Note from Kevin Gundaker Re: Factory Stock 4-Cyls
Were having a vote at the rules meeting on Sunday
January 25th. If we have a good interest and see we can get more than 10-12 we will keep the class.

We want to keep the class, but we need support from the drivers. Were changing the purse to $100 to
win and $25 to start.

Need to get ahold of drivers and have them attend the meeting your votes will make a big impact on whether we keep the class or not.

Thanks
Kevin

This class allows our future racer to get the experience they need on the way to the higher classes and at the same time allowing the budget racer to have a chance to race when they might not get to race otherwise. I strongly believe for every year that the Gundaker’s run the Factory Stock 4-Cyls they are investing in the future of their race track. If you agree then let your voice be heard and cast your vote, attended the rules meeting, or give them a call/e-mail.

January 25th - Rules Meeting at Hilltop Auction & Banquet Center in Alton, IL at 1pm

I understand that 4-cylinders bring money to the pits and decent car counts. But, from most of the fans perspective that is when people go to the restroom or to the beer stand. Nothing against your class. From a fans point of view, we have to do something to make the races go by faster. Iam not a driver just a crew member, I just think we need to cut something. Kevin wants a vote from the drivers. I would say most people voting on this poll are fans. Good luck with your fight.

I have raced in this class and its a good way for the less funded guy to get on the track, or get your feet wet,I have moved up to street stock, and I think that they should keep the class around, but seems like they start out the year with a good car count but as the season goes on the car count drops off..

It seems to me that if one is looking to speed up the program, targeting the class that likely causes the fewest yellows is a bit misguided.

Generally speaking, I think most tracks across the country need to take a look at reducing the number of classes they run. But the Factory Stocks put on as good of racing as any class at Tri City. And more to the point, they put on some of the cleanest racing.

If they want to speed up the program, how about black-flagging drivers who deliberately bring out the yellow on the first lap because they didn't get a good start? Or making the class that caused the most yellows the week before run last all night the following week?

this is a great class i raced one for about 4 years but this track is to big for them it is hard on motors and rear ends

i really thought this track was going to be a great track but now i wish it was the old 1/4 mile

I've raced a hornet for two years and i am racing a hornet next year as well. The track is not "to big for hornets" some people run them on the edge of breaking to get the most power out of them and then they break. The Hornet class is a great starter class. I think that Tri City should keep them because we have very few yellows and our races don't take that long. Maybe they should keep the hornets and also bring back the sportsmen and run 6 classes a night.....

I think that maybe there should be a separate class on separate night for 4 cylinder late models. Maybe a show with 4 cyl LM, RAMS and hornets.

Tri-City already black flags any car that brings out an intentional yellow at anytime in the race. Also, if you spin or cause any kind of caution on the first lap, you go to the back. You don't get your spot back. So they already have rules in place to prevent that kind of thing from happening.

I'm not looking for any racers to lose a place to race. If you're averaging 14 cars a night, your fellow hornet guys need to show up. As far as doubleclutch saying its a money thing that is simply incorrect. No way will 14 cars (even paying a cheap payout) contribute more than a class such as Sportsman. If Kevin decided to run HIS Sportsman National Rules he will have a Consi in the class every night. There are many Godfrey cars and ex-TCS cars that are sitting due to the lack of tracks they can race. Highland isn't an appealing choice for some racers. Our last season of Sportsman at TCS Kevin had too many problems to make us worth keeping. I'm not trying to speak for him, but i'm sure he is worried about a repeat. Also, more cars means more races, which means longer nights. I'd love to come back to TCS for Sportsman, but I would feel for the class of racers that leave.

I might be a bit partial here... but I want you to keep the Pro-4's as part of your program. Just voicing my opinion. We've run there in the past and would like to continue. :D

With every class spending so much money, there is no end to how far one will go to win. Does anyone remember when street stocks were accually "STOCK!!!" None of the weight jacks, steering quickners, ANY of that crap! Mods, "street stocks", latemodels... you namne it, have gone WAY TO FAR WITH SPENDING!!!! This is one class I love to watch no matter where I am. Reason being, no one is spending $150k only to go out, blow it up, crash, get pizzed when they get beat by someone slower, etc... The 4cyl. class is where the true STOCK of the sport lays. Once you get rid of them, you see future racers turn elsewhere... atv, bike, etc... Not saying racing a atv is bad, I'd love to see more and more join MY sport. Which is why I flipped to another sport. To dam much money being out into a P.O.S class that is supposed to "STOCK AND ECONOMIC"....BS.... Keep the 4cyl class, get rid of something else....

Some of you need to look back on your ROOTS and think about where you came from....

I think pro 4 cars are dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed anywhere. no disrespect to anyone. jmo.

Care to explain??? Them cars are just as safe as any other car as long as the drivers/builders know what they are doing... Maybe EVERY car should be inspected to the fullest before going on the track???

I agree with Hooper Fan 59.....care to explain? It's kinda like owning a fire arm... it's not the darn gun killing the folks, it's the idiot who pulls the trigger. It's not the cars that are dangerous...it's the individual who's driving that makes it a lethal weapon. But I'd love to hear why you think WE are so dangerous. I personally havent taken out another Pro-4 driver, but I have been fliped and rolled by others...BUT it was a true accident. Heck the upper class cars wreck worse than we ever do, they go twice as fast when they're doing it. Have you ever driven a Pro-4? We worry about safety of ourselves and the other car/drivers just as much as the other classes. We just dont have the fortunes sunk into our cars as they do, (even though we'd like to).

I dont know where you get this, there is a risk in any kind of racing, I raced 4cyl class for 2 years, I have been bashed into, spun around, beat up, and flipped over!! my safety stuff was like NASCAR, my cage was better than most I have seen, and I would drive one again, I moved up to street stock, arent they dangerous too, There is less yellows in 4cyl class and wrecks than the other classes, ever watch a Mod race, more yellows than any other class, but they will never get cut,,, I wouldnt mind seeing dwarf cars make it around here. They could race 2 nites run Late Models Crates and mods one nite run Sportsman, street stock, 4cyl the next...

pro4

seen alot of these cars, roll bars welded, or bolted to floor pans, the cars go too fast, especially at tri city and i 55, in the event of a high speed accident, the cars tend to shred or rip apart at the floor pans thus eliminating the roll cage you thought was protecting you. wasnt there a thread on here not long ago about this very thing where the racer unfortunately died, I dont believe it was local though. racing is very dangerous, as we all know, and i believe these cars raise the odds of being hurt while driving one ten fold or more. again, jmo.

With that being said, I kind of agree with you. However, every car takes a chance of being ripped apart like that. This is where you just have to look at other cars, and see how bad they have been after a violant wreck... I have seen latemodels frames literly rip in half during a big roll over or a t-bone nit. Matt Taylor several years ago had it happen to him, I was helping John eck at Brownstown(Fayette cnty) when he took a real big hit in teh DS door. We almost had to replace the entire half of the car due to that. Tore welds like they were taffy... So, in a sence, I also agree, to dis-agree. Mainly, I see your point!
