BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (Aug. 6, 2005) On a night to where the fastest run of the event ended in a spectacular barrel-roll accident it ended when Mother Nature sent in the fog!
Forty-three-year-old John Moreland of Liberty, Mo. was uninjured after his rail dragster barrel-rolled several times in the shutdown area following a run of over 101 mph over the 300-foot sand track. The car was trashed, but Moreland was able to unstrap himself from the twisted metal to walk away.
As for Mother Nature, she decided at 12:30 a.m. that enough was enough and brought in a heavy dosage of fog to cover the track. The fog made it impossible for the track's electronic scoring system to work properly so the rest of the night had to be scrapped.
Here are the results from Saturday night.
In Junior ATV, Whitney Dee of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Garth Farris of Potosi captured second place.
In ATV-1, Cassie Patterson of Leadwood was the first place and top eliminator winner with Allie Glatczak of Potosi taking second place.
In Vehicle ET, Rob Tourville of St. Ann was the first place winner while Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre captured second place and won the top eliminator race.
In Stock Buggy, Jeremy Sutton of Park Hills was the top eliminator and first place winner while Vernon Henson Sr. of Valle Mines captured second place.
The following races were affected by the fog, so there were no top eliminator races.
In Open 4x4, Daniel Wies of Wentzville continued his undefeated streak at BRSD by winning first place while his father, Terry Wies of Wentzville, captured second.
In Super Pro ATV, Justin Garnett was the first place winner while Jason Waller of Bonne Terre took home second place.
In Pro ATV, Josh Hayes of Pilot Knob was the first place winner with Kevin Betzer Jr. taking second place.
In Competition Eliminator, William Sutton of Des Arc won first place with Carla Glatczak of Potosi taking second.
