Bedrock Summer Shootout Saturday July 24

By all accounts, it seems as if there is going to be a really good turnout for the Summer Shootout on Saturday. Thanks for all your hard work John and the Bedrock crew.

A few of us Outlaw guys have been talking about the race format. Back in May there were 22 entries in the Outlaw class of which only 14 could start the feature, which is understandable. What was unfortunate was that 8 karts only got to race two heat races and went home. These guys paid the same amount to race but were shortened on track time because of the great turnout. This seems counterproductive.

Some guys aren't out there to win every week. They are out there for the fun of it, to get seat time, and their entry money is as good as the next guy's.

Would it not be possible to run a B-Main/Feature (10-12 laps)? You could take the top 12 karts from the heats directly to the Feature then run a B-Main for the final two spots, or any combination of numbers to equal 14.

Somebody mentioned that a B-Main would take up too much time. I don't think the time it takes to run 10-12 laps added to the evening would make that much difference.

I think a B-Main would encourage larger kart counts because the entrants know they are guaranteed to get full track time. Most importantly, it keeps everybody coming back.

I personally was the last guy to qualify for the feature in May. What I am proposing would have actually made me run a B-Main to get into the feature. I still think allowing the folks who didn't make the feature the opportunity to get a full race, would be worth it in the long run.

If we have 22 outlaws again saturday Id have to clear it with frank but im almost positive we can run a b main, another thing we are goin to do is have time limits on the races as well. If we have classes that need b mains we will run 8 lap heats, take top 12 and run an 8 lap b main and take top 4. will that work for you guys.
 
I talk to frank and he has no problem with running b mains if need be, they will be 8 laps. We will have time limits on all races on saturday night. B mains will be for any class as well. We will start with 8 laps see how it goes i know its not 12 but at least i got him to 8 lol.
 
In the stock appearing clone class i am goin to open this class up to flatheads as well (5hp) any burris slick right sides will be stamped. Must be 6.5 clone or 5hp flathead stock appearing carb, one spark plug, can run on either gas or alcohol.
