Benton (Mo.) Raceway Park hosts the inaugural Jim Hall 99 Memorial on Friday, June 28, an event honoring late dirt and asphalt racer Jim Hall who became an engine builder upon his 1986 retirement.

The night's action includes 99 laps of racing -- honoring the Charleton, Mo., resident's No. 99 -- among Super Late Models ($1,000-to-win), USCS sprint cars ($2,000-to-win) and USCS modifieds ($1,000-to-win). Among drivers expected for the UMP DIRTcar-rules event will be Hall's grandson, Todd Hall.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:30. General admission is $15 ($10 for children 10-14 and 9-and-under free). Pit passes are $30 ($15 for children 6-12 and 5-and-under free).

The Late Model tire rule requires Hoosier LM-20, LM-40 or D-55 rear tires; any front tires are legal.

Benton is also hosted a demolition derby on Saturday. See bentonracewaypark.com for details.

I sure hope the water bill has been paid since the last sprint show I attended

You're always welcome to help out with track prep. I'm sure they'd really appreciate the effort. Might even be so nice as to give you a pass in for your time... just sayin'.
