CLARKSVILLE, TN – Willard Speedway in Willard, KY has become the tenth dirt track to sign up for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series for 2006. Willard Speedway will not only present their Crate Late Model Division for the 24-week StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series on Saturday nights, but they will also host a special 10-week series on Thursday nights.

Each Thursday night beginning on June 1 and running through August 3, Willard Speedway will present the StormPay.com Thursday Night Thunder Challenge Series. Drivers competing on Thursday night will compete for a separate point fund, and the series champion will receive a GM Performance 602 engine from StormPay.com.

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series features economical engines produced by GM Performance and sealed at the factory. The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series gives weekly short track competitors an opportunity to compete in an economical late model division against drivers at other weekly tracks on a regional and national basis.

There are several sanctioning bodies out there now for the factory sealed circle track racing engines, which speaks volumes for how much this program was needed at our weekly tracks,” Willard Speedway Track Manager Scott Estep said. “Willard Speedway had the difficult task of choosing the one that best suits our situation. The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series have established rules, a support program, and sanctioning requirements for drivers and tracks that best provides for our needs at Willard Speedway."

The steel head “602” engine sells for $2,950, and the aluminum head “604” engine sells for $4,950. Race cars using the 602 engine weigh 2,200 pounds, and get a 150 pound weight break over the race cars using the 604 engine that must weigh 2,350 pounds. These engines are race-ready right out of the crate from the factory.

“StormPay.com Racing officials Mike Vaughn and Roby Helm have been very professional and enthusiastic in meeting the needs of Willard Speedway,” Willard Speedway Race Director Rocky Estep said. “StormPay.com’s very inclusive weekly sanctioning program along with their sponsorship program will be a great asset to us as we enter the 2006 season. We are anxious to get the season under way and anticipate a great year for Willard Speedway, StormPay.com, and dirt racing in general."

StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials share the Esteps’ outlook for Willard Speedway in 2006.

“Both Scott and Rocky Estep understand the economic balance of weekly short track racing, and knowing that will play an important role in the success of Willard Speedway in 2006,” StormPay.com President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “They know what they have to work with both attendance and car count-wise, and they know what they need to put on a good show for the fans at a fair price, while paying the drivers a fair purse.”

“Scott and Rocky have had prior experience with the Crate Late Model engine program, and they have a full understanding about how beneficial it can be economically for them, the racers and the fans at Willard Speedway,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “We’re confident they can build this division in Kentucky, and we’re proud to be associated with them.”

In addition to joining the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, and hosting the StormPay.com Thursday Night Thunder Challenge Series, Willard Speedway will also host a $3,000-to-win StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on August 5.
