bedrock what a joke!

ya very good point.didnt think of it that way.still wish the kids didnt have to pay entry fees,or race for money.

All of the above posts have brought light on situations/concerns that have been discussed in the past. If we could go back over the years this karting forum has existed, you would see things like...

1) Tracks should pay more to everyone
2) Tracks should pay farther back
3) Tracks should only pay the top 3 so the top 3 make more
4) Tracks have crappy scoring
5) Tracks need transponders
6) The corner flagmen don't pay attention
7) The tracks surface ****s (dusty, rough, too wet...)
8) Etc...I could go on and on

Here's the deal. People will go back and forth on these issues forever!

However, the track owner needs money to fix most of these issues (mainly the payout and track surface.)

Scoring will never be perfect, even with $10,000 worth of transponders. Get on the stock car forum, people are upset about the scoring at a different track every week! Corner flagmen donate their time to work for the racers. Corner flagmen on a Friday and Saturday night are hard to find. Most people would rather be doing something else.

A nice track surface takes time and money. Tractors don't run for free. The grass doesn't cut itself. Lights, generators, freezers, BBQ grills all cost money to buy/maintain. There are many hours spent preparing race tracks. Many hours that most people would not dedicate, or have the time to do.

For the person who started this post, it's understandable after reading your post that you had a bad taste in your mouth when you left Bedrock. Point taken. First impressions do stick with people. Just remember, as kart tracks struggle to stay a float in the midwest, we do have track owners who care enough to put a great effort in every week throughout the summer to give you a place to race. It's not easy my friend.

Justin, great post and the last part is so true. Although even myself I sometimes think some track owners/whatever you want to call them are sometimes hard headed and I would not want there job and after thinking some things over after I calm down, I still would not want there job. So with that said you open my eyes to something I should have done a long time ago and said to everyone that has something to do with everyday operations of ANY kart track THANK YOU for all you do :)
BUT I still think at this level of racing the tracks should keep the money for track improvements. Do any of the dirt kart tracks around have walls or a scale house or proshop? Just asking. It would be cool to see the entry money go to something like that here at Bedrock? Frank you have a realy cool place keep up all the good work <kent>

Sounds like I missed a good night at bedrock, wish I could have been there , sounds like everything is normal still have The same people crying about $$$ in Kart racing that is the real JOKE!!!! If I was in town I would show up & race & pay the $35 bucks & race just for fun of it & like it & not whin about it ! & I should be back to doing that in July some time.

not bashing bedrock but the pit pas is 25 at belclair. the pit pass at bedrock is 15 plus a 20 entry fee. no entry fee at belclair. i wish they would drop the entry fee and not pay the junior classes.give them a trophie or something.

Do you have a kid racing? It's not cheap. Parents pay their fees , gas, entry, pitpass, and repairs, and kids rooms are full of trophies. Pay the kids and keep them coming back. If you wanna be like that, karting should be for the kids and stockcars are for adults.

i do have a kid racing! thats why i said what i said.there is no way possible to even getting close to getting it back so you may as well save the 20 dollar entry fee!

I have friends that have kids that play in club, baseball, soccer and softball. They have to spend about $1,000 bucks just be on the team to help pay for uniforms, umpires and entry fees to tournaments. When those teams play they play for trophies not money. The parents still have to pay for travel, lodging and food and they sure don't get any money back. The parents money back is the pride and joy of there kid having fun and becoming good sports. Does racing cost a little more than those sports, YES, But the point is if you think that kids need to be paid to race you are sadly mistaken. Maybe this sport is to much for you to be in. Maybe a local summer baseball or softball league would be best for you. JMO

what is right for one is right for the other our kids equipment is no cheaper than the adults we don't worry about were pays the most or at all but most kid classes bring in more pit passes and the same amount for entry so why should it be any different

my point was paper rules i got that night stated if more than twelve karts they would pay five spots.im not crying.statn facts. scott i believe you where doing the crying adout the rules on the 390s.

As for paying the kids that play baseball, that would put them into a professional status and could prevent them from college eligability. Two different suituations.

I'm not complaining about about the cost of my kids racing, I'm saying how fair is it that you want to get paid more money for racing and give the kids a trophy. The kids classes pay the same price as you do and usally draw a bigger crowd....parents,family and friends come to see them race. How many do you bring along to support you? This all supports the track and helps with improvements. Maybe this sport is not ENOUGH for you, maybe you need to move up to stockcars, latemodels or nascar, so you can have a bigger payday. And leave gokarts to the kids and their families to enjoy.
OH YEAH!!!!!!!! My kid does plays baseball, football, runs track, runs crosscountry, basketball and races gokarts. So you can keep your oppinions to yourself when it come to MY life.

BAHAHAHAHAHA.....thats funny right there....now if you run opens at Bedrock you have to weigh a bazillion pounds to run anything but the 1940's 10 HP motors lol.....I agree with you 100% rookie36 :)

I Never Cry !!! or Whin!!! If i made a comment about running against 390s on here it was never my own ,All i did was try to help the people who where unhappy about racing aginst them (because they where not legal at the time). & help the people who had them race togeather with some fair rules. If you think you are going to make $$ running go karts or even break even by winning once in a while you would be better off running down to the Casino Queen & spending your $$ there let me know how that works out. If memeory serves me right you where the one whinning about running a 305 against the 390s! I'll still be running my old out dated Stars.

The point was that parents spend a lot of money for other sports and they get nothing in return but the joy of watching them play what ever sport they play. Club sports cost a lot of money to play in and all they get is trophies.

Just to let you know it was not me complaining about the money the track pays back. I would race for a trophy if thats what the track decides. The track does have to survive and that money should go to the track for improvments and maintence. If Frank does make a little money thats ok to. He is a business owner and most owners don't do it for the fum of it. Paying kids is about as silly as having a big money show for clones. That class was for buget racers and then when you add big money you get all of the built motors and more experienced drivers. I am building 2 late models with a buddy and we are using karting to get more seat time. FYI I can state my opinion anywhere I choose. If I upset you in anyway I am sorry. I am not in this for the money. I learned a long time ago that unless you have sponsors most people don't make profit in racing. Again, I am sorry if I upset you in anyway. Jason

Well Well.......
How about that...If Frank does make a little money that is OK???? You people crack me up. This is better than the old Funny Bone comedy club.

NOT UPSET!!!!!!!!! well just a little, lol
If your not in it for the money, then why do I see you running at all the big money shows? Never seen you race Bellerive, Wayne city or even Bedrock til this year, when John and Frank decides to run a series and pay extra money. And if kids only got trophies, they would eventually give up racing and do something else. Trophies fill up Bedrooms fill up quick. A better ideal would be to give them a free entry fee or gift certificate (equal to winnings) for parts or prizes. FYI I'm not here to make money(profit) either, but don't leave the kids out when they invest just as much, if not more. By the way, come on out to Bellerive some time. Not alot of money, but the track has been redone and my kid says it's fast. Bring some friends and have some fun. Also don't forget about Wayne city on Sat. night. Have fun and good luck

I only found Bedrock at the end of last year. I knew about Bel Rive just have never made it there. I work in the car business so I work every sat. unless I am out of town. Bedrock is about an 1:45 min away and last weekend I got home about 3am and it would be hard to get to work at 8am. I though about going to wayne city and bel rive. But it seems that they taylor to outlaw and clones niether which I have. I do think that kids should still race for trophies but you are correct that they should not have to pay as much as the adults. I would hae raced more this year but everytime I want to go it rains or I am out of town. Good luck to you also!
