Mercer, Tennessee (05/01/13) – It was a busy weekend for Upton Motorsports pilots, Kyle Beard and Ashley Newman, in the state of Mississippi as they competed in a pair of events.

In an effort to escape the rain Kyle and Ashley made the trip to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) on Friday night for a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at the 1/4 mile oval. Time trials found Beard missing the lock-in spot by one position in his #86 Upton Motorsports/Greg's Sawmill/Bob Pierce/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model, and as a result had to run a b-main, where he finished second to lock into the eleventh starting spot for the 50 lap finale. In the feature Kyle advanced three spots to finish in the eighth position.

Newman also missed the cut from qualifying for the main event in his #73 Upton Motorsports/Greg's Sawmill/Bob Pierce Super Late Model, but a sixth place finish in his b-main positioned him starting twentieth on the main event grid. He raced his way to a sixteenth place finish.

Despite a poor forecast Greenville Speedway (Greenville, MS) was able to host their $2,500-to-win, Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) Super Late Model event on Saturday evening as Upton Motorsports took part in the race.

With twenty entries in the pit area Kyle Beard advanced from the seventh starting spot to a fifth place finish in his heat race to lock into the thirteenth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. The main event found Kyle marching forward to a third place finish behind race winner, Rob Litton, and Ashley Newman.

Newman started his night by blasting to the first heat race win to earn a front row starting spot for the 40 lap feature. Early in the event he challenged fellow, front row starter, Rob Litton for the lead before settling into a solid second place finish as he continues to impress in his rookie season in the division.

Overall it was another great night for the team. Full results from the event are available at www.SUPRRacing.com .

This weekend, May 3rd-4th, Upton Motorsports resumes action with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models with races in Texas and Louisiana. Kyle and Ashley are currently second and third respectively in the latest CCSDS standings, and Newman leads the Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year standings. On Friday night the team invades Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas) before traveling to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday evening.
