?

Well thats just the way I am...
Yes I went to the track, and yeah I got a little wet...(almost melted) LMAO Just kiddin, but you know what, if I had stayed at home, they would've raced. No one can predict Mother Nature...So be it,thats just part of life..
And there will always be someone out there that complains about one thing or another. Life would be kind of boring if we didn't have something.

Have a Great Day and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the MOMS out there...

See ya next week.;)

track

I do'nt get it when you say how much fuel they spent preping the track I was there at 2pm and they did'nt do anything till around 4.They don't normaly start till around 3 with witch sounds like the scratcher and then a load of water.

This year has been hard on tracks and promoters. Every weekend SFCR is either trying to beat the rain or dealing with 2 or more inches of rain the night before. Not only do they worry about track prep, the pits require more work than the track surface after a big rain on Friday. Not to mention all the concessions that were cooked Saturday night before the rainout. There is a lot more time, money, and effort that goes into a Saturday night show than most people realize.

Skoob,

If I may expand on your post a little, I know I was amazed at how much time goes in to making SFCR race-able.

Their are two full time workers at the track 5 days a week, doing track prep and repair and maintenance at the facility.

Next to "get ready" for the race one of those track workers, brings in a camper around noon on Friday. The track is graded with a road grader, compacted and box bladed (That is 3 tank fulls of Diesel). The water trucks are serviced (another tank full of diesel) and they start filling them with water. Several truck loads are put on the night before.

In between truck loads of water, they make sure the pits are ready, either box blading or turning the soil over to let it dry out.

8AM the next morning that worker is joined by 4 other workers. Two of which are working in the grandstands and pits making last minute preparations. The other two join in on ground work, the drives have to be box bladed, the track will be scratched and compacted again, more water ALL DAY LONG (I will have to ask this weekend and find out how many gallons are used per week, I was told once but can't remember now). The 3 track packers get fueled up (another 3 tanks of gas).

The pits are either box bladed, ran in with the packers or what ever is needed to get them ready for racing.

Then what you see at 2pm kicks in here. Plus the other water truck is over watering the pits to keep the dust down. Plus all the atv's, Rangers, and Club Cars the track uses to move supplies and workers around (6 more 5 gallon tanks).

Then Sunday morning before that track worker pulls out his camper and finally heads home he grades the track to turn the dirt over.

Then Monday morning an army comes into the track and begins picking up TWO DUMPSTERS full of trash that the fans and racers throw on the ground.

As you can see a lot goes into making the track race-able, and I know I skipped several things here, but hopefully this will let everyone know just how hard they work to put on the show.

See you this weekend at the track!!!!!!!!!!

There's just some people you can't make happy no matter what you do!!! :eek:Thanks for all your effort last Saturday Cory and crew. The track looked great !!! Just wish we could have got the races in.

Frank

i agree with him you guys work your butts off to get the track ready and it looked like it was gonna be a good fast track

It is estimated some where close to 100,000 gallons of water a week are used on the track. The Track is watered throughout the week.

Thanks for the good words, I know they work their tails off all week.

But, hey don't get me wrong, like the good words, but I don't want anyone to think the purpose of my post was for anyone to have pitty on the track or workers. I wanted to share what I see goes in the track to get it ready, just to clear up any confusion that might be out there. It is hard to make a good decision if you don't have all the facts.

As I type this, I keep thinking of more things I forgot.... but this post just deals with track prep so I won't count all the endless hours put in on the administrative side of running such a facility.

Well, Hopefully this week will be better, I was there, got wet, almost melted...(just kiddin) BUT....Ill be back next week...Dirt track Fever!!!:D

Awesome track Prep.!!

I am very thankful we have a local track that puts out the effort these guys do, many tracks see a chance of rain and call it quits! Mother nature has been pretty much a b_____ this year and the track fights her to the end. Great job and thanks for always having a very well prepared track to race on.

Bruuuuuuuuuuce, Thanks for the insite on track prep.

I agree people have no idea what it takes Money Wise and Labor to make something happen. Just the "corrniation" of who, where, and when.........

Your so right the admin side of anything is a total devotional nitemare to make it happen "correctly" ......I know this is my 22nd year of making something happen that looks simple. I just hate it when someone says: "OH ANYONE CAN DO THAT"...My answer to that one is: "Come on Big Boy sit right down here in the carnerys seat and we will see if you make it thru the whole day without flyin ta coop!!"...

Bruce, Cory, Jill and Track Prep Workers keep up the good work........
.
NO, there are some peops you couldn't make happy if you hung em with a "Brand New" rope or cable!!!

Yes week to week they do a great job. You know they are going to put the effort into the track surface. When we get into the truck and head to Farmington we know we'll see a good show.
