Tri-City Speedway Attention All Tri-City/Highland Street Stock Owners & Drivers!

a spacer is any solid object the takes up space.....so i always had the screw type spring bucket and set my car up with all that 400lbs of lead...then i took them out and WELDED the adjuster to the threads so they were no longer adjustable. I know some guys who weld the bucket to the top of the spring pocket but leave the adjusting plate loose, that is illegal. IF the guys caught had them and they were not welded and no longer adjustable then that is out right illegal......I dont know what they had, but spacets were allowed not adjustable devices.

I agree with you DIRTCHAMP77 the cars in question were not welded. So they are an adjustable spring bucket rules say are not legal till now. Because the majority of the car had them they are legal. Glad someone else understands the rule the same way I read it.

If your going to allow shims spacers and "adjustable" spring buckets and adapters might as well throw in weight jacks. It does the same thing and easier to install. Do i think its right? No! Funny how all these years guys ran " street stocks" without having to do all that to their cars " to make them handle". Heck back in 82 we built a hobby stock that would run midpack in todays world. Ran monroe shocks. 9 inch rear end. Had a station wagon right front spring. No quick steer! I still have the lap times and they were equal to the 90's streets stock times. You dont have to have adjustable this or shimmed that. Stock 400 with a rochester untouched 2 bbl rochester. No lead in the car and never scaled it. Simple times for a " hobby class".

As i said people are over engineering a lower tier class. Just like the hornets. Why dont people who have all this time money and energy go bigger move up and let the guys running for fun and experience do iust that? Car count is dropping. If you keep over engineering and outspending the guys who do it for fun well sooner or later youll have about 6 cars all modified street stocks running over each other for what? You lost 7 cars since the beginnning of the year. Id bet least half left due to they got tired of their "100 percent legal no grey areas street stock" being beat by cars modified in such areas. Go ahead and say it again. Winning starts in the garage? I think it starts with a cuttin torch welder and some dollars being spent

The weight jacks and moving the shocks are only to make the car handle better. Spending dollars on race cars make them handle better. As ive said we seem to be all about giving guys ways to spend more money to go fast. I personally think it needs slowed down to make a driver hone his actual driving skills and not break the wallet doing so in a beginner's class. Its just a thought

After reading through this thread I noticed a common theme of people concerned about the cost that weight jacks would put on the racer if they had to go to weight jacks. I took the time and did some research to see what the cost actually are comparing adjustable spacers to weight jacks.

Cost of Adjustable Spacers

For one adjustable spacer it is $34.99 that would be a total of$139.96for all four corner of the car.

Weight Jacks Costs:

All the parts and accessories add up to $24.97 that would be a total of$99.88 for all four corners of the car.

Now what you are going to say is well if I run weight jacks I have to get racing shocks.... I have been watching this class closely for a few years and have noticed that the guys up front have a certain blue and yellow shock on their cars (you do the homework to figure out the brand).

Cost of the blue and yellow shocks for stock mount shocks: Standard valving is $65.00 a piece and $99.99 a piece for custom valving. Let just look at the custom valving b.c. thats what you should do anyways total cost for 4 shocks are$399.96.

Cost of racing shocks (same brand): $114.99 a piece and a total of $459.96for 4 shocks.

So according to my math the difference of adjustable spacers to weight jacks is$39.98. The difference between 4 stock mount shock and 4 racing shocks is$60.00. So weight jacks will only cost a NEW pure stock racer a total of $20.02 more. That is just new pricing I am sure you guys could find some good used shocks for a cheap price as well.

I know that was a long post but I wanted to stress that cost should not be what is holding you guys back from getting the weight jacks. I have working on both types of cars with and without jacks and people for $20.02 more give me some weight jacks baby!!!!

Bond,

I don't think that is the point being stressed. What everyone is saying is that these are "Street Stocks". This is a class that pays 150 bucks to the winner lol. How can you justify at all 90% of what goes into one of these cars. Its a broken record but evolution of this class destroys the roots on which it was based. They will become sportsman AGAIN and AGAIN they will become extinct. Couple guys show up with adjustable spacers this week so rules change. Next week guys show up with holley carbs. THIS IS THE EXACT THING THAT HAPPENED WITH SPORTSMAN AND OUR CLUTCHES! It never ends. It is a fun class to watch but everyone and their brother knows that what we know as "Street Stocks" will be gone within a few years. Keep pushing the envelope and promoters will continue to let it slide. It has nothing to do with saving the racer money. Anyone that believes that is foolish. It has everything to do with keeping car counts up in the lower classes to pay the higher classes purses.

New stock shocks, stock location, no weight jacks, spacers, etc-$280.00.

Savings of $279.84.

Get rid of all that stuff and save the racer some cash. I don't think it matters to the track or the car if that stuff is installed, the only guy who wants it is the driver to improve handling, etc, go faster. If you don't have it, you just drive with what you have. If cost is an issue, then remove stuff that costs money and isn't safety related.

The rules say that IF IT'S NOT WRITTEN IT WILL BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL. Sounds like that covers that grey area to me.

Rule change to help the ass kissers and a big sponsor at the track is all this mess is about! He shoulda seen dq and the end of it! But no go change shit mid season to keep them safe!
