305 sprints at doe run next year ? Is this for real or just rumor?

There is a meeting on 21 Oct in Doe Run after the mini stock meeting to discuss this. Yes 305 sprints. Bobby has a set of the 2006 Midwest Limited Sprint Cars Rules which are a guideline, but nothing has been decided. Alot of interest though. If you want to see what the rules look like go to Midway in Lebanon, or LaMonte or Warrensburg Speedways to view the rules. If you are interested, show up at the meeting.

I think it would be a awesome idea and would probably go over pretty good but do you think doe run is big enough?

TECH- ALL CARS MAY BE INSPECTED AT ANY TIME UPON ENTERING THE PITS AT A RACE LOCATION. ANY CAR JOINING THE ASSOCIATION DURING THE YEAR WILL BE TECHED AT THE FIRST RACE IT IS ENTERED IN. AT THE CONCLUSION 0F THE FEATURE RACE THE TOP 4 CARS ARE SUBJECT TO INSPECTION AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TECH COMMITTEE. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE INSPECTION REQUEST WILL RESULT IN THE DRIVER BEING SCORED IN LAST PLACE AND ALL MONEY AND POINTS WILL BE SCORED AS SUCH. THE TECH DIRECTORS DECISION IS FINAL ON THIS ISSUE. ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THESE RULES WILL BE BY MAJORITY VOTE OF THE TECH COMMITTEE AND WILL BE PUBLISHED TO ALL REGISTERED DRIVERS AS S0ON AS FEASIBLE.

Those are not sprint cars. Sprint cars do not have carburators or starters. May as well run a modified class. I would suggest the Racesaver 305 rules that the Virginia Sprint Series uses. Just my opinion. www.racesaver.com
 
So what are they called then? They have wings on top and front have same rearends, same wheels , tires and same steering!! Hmm i think it is a sprint car with a carb and starter!!
 
I think it is a great idea!!

I have reservations as to whether they can make enough power to justify running a wing. It looks like the wingless would be faster, on the low horsepower end.. The head restriction will probably keep you under 420 horse. The low speeds of the track due to size, and turn radius will probably negate the use of the wing. Not to mention the carnage on shorttracks these days, I see a few wings wrinkled. Who knows I may be wrong. In either case I think they will be a blast to watch, and a good stepping stone for those on the verge of moving up, but lacking in the funds dept.. Sounds like all of us dont it!!!;) :D Jason Brewington
 
Run them wingless then! I love a good wingless show. I even liked watching the multis run wingless. But then those rolls will hurt a little more.
 
Ya Wheel!!! Wingless is so much like (pardon the expression) "topless", its much more exciting..:D This is something I may consider in a year or two, if the puretstreets keep going sportsman on us!! I may be at that meeting..you gonna be there??
 
I think wingless is a great idea! It will also keep the cost down too! But i still dont if the track will be big enough or not, it would make for some tough passing! but i still think 305 sprints would be a good idea!! I want to hear bobbys take on this though cause his track and there is no reason for talkin about it if he doesnt like the idea!!

 
305's are great

They make plenty of power to justify a wing. However, I think wingless is the ticket. Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas has a wingless 305 class and they put on a great show. It's not too horrible of a drive to get there, maybe Mr. Johnson should go check them out. They run Saturday nights up into November. www.riversideinternationalspeedway.com
 
How about crate 350 sprints or a 360 max with strick rules? There are more 350's out there and rods and other parts are cheaper. JMO. Carb & Starter and no-wing sounds good for a low price sprint. Again JMO. IMCA Tires:rolleyes: ?

I dont know marty around here the 350 is the wanted motor espically a 4 bolt main or casting # that end in 10 most people will give a 305 away.. I had one in a camaro that would scream (for a 305) and most parts are interchanable so they are as cheap as a 350 been a while is it the stroke and bore of a 305 smaller or just the bore... harris could answer that one:eek: :eek: :eek:
