Racing for Tomorrow at Belle-Clair Speedway is Canceled! Kettler & Son's Night is rescheduled for Au

I'm not going to bash BCP-Don but, this one seems premature with the forcast for tomorrows high of 90*.Sadly with August almost 2 weeks away, there's a lot of Hot weather still ahead. They'll be wanting this one back bad. What will happen Fair week when it's 100*?? BTW thanks to "King Eddie" for last weeks special. That was a lot of fun to watch! Any chance of a repeet with the sportsmans or modifieds?

How about we have two seasons next year and combine the point to have an overall championship. Race March, April, and May, for the first half and award mid season championships, then race Sept, Oct, and Nov and award 2nd half championships and then combine the points for an overall championship. Each season allows for cancels of Mother Nature. Nobody around the area is doing this. Just a thought.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe have a special or two in July/August that you know will draw fans out in the heat.

Ideas are much better (though more difficult) to post than bashing a track.

Belleville is 100 times better now than it was a few years ago.

KMOX has Fridays forcast at 89 . Don had a small window that opend up to race but he blue that now . Every day next week is forcasted to be in the 100s so dont expect racing next friday ether . Not a very good job of promoting . Don !

Its not my money on the line so there's not much I can say regarding the cancellation. I'm about sick of ppl tearing up our equipment there anyway, so I'm not real heartbroken.

Don has taken on running this track fearlessly. And done a SENSATIONAL job as a promoter. Nobody can deny that. But I believe he may have bitten off more than he can chew here. I applaud the effort, but I don't think the track will be getting new dirt( it desperately needs) or anything else it will need to keep it alive much longer. Enjoy Belle-clair while you can

He lost money last week because he ran against Lucas oil at tri city the stands were going to be off a little!

I applaud the deecision some of you simply must not think before you post do you not understand the reason don cancelled plus with the added money to the purse. Simple fix go somewhere else n race tomorrow or watch!

all the complainers will be complaining no matter what decision is made. you say they have raced when it was hotter. what did that equal? poor attendance, which equals loss of money. would you complainers have them race tomorrow but then have to close the season early when theyve lost all there is to lose because ONLY the diehards showed up? pretty sure there would be more complaining then!!
Odiously you didn't hear the weather report. People on here aren't just fans. Till you know what your talking about stay of the subject. Maybe the heat got you yesterday are you are just plain blind. It's altogether the dumbest call any promoter could make. Tomorrow is gonna be cooler and last week he did compete against a track with a big event. He isn't very wise on this call but drivers do start making decisions on going other places. Ump points mean a lot to them and they like to race on Fridays and not play follow the leader. So don did make a bonehead decision.

This is a huge mistake like most said there going to wish they could have this one back. I was really looking forward to going with Friday and this happens, there went my week. SSfan21 if there going to close with the whether at anywhere between 89-92 degrees with he cooling of into the night, which they start racing at 7 so only and hour in heat at the most then the track should close up the next 2 1/2 months if there that worried about the heat! I'm 100% agreed with 3Abreast and 360''s #1 fan, also we where going to bring our car for first time in a long time but now i don't know if we'll be back.

AKM( How can you applaud this decision when Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful 89 degree day . I can see the reason if it was going to be like 96 degrees out tomorrow . The heat wave ends tonight at 8:00pm . If Don's going to cancel out at 89 degrees then this track most be in the red big time. This summers not going to get any cooler Don . Unless you want to race in the fall .

Forecast I'm looking at says 92 tomorrow...92, 89...whatever. I agree that it seems hard to put the cancellation of tomorrows races on a forecast like that. However, promoters have to make money. So he must be taking a hit this hot summer.

From what I've seen this guy has done a tremendous job in promoting Belleville this year. The schedule is great and the information put out about upcoming races has been spot on. So of course it's about the money. I mean you really think the promoter wants to cancel? Rather than bash the decision, maybe we should be asking the promoter what we fans could do to help put people in the stands. Running a racetrack is a financially risky business. I always find it interesting how easy is it to bash or criticize when it comes to someone else's money.

Very easy I READ his reason for calling them I've been around this sport my whole life and when the track doesn't make money they close or race for gate money which they just as well close. It's not hard to tell when you look up in the stands n see 5 6 700 people to know dons losin his ***

That's surely what everybody else is going to do when it's over 90 degrees on a Friday, they'll all just assume BC canceled! Most definitely a horrible call, if it's going to be 89-91 tomorrow and you canceled, if its the same on Aug, 17th will you cancel as well? Might as well make it Oct, 17! if the heat bothers him that much

gost67 Canceling shows on 89 degree days will not help get more people in the stands .

Wow this got out of hand quick.
****s they aren't racin, but next week is another week.
I guess we will see tomorrow what the weather is like. 89? I doubt it. I'l take bets it's gonna be in the upper 90's at least.
Good call, and thanks for the early notice.

As much as i would have liked to race tomorrow i am ok with the decision. Like some have said "id rather take a week off rather than the rest of the year".

I think my only suggestion would be to make up these dates at the end of the season. I dont care if they are points nights or not being that i have missed two nights and not in a race for the championship this year. But lets put some of these cancellations at the end of the schedule for this season. Heck we could have ran year round last winter with as mild as it was...lol...I mean atleast run through the beginning of October or later if the weather does permit it. Just give us racers a chance to run these cars that we have and give the fans a good show with decent temps outside.

I would like to thank Don though bc he deffinately has turned belleville around compared to a few years back. He tries his absolute hardest to try and make this happen for us racers and fans. Being he doesnt have endless pockets he has to do exactly what he said and make the best decisions for everyone. He has to put food on his table and pay bills like all of us. If he constantly loses money to make all us happy then he will not be able to do what i said above. So just give him some slack and try seeing it from his point of view. We can all be selfish and only think about ourselves but if we do that then we will be sitting home every friday night. So lets just understand and accept his decision and look forward to next week.

listen you idiot, dave murray just showed 96 on the forecast for tomorrow, more than likely it will get up to 100. not enough people will show up. must not remember 3 years ago when they had to close the season early because they ran EVERY WEEK no matter the temperatures and had to close almost 2mo early. so i ask AGAIN, would you rather race tomorrow or the rest of the year? People don't show up, and they can't afford to lose constantly in this weather. End of story.

I also seen Dave's forecast and he said 94. Heat index 105. Hot. I dont blame Don's decision and really its a crapshoot. Tri City will probably make out good since some are chasing points still and need somewhere to go. But lets see how full the bleachers are..who know? Point is noone does. Don has to play it smart and cant afford to loose out week in and week out. I wouldnt want to be in his shoes and make tough calls like this one.

This morning the forecast was 89 now they changed it to 94 but even at that your not going to get much better than that not till September anyway . It don't look like Don can afford to run in the summer and make a profit at this track so run in the fall when its cooler if that's his problem .
