OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (October 20) – Tyler Walker is having the time of his life, and he’s more than happy to share it with his Oklahoma-based crew and car owners.

Walker gave C&W Motorsports its first Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series "A" Feature victory in the Sooner State Sunday, passing Danny Lasoski midway through the seventh lap on his way to claiming the $10,000 first prize.

"Ricky (Warner) did a great job with the setup tonight," Walker said in victory lane. "I also want to thank (Robert) Hubbard and Josh (Forshee) and, of course, my car owners, Wallace and Coeta Ledford.

"I thought I was fast enough to get by Danny once we hit traffic. We’d have been too even on an open track. The track was still a little greasy the first couple of laps and we were pretty loose, but then it started to come in and we could run wide open and go pretty much anywhere we wanted. On a track like this, if you’re not in shape you’re only going to be fast the first 10 laps or so, and then you’re going to start getting tired and making mistakes and missing your line."

Walker, the 2002 World of Outlaws Gumout Series champion, was 2 2/3 laps from sweeping the feature races in the Charlotte Outlaws Championship at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway the weekend before. In addition to winning the Preliminary Feature at Lowe’s, Walker won the "A" Feature at State Fair Motor Speedway in Sedalia, MO, May 10th.

Walker, the fourth-fastest qualifier in the 31-car field, finished fourth in the Third Heat Race. He received a break when mechanical problems in the #6 Casey’s General Stores Maxim kept Oklahoman Danny Wood from starting on the pole in the Second O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Dash. Walker moved forward in the lineup and earned the right to start the 25-lap main event outside the front row by wining the five-lap dash.

First O’Reilly Auto Parts Dash winner Danny Lasoski started on the pole and beat Walker down the front straightaway to take the lead in the "A" Feature.

Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series points leader Steve Kinser started inside the fifth row and drove his #11 Quaker State Maxim past Stevie Smith, Craig Dollansky and Jac Haudenschild during the first three laps.

"The Dude" had NASCAR Winstson Cup star Tony Stewart’s #20 J.D. Byrider Maxim eight car-lengths ahead of his closest pursuers when he entered lapped traffic during the fifth lap, only to have Walker pass him for the lead on the back stretch two laps later.

Fast qualifier Joey Saldana and Third Heat Race winner Tim Shaffer passed Brad Furr for third and fourth place during the eighth and ninth laps. Smith steered the #11H Vivarin Maxim to the lowest point in the second corner to pass "The Wild Child" for seventh early in lap 15.

Walker opened a full straightaway advantage on Lasoski the next time around, and lapped eighth-place Craig Dollansky during the 19th lap.

Shaffer continued his run toward the front late in lap 17, steering the #83 Beef Packers Eagle into the low groove in turn four to pass Saldana for third place. Kinser, who had won three of the series’ last five "A" Features at State Fair Speedway, took the high line between the first and second corners to pass Saldana for fifth place early in lap 22. Shaffer used a similar move to pass "The Dude" for the runner-up spot the next time around, but was almost half a lap behind when Walker took the checkered flag.

Lasoski finished in third place, ahead of Furr, Kinser, Saldana, Smith, Dollansky, 16th-starting Wood and Shane Stewart of Bixby, OK.

Furr’s third-place finish pushed him past Donny Schatz into seventh place in the point standings. Wood, who entered the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series’ 65th event of the year tied with fellow Oklahoman Daryn Pittman, remained in 11th place by finishing ninth.

Saldana, who leads the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series with 20 quick times, set State Fair Speedway’s single-lap record with a 115.377-M.P.H. lap around the semi-banked, ½-mile oval.

Mark Kinser, a two-time winner at State Fair Speedway, was unable to race in the First O’Reilly Auto Parts Dash due to mechanical problems in the #5M Mopar Maxim. He finished 24th in the main event.

The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series will sanction the Fall Classic at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS, Friday and the Lone Star Classic at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX, Saturday. WoO
