Farmington, MO -- (August 18, 2007) Tommy Worley, Jr, Farmington, MO picks up his sixth feature win of the season at St Francois County Raceway on Saturday night. In doing so Worley is also making his way to the top of the Championship Point Standings for 2007. Mike Francis, Fredericktown , MO , goes to the Winners Circle for the fifth time this season. Mark Shirshekan, Farmington , MO , running a limited schedule at SFCR, makes his second trip to Victory Lane . Jared Wagster, Portageville , MO , came in on his first night…and won.

In addition to the racing excitement. Saturday was the annual Driver/Fan Appreciation Night. During intermission kids lined up on the front straight. They were waiting for the nickels to be spread out. Washington County Open MRI and Belgrade State Bank came up with 6,000 nickels. Kids were also in search of “Gold Coins”. These were for the prizes donated by the drivers. More than 90 prizes were given out to the youngsters.

All feature events, for some strange reason, had troubles getting going. After the dust had settled, racing was great.

In our Sprint Division, Worley had a very fast race car from the outset. On the start, Jimmy Hurley, Springfield , IL would jump to the lead followed by Worley, Rod Crabdree, Desloge , MO. , Steve Short, Farmington , MO. , and Jason Hunt, Bonne Terre , MO. Slicing and dicing was the rule in the early part of the event. With action hot and heavy among these five drivers. It appeared to be anybones race. Worley made his power move to the front entering turn one. Jimmy Hurley had the lead and something let go on his mount and he was finished. Three cautions, after the initial start, would slow the event. No serious accidents occurred in the feature. Bryan Matthews, Park Hills , MO , finished in the runner-up slot, followed by Crabdree, Short and Tom Dickerman, Cedar Hill , MO.

Modified Division saw the “Hurricane” blow through for the win. Mike Francis, Fredericktown , MO , found his way to the Winner Circle for the fifth time in 2007. Francis, who always has a strong car, had a dogfight of sorts with “The Kidd” Billy Smith. Each took different avenues in pursuit of the win. Francis would work the bottom and Smith took the high road around the top. Both drivers had excellent opportunities for the win. Francis survived several challenges and celebrated his victory. Smith stayed in the second spot, third goes to Kasey Nations, Park Hills , MO , Jeremy Greenwalt, Potosi , MO. and Brent Thompson, Park Hills , MO.

Pure Street Division had an “invader” of sorts. Jared Wagster came to town in a car owned and driven by a former champion. Shawn King, the car owner, was on vacation. He told Jared to race the car. He did and won in great fashion. Starting up front Wagster took off. Bill Skaggs, Mike Savage and Chris Boyd would chase. Following a series of cautions on the initial lap, all would settle in for the duration. Wagster, gained his first win by outlasting Mike Savage, Annapolis , MO. , Chris Boyd, Park Hills, MO, Dave’ Wolf” Wofford, Park Hills, MO and Bill Skaggs, Bismarck, MO.

POWRi 600 Multi Division saw the closest finish of the night. Mark Shirshekan, Farmington , MO. , pulled off the win. Jimmy Bridgeman, Farmington , MO. , took control and looked as though he was not to be headed. Shrishekan stayed in the tracks of Bridgeman for 14 ¾ laps. Plotting his strategy going into the final lap. Shirshekan told us in post race. Jimmy messed up a bit and I stuck it to the floor and hung on. Lynda Blanke was directly in front of these two. Closeness between these three drivers could not be measured. Shirshekan would win it by less than 3 feet. Bridgeman had to settle for second, point leader Brandon Nixon finished third, Ryan Kempin fourth and Jeff Wurst claims fifth.
