05 At SFCR

My Thoughts

Axeman, i always enjoy reading your posts. Even though i may disagree with you on some things, but you state your opinions in a very good manner. Not coming off as a smart aZZ .

I too have watched many races and i see new comers in every class. I truely did enjoy the Pure Streets at the Fredericktown Race Track ! So, i am one of the people that is excited about them running on the weekly schedule. Im tellin ya, there will be some dandy races in that class ! I know it is stepping out a bet but i do NOT think Cory and Jill will regret adding them. By FAR, Farmington is one of the best tracks anywhere ! We are privaliged to see awsome racing EVERY Saturday night .......... LD :)

I believe the only major problem might be the length of the overall race program by adding this class. Every time I have attended SFCR it's usually pretty late when the races are over and by adding this class will more than likely increase the length of the program. I guess also it will depend on the car counts each week. In my opinion, if the races aren't over by midnight on any given saturday then something within the race program will have to change. I guess we'll all just have to see what happens.

HobbieStocksFan,

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. And, I absolutely agree with you about the quality of Farmington. I can't wait for racing to get started. At this point they could run rickshaws and I'd be there! Last winter I got so desperate for racing I actually watched lawn mower races on SPEEDTV. So, compared to them, Pure Streets are a big step up. Bring 'em on! Let's go racin'!! See you at the track.

:D Thanks for the reply. Maybe I took it the wrong way but I enjoy all dirt racing. Pure-street class is great to watch and good racing as is the rest of the classes. Our family is still racing again this year and has been racing at the track for over 10 years,at one time we had 3 different cars in 2 classes. Can't wait for the flag to drop and the dust to fly this year. Good Luck to all Racers in 2005.:D

Chevy-Woman,

My pleasure to reply. I too love racing. As I've often told non-racing friends, being a racing fan is a kind of sickness. And, once infected, you never get over it. Not only have I been a life-long fan, I've had the pleasure of being on hand in Indy to watch three US Grand Prix's, and at Gateway for IRL, Cart, ARCA, etc. Even did the Petty Driving Experience. And I've loved every minute of all of it. But, my roots are in dirt racing. Nighttime racing is just the greatest. I love the sights, the smells (fuel, popcorn and hot dogs), and the sounds. Nothing beats sprint cars for me. But I can certainly understand your passion for Pure Streets. Hey, its all good!

dwarfs too small???

how can someone say that the dwarf cars are too small for the track when the multis are still running there..... the multis are smaller than the dwarfs and runn at about the same speed (maybe a lil slower or a lil faster) but still they ARE smaller so the excuse that the dwarfs are too small is BS in my opinion if they are gona continue the multis

Easy there lil' Bill, nobody's knocking your class of cars. You are right though. But I personally think that the track is too big for the 600cc engines. They(multis) are a neat group of cars to watch at a place like Doe Run or maybe Fredricktown, but they get too strung out at Farmington and it's not as exciting.

Bigrightrear said it perfectly. I love watching the dwarfs and the multis, but on that bigger track they just get strung out too much. The reason they will continue to go with the multis is that class is an excellent entry level division for the sprint cars. Just look at all the multi drivers who have graduated up to the sprints. When I said that believe me there was no malice involved. Watching the dwarfs and the multis on a track like Doe Run or Fredericktown is TOTALLY different.

The reason they continue the multi's is they pay them very little and the class brings the most people with them to the pits. $$$$$

Why do you think they added the pure street class? Because they cared about the racers in the class? NO $$$$$ Just a way to pad the back gate more.

Just a rough figure but I would bet those two classes alone bring around $4500 extra to the pits each night.

Just like anything else, SFCR is a business. A business has to make money to survive, right? I personally go to see the modifieds race but at times enjoy the other classes also as long as it doesn't end really late. I think that everyone has their own "favorite class" but all in all we pay money to see racing so it doesn't matter what class is better or worse. It all amounts to someone's opinion or preference. Good luck to all the drivers in 2005 and thanks to Cory & Jill for trying to make the racers and the fans happy. That is a large task alone. JMO

"Good luck to all the drivers in 2005 and thanks to Cory & Jill for trying to make the racers and the fans happy. That is a large task alone."

Truer words were never spoken! I think racers and race fans are the greatest folks on earth, but . . . Well, let's just say Lincoln couldn't have envisioned the racing crowd when he said (alledgedly), "You can please SOME of the people ALL of the time and ALL of the people SOME of the time." I'm sure there are times when most race promoters wonder if its possible to please ANYONE, ANY of the time. LOL So, just wanted to say, "Thanks for everything," to Cory and Jill.

i like the multis but its true they do get strung out alot....but that i can remember the dwarf cars didnt get to strung out....i think they put on a great show at Farmington....there are tracks that size they run on

Us dwarf/Modlite racers that race Southern Missouri Dwarf Cars race all different size track and dont get strung out on SFCR. We raced at I-55 and Montgomery county, and PBS and we didnt get stung out on any of the tracks. i personaly would like to see a couple races at SFCR this year. i think the track is awesome and i like 2 race on it. i had a lot of fun racin there last year. i am not downin the multies but i think they are to small for the track but they do bring in a lot of cars and a lot of ppl and i can see why they keep them becuz of the $$$$$$$$..... just my thoughts

I would just like to say that I am glad that UMP latemodels are on the 2005 schedual at SFCR, I enjoy visiting the track I grew up at, and really like to race my car there.

Here is my take on this subject: My favorite kind of racing is DIRT racing, Im not even real big on Nascar and stuff that races on pavement, I think racing WAS and IS meant to be on DIRT...my 2 favorite classes are sprints and late models...I grew up watching late models as a kid, people like Billy Moyer, Wendell Wallace, Bill Frye, Jeff Purvis, and Larry Phillips(probably not many know who he is) flying around I-44 Speedway's high banked 3/8 mile oval nearly every Saturday night...as time went on, I was introduced to what a "sprint" car was and immediately fell in love with the 800 horsepower, mudslinging, fire breathing, methanol burning machines...so those 2 are my all time favorite...but, you have to look at it this way...where did the drivers of both the World of Outlaws Sprint car series and the WoO Late Model series get their experience....pure streets and bomber cars! I can remember watching Bill Frye circling I-44 in his blue and white #66 pure street, never ceising to put on one heck of a show! Where do you think guys like Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, and Danny Lasoski got their feet wet? In cars just like what guys like Kasey Nations, Theran Pearl, and Casey Barnhouse drive right now!! I could go on forever on this subject, but it would take hours to explain...so, in conclusion, both the Pure Street Class and the Multi's need SFCR, just like SFCR needs them!! Let's drop the mouthing and lets go racing!!!

this is jessy . i sit in the pit house everyweek with my mom and when the dwarfs are there i see more ppl with them then i do with any other class i would like to see them out there
