aftermarket bodies?

thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, but. I see no need in making anyone add 100# of weight, as there is no performance advantage with an aftermarket body, even if it is aluminum. Your car must still weigh 2950. Although most guys running pure streets probably wouldn't like it, if they can't use their best judgement in making the cars "stock appearing", we may have to go to strict body dimensions such as this for next season.
Thanks DEREK

If you guys are having trouble finding bodies.. Call me I have no problem with it.. HAve a metric, and a Camaro on standby right now. Question is are we going to kill ourselves for cutting these things up 20 years from now??

What in the HE!!

It isnt a pure street, if it has an aftermarket body, sail panels. Whats next?? Fabricated fenders with latemodel/sportsman style flares, and a latemodel nose! Dont get me wrong they look good, but are NOT stock APPEARING!! Therfore a direct violation of the rules...Hoods should be stock sheet metal, full length etc. No sloping of nose unless it came that way from the factory...Corvette only if I remember!! What the he!! are we thinking? Guys the rules are set in place... You know what they mean, we aren't stupid!!! If you want to turn the class into sportsman and ruin it go ahead, just do it somewhere else... I enjoy the class as it was in the begininng. As it was, as it should stay, PURESTREET! Your cars wont be allowed at The Bluff in that fashion, or any other track that enforces Purestreet rules, so you will be stuck with the Rock. Limited to one track the whole year. I dont even think Farmington would allow, some of the suggestions being put forth. The question is?? Where are we or do we think we are going? If we start screwing this class up, we wont have it in 10 years, or we will do what we have done twice since 1980. We will re-invent the class because we have outdollared, ourselves... Dont believe it?? History repeats itself, but only when people are to dumb to stand up and say HEY!! Lets not screw this up.!!! I'd like to say JMO... But I know better!! Jason Brewington..

Jason,

That is why they shouldn't have put that in the rules so vaquely. It would've been alot less hassle to say factory stock body OR speedway's monte carlo ss fender/door package(really stock appearing) and the Performance Bodies 81 camaro. Wouldn't have allowed much for the other brands, but it would've helped out with the most popular stuff. And it would've opened pandoras box on the body issues.;)

Heck, my vintage car is more purestreet than those rules are...with exception to the front fenders being removed...

The Performance Bodies 81 camaro is the one in question. These do not look like camaros. There are other companies that make camaro ( and monte) bodies that do look completely stock. One guy who will be racing with us has one of these bodies and you could not tell it is aftermarket if you didn't know it. He also said this body was advertised in the back of circle track magazine (don't rememeber the brand right now) and maybe just a little cheaper than the Performance Bodies.
The point is, you can buy an aftermarket body that has all of the correct contours, curves and body lines that make it stock appearing for about the same money as the PB.
I am not going to budge on this issue because out of a field of 15-20 cars, maybe 2-3 guys bought and installed a body that does not meet the rules. Everyone else (minus these 2-3 guys) read the rules as they were intended and made their bodies look the way they are supposed to.

I don't know what's with all the talk here. IT AIN'T A DAMN PURE STREET CLASS ANYMORE ANYWAY and will never be again. That has already been settled. I don't understand why you don't just change the friggin' name of the friggin' class but keep the rules enforced for the cheapest class you possibly can get. I can recall a few years ago, before I even began racing, a certain individual had a car that was not completely (God forgive me for saying this) "stock appearing"! I wondered then what the deal was but did not have much knowledge of the rules so I never questioned it. It IS not that I didn't like the guy, in fact I enjoyed racing against him later, but it does open up a few more questions, that I WILL NOT ask. So how 'bout we say this...1st: the rules may not have been as clear as should have been considering that people, yes that includes me & YOU, will take every advantage we can get. Probably because as stated before, it's no longer a PURE STREET class and you need all the help you can get against those who can actually afford to race. And yes, I know, these, um, "non" stock appearing bodies do not really give a racer an advantage. But 2nd: it sounds as though there may actually be a tech man who gives a rats *** about what is legal and what is not no matter who you are, just hope he doesn't go overboard. And IF this is correct there are gonna be some pissed off people, but those will probably be the ones trying to take each advantage to the limits or beyond, so GET THE **** OVER IT. Racing season has not even started yet and already grown men are crying like little girls. Makes me wish I had my own "legal, stock-appearing" car so I beat all your asses and give you a real problem to bawl over.

Ya know, I'm not even sure I give a **** whether it's pure street or not, just as long as it's not called something it ain't. And as long as the rules are THE RULES and not being changed every 5 minutes for one reason or another. I wish some of these idiots would stop and think about the chance and opportunity that they have and be f'n thankful instead of whining over every little detail. It's not just at Fredrock, it's freakin' everywhere. I swear male racercar drivers have to be the biggest crybabies I've ever seen. They make it VERY obvious that you do not need a set of ***** to drive a racecar, much less win.

And by the way, Tom, don't call me your sister....this ain't Washington County. Not to mention, that would make Dusty my brother. Ugh!

Jesus, someone get their Wheaties pissed in this morning? Sister is just a term of friendship, not a declaration of kinship! And whats wrong with Dusty? He is one of the few people in the racing community that I can count on!

Well, what's wrong with Dusty? Nothing, I guess, he is just the only one kind enough to continue to be friendly to you, since you piss everyone else off. Speaking of Wheaties, maybe you should check yours before consumption. Never know...people at work may just seem a little nicer.

And as for crybabies in a previous post of yours, well I will just let your words speak for themselves. And don't be dissin' my boy Dusty. Besides, I got 2 friends, used to be 3!

And I would also know exactly how to get them back. Doesn't take much effort when dealing with the well-trained. Get any smooches from the men at work yet? Cause I'm sure they all thought you were hot with that purple lipgloss on!

That was a dirty trick. I'm gonna owe ya one big time for that. Now that you mention it though, the service manager, Fast Eddie Hunt, was giving me some queer looks this morning. Ha ha. Derek, the numbers are AR473 and AR472, 472 being the coldest and hardest to find, go with the AR473.
