Allied...Now is the time. Street Stocks at Pevely for '13?

and just so you know... I'm not anti Street Stock... Lock the rules the way they are for 10 years and it may be fine... if you don't it will be just like the sportsman. JMO

your killin me with the pic cause it aint none of the top runners i could find...like the point idea

Boy, this got way off subject. Just a question how many drivers would build a SS for pevely and actually show up this time if they would say that they are running them this year?? I know the 81 would be back.

as long as the head line stays at the top of this board we are good man...glad to hear you'll be back there if they run!!! they will be missing out if they dont run em but we just need to hang tight and see wht don comes up with

I like the SS just the way they are...these guys are always changing stuff up with designs and lettering !

You like them I like them, but the point here is, to many, LM and Mods only, all else is junk, and Joe average fan, they look like a bunch of old '80s cars racing. If they had more modern and different make bodies (that people could relate too.) It might put new life into a old tired racing devision. Some of the guys do a great job with the car graphics, but that does not change the fact it is still and old car. Late Models and Modifieds look like racing cars and though they slowly change their look over the years, they are what people know as a pure built for racing cars. (Although a open wheel person might disagree) As we all know, years ago street stocks as a support class were just that, a stock car. As with all devisions, but especially something like street stock, they morph into purpose built racing cars and have nothing to relate to their name. In the racing vernacular the work "stock car" means racing car with fenders. To keep the cars up to date NASCAR for years has allowed front drive bodies on old style rear drive chassis. I just suggesting something similar. And I also understand reluctance on the part of the SS owner/drivers. It would mean finding a later model car cheap in a wrecking yard, and, I know, because I have done it, the hassle of gutting a body for racing. I don't know, maybe I'm just blowin' smoke... I just feel people would pick up on a racing class that had bodies that are newer and not all the same.

I see your point....not sure it has anything to do with getting cars. I'd be open to that idea but the bad part is yet another change to separate local cars from other regions. I don't know the answer.

But....back on topic. Don...who is holding up a decision? Anything us drivers can do to help?

Dave

exactly Dave the cars from different regions are so far apart no one can run here or there without changing a lot of stuff. Sh-t if Tri city rains out them cars cant even go to Jacksonville and run up front there cause of it. Hightland is the same way with Macon. I personally would like to see these tracks in our area come together more and work together instead of trying to keep the cars pinned to there track....

IMCA and USRA already allow newer monte Carlo bodies on older monte frames. The street stocks around here are alot like the IMCA hobby stocks so your not really getting away from other tracks

most of the 90's cars are the proper wheel base,we will have one done in a couple months with a different body style. would be sooner but the shop is expanding next month!

Hey frye fan u are always so negative towards the support classes where do u think all those late model drivers got their start ,most of them started at the bottom. And those nice purses those lm guys race for is provided by the help of the support classes. Without us there wouldn't be a lot of tracks able to stay open.Thats just they way it is.

allied will have a meeting in the future [possibly november] im sure it will be discussed for 2013, hopefully ray will givem another shot!

Finally someone....someone with a brain, the little quote "without us there wouldnt be alot of tracks stay open" is exactly what the sportsman and street stocks need to fix, you guys work hard on your cars, your money is the same color that the LM and Mod guys spend, I wouldnt want to be called "the support class" period but only you guys behind the wheel can fix that... its called sticking together, 3 things i know one must do to keep a job,#1 is make yourself wanted,#2 is make yourself needed and #3 is know your job.... both sportsman and street stock guys know there job really well, know figure a way to stop being called the support class, come up with a plan that Ray and other track owners wont say no to.

I built the 4 car in 1997 for Brian Dawson... It is currently drivin by Jon Ripperada.

Extreme just wanted to say Wow...you gotta be proud and I gotta give you credit for building a car that still kicks buutt for so many years later...very nice !

Dang in a couple more years he can race both, sportsman and vintage...lol, just jokin ! and A huge Gratz to Jon, he sure can drive the wheels off that 196 !
