410 Winged Sprints & POWRi Midgets at Tri-City Speedway Sunday October 7th

The racing was excellent and I am in no way unhappy with the shortening of the race. The drivers are the ones who decided to shorten the race, not the promoter. It was my first time to Tri-City in years and I plan on going back more frequently next year. The promoter at Tri City is to be commended on the job of making the race track a showplace. I am not a fan of a dry slick track, but even dry slick the place stayed racy. Maybe a couple hundred loads of that Mississippi river bottom could cure that problem. I left the race track satisfied with the racing, which is more than I can say for a lot of places I went to this year. For those of you that will not be back next year because of a race being shortened ten laps....good that will leave more room for me and the added people I will bring with me.

I was one of those that ran out...why did they decide to shorten it?

I thought Blaney was going to catch him, if it had gone 40

great race, great track...

In the driver's meeting, track officials and drivers decided 30 laps would be better.

I'm not sure anyone was going to catch Gharst..

Those darn midgets sure put on a heck of show..

How are Loyet and the other guy, Harper I believe?

That's really a great show, with the midgets and wings.

I really like the non sanctioned shows where you never know who's going to show until hot laps. It will be interesting to see what Hockett does next year. And yes, I agree... Gharst was bad fast

I believe Harper stayed overnight at the hospital for observation. He was unconscious for several minutes.

But I believe both are home now and going to be ok.

Exactly. Gharst lapped all the way up thru the 8th place finisher. Additionally, there were three lapped cars between Gharst and Blaney at the checkers. Heck, he had a straightaway lead by the 3rd lap.

Perhaps the argument could be made that Jacobs might've had a shot at getting Blaney for 2nd, but barring disaster, it doesn't seem likely that anyone was going to catch Kaley Gharst Sunday night.

So if the drivers decided they wanted a $10,000 to win show, they would get it?I don't think so.I watched a couple of these EXACT cars run 50 laps at Tri-State Speedway without a fuel problem.I sat ALL night and listened to the PA announce a 40 lap feature.Sounds like some one dropped the ball and I just can't blame the announcer.
You just can't let the drivers run the track.Hell thats what happened at Mt Vernon Speedway and now they might as well close.

Tri-state's a little 1/4 mile track, Tri-city is a big 3/8. This was basically a local show, no need to run more than 25-30 laps and have more of a chance to destroy cars.

Well lets see YES Tri State is smaller but they ran 50 GREEN laps and about 20 or so YELLOW laps so I am SURE 40 laps is not too much.
Yeah you're right no need to run the ADVERTISED distance.
Just let the fans think that ALL shows will be shortened.
Its no big deal.
My entire family including our race car was coming next week for the CRATE show but not now as there is NO guarantee the show will run as advertised. They might only run a 10 lap feature, who knows.

I think they'll be glad you stay home...If the sprint feature went ten more laps, I think all you would have seen is some more rubber being laid down. It was a pretty good feature for winged cars...

I'm just waiting for the day the NEXTEL CUP drivers say to the track "I don't want to run 500 miles at Talladega because we might crash in the 100 miles so we want to shorten the race" and then NASCAR agree with them.
I don't think so, naturally NASCAR wants its fans HAPPY so they will buy another ticket but then they run REAL race tracks where the distance is set, advertised, and then followed.

NEW TRACK, NEW OWNER, SAME OLD story.

Had they mentioned over the PA system that the race was shortened and why it was shortened BEFORE the feature there would be a lot less whining. However they didn't think to mention about the sprint feature being shortened until after the race was over. Someone dropped the ball at tri-city for sure. Regardless it was a great race, but it still has to make you think.

Maybe you should just stay home. If you see that good of a show and still care about 10 laps the track doesn't need you.

they decided to only run 30 laps in the drivers meeting, but I believe it was because a few drivers complained for whatever reason. So it was not decided at the last minute. That is the announcers fault for not relaying that info to the crowd

there are several ways to look at this; 1) if a track advertised a 40 lap feature, and only ran a 30, without any notice, and for no reason such as time or curfew, then the fans got something less than they paid for. they have a right to complain.... 2) if the drivers' decided amongst themselves to run a 30 rather than the planned 40, then, still, the fans have a legit complaint. i believe at that point track management should have said "if you give the fans 75% of what i advertised, then i only pay out 75% of what i advertised i pay you guys." i believe that would have changed their minds reeeaaalll quick. after all, all of them towed there knowing the feature was 40 laps. i have noticed some people on here saying things such as it was only 10 laps, stay home; the track doesn't want/ need you back.. that's a real nice attitude to have. i wonder how they would react if they went to their local gas station, put (what they thought)
20 gallons of gas in their truck or car, went in to pay, and were informed that they only got 15 gallons, but, still, you owe for the full 20. i truly believe that they would go ballistic; i know i would. but, they got 75% of what they paid for. according to their own logic, it should be enough. i just used the same % and applied it to something else.i wonder if these same people would accept 75% of what they paid for and not object... i serously doubt it... probably, TCS is a victim of some drivers' decisions here. still, bottom line, the paying fan got shortchanged. in fairness, i have to say i wasn't there, so i am only going on the info in this thread, and what i have been told by people who were there.

That is just how I feel about. The track screwed the fans and now they are trying to make excuses for it.NEW TRACK, NEW OWNER, SAME OLD STORY SCREW THE FANS.

Well since the moderator is threatening me with being BANNED for stating the FACTS about what happened I will close the subject.
Especially since I agree with the 75% thing and offered to settle for a $1 partial refund of my ticket and got NO REPLY from the track.I mean thats what about 5% off when they shorted me 25%.

The facts:

TCS will NOT follow the advertised distance of races because the drivers, that knew the race distance when they hauled in, dictates what the track does.

YES the show was good but it was 10 laps shy of what I paid for. They did it once so travelers be warned they will probably do it again.Don't waste your money on FALSE advertisement.

they put on a great show yes it was 10 laps short but ill be back at tri city i like what kevin and tammy have done
with the track ive seen alot more people this year than last year the new 3/8 mile is AWSOME i like it alot ive been there every week but six this year and will be there this week for the last show of the year

I showed up to the track not even knowing or caring how long the stupid feature was going to be. Midget Racer were you even there? Probly not but you call yourself an open wheel fan.
