just a show of who thinks they will be racing at tri city sunday nights in all clases

with due respect Advocate...you would be very naive if you wouldn't think these guys wouldn't show up for a weekly running sunday nite race. Triple point oppurtunity for most of them that chase U.M.P. points and right in there owb backyard so to speak for the rest of them. And as for your other post on Mr. Gundakers Managerial skills.....If i am not mistaken, i think kevin has promoted a few races and i think a few Go-kart series that were very successful. I could be wrong...either way the possibilites of Tri-City Speedway will be one hell of a place to go again. I have yet to hear from the folks who have had problems with tech in the past...should be interesting.

Just My Opinion

With all due respect noted, dirtman07. I remember the previous promotions that Gundaker was involved in, but to take on a whole season as the promoter of what is potentially the finest track in the St Louis area is a huge undertaking. Again, I wish him all the best, but let's not set ourselves up for dissapointment by expecting every racer within 200 miles to be there every week. Realistically, it will take time to re-establish the track on Sundays. It can be done, but I just don't see it happening overnight.

I still think the "TCS on Sunday" deal is going to be an optional event from week to week for many racers, not a priority night of racing for most. I think the Saturday night tracks are going to benefit just as much from the lack of TCS on a Saturday night, probably even more so than TCS will benefit from being the only place available to run on Sunday.

By the time Sunday rolls around, most racers have already had two opportunities to tear the car up too bad to run it on Sunday. Of course, the big names can get fixed and ready to run, but as we all know, it is the weekly racer on his or her own nickel that make up the bulk of the field, not just a few big names.

I still think it's going to be interesting to see how this goes down, and they can always go back to Saturday nights if it doesn't fly. That is, of course, if George Carrol doesn't make the obvious move and take Saturday night for Godfrey. Now, if it were me, I would have already announced Godfrey was moving to Saturday night. But, thats just me.

t.nie...tri-city can not race on saturday if they are UMP,the 50mile rule would not allow that, thats why it was put to sunday,so they kinda knew it before the deal went down ,that it would be UMP!

I will b there Pat Harper in my new steet stock,#44 also my son will be driven my old Factory stock,#44 Kevin will u be running the Factory stocks (honets) They have been there for a few years and for the most part the people enjoyed Them,Please let them race comming from an x hornet driver it wazz a blast, thats why I am moving up. If ya race them dont race them last, run them just after intermishion. Most of them put on a good show, and the heats, and the features run green to checkerd most of the time.. See ya at the rules meeting..

Hey 43pety, will your street stock also be a Ford?

At any rate, I'm glad to see the little EXP will still be tearing it up. It's one of my favorite Hornets in the area, perhaps because it's just so different.:)

Who said every driver within 200 miles would be there every week???? I think most of the STL area "Big Names" that run for UMP points will be there every week along with many others!!
You seem to try to put a negative spin on everything & some of the time I agree but I think you are a little off on this one. :D

Thanks Brandon, Didnt know I had a fan,lol Sorry the s/s will be a chevy, just mite paint the s/s the same as the hornet,We missed alot of races cuz had sponser problems thats why we sat out the last 9 weeks of the year, we could of won the championship but things happan,This year we are lookong at a few differnt things to help keep us on the track,Hey brandon I can get you into the exp for a few dollers, also we will be needing some pit help. Thanks again.

But if it doesn't fly, they can always drop the sanction and race Saturdays.

What are you going to do if your big names turn out to be less than a dozen LM's and fifteen mods and ten sportsman and fifteen or less SS on a Sunday show up? Lose money to keep the track UMP, or go back to Saturday nights and hope more people come back from Highland and Pevely?

I can see that happening, quite honestly. I do not think that is out of the realm of reasonable possibility. Certainly from midseason on, when the cash flow really gets tight for the less funded racers.

Like I said before though, it is going to be interesting to see how this all goes down. I hope it works well, not least so I have a place to go watch some racing on a Sunday if I don't actually feel like racing. I think you will get the half dozen or so top names there regularly. But as for the rest, well. It will depend on who can afford a third night, or second night, on a weekend. And while a lot of people are now saying they will be there, economics might mean they can't as the season goes on.

Like I said before, if I was George Carrol, my track would now be THE place to race on Saturday nights on the east side. Moving Godfrey to Sat night would not hurt anyone, and it would probably make it more attractive to many locals who now have no Sat night track.

Didn't Godfrey run on Saturdays until the mid 80s?

I bet Belle Clair really would like to see Godfrey go to Saturdays, lol. Farmer City likely would like to see that happen, too.
