car counts vs too many classes

My post didnt have anything pertaining to one track at all. I think you got me confused with f40's post. Just creating a cheaper class. Street stocks are not filling a full field at most tracks and thats not a good sign. Yes mullins builds a whopper of a motor but it comes at a cost. Im hearing of b mods having bookoo dollars wrapped up in them to run for $350 a week. Its nuts. Want to spend big dollars run an A mod. But the rules set the way they are makes it legal to do and as with any class dollars rule. Not saying it makes them faster just saying thats what is happening currently. There are ways to make racing cheaper but the way to start off is to seperate from UMP and thats something of a gamble. I just feel there is a huge need to create a very affordable class and make the rules really stupid in a way it doesnt give you any advantage to cheat because its so easy to get caught

Plus if you hooked up with an auction house or insurance firm it could become a nice supply of racing parts(oem style!!!) There are alot of thing that are going to the crusher that shouldnt and coild be reused. It would be a nice business for someone to locate and supply stuff that an OEM class as i would call it could use for their racers. Go around and buy cheap 3 link and leaf cars all over the place. Buy metric and big gm cars for parts as well as full size fords. More the merrier. And as i said play with the bodies! Make them look old school and something to catch peoples eyes. You wouldnt have engines puking their guts out and lasting seasons on end if you keep the rpm's in a certain range but yet let them have enough to run hard.

We used to run on street tires and stock shocks and put on great shows. It can be done. But your bucking the UMP system at the same time doing so.

One thing I've seen Is tracks (not necessarily in stl) not allowing certain factory heads and blocks like mopar 340 heads but allowing Chevy guys to run crate motors or aftermarket parts

If you let the Chevy guys run aftermarket let the mopar and ford guys.

Also why is there only Chevy crate motors allows and not any other companies ?

My bmod is for sale for $4500, it will need $4-5k for motor, carb and tranny. So for under $10k you can have a top car (finished 2nd to Homan last night at TCS) with a brand new crate motor. I know guys who have over 100 nights on the crate motor and only change oil and valve springs.

It's not that expensive.

I think a stock mod class might be the way to go. and another question is there to many tracks running the same classes? Highland started the b mods in the area remember how they got ripped for dropping the sportsman? and then other tracks followed suit. when bville races firday nights we have 2 tracks running late models and 3 tracks running a & b mods. it appears to me that we are pulling cars from other places. I am not in the loop so is there a change coming in classes i.e. a new entry\mid level class that i don't know about. i have always wondered that too why is ford and dodge are not allowed the same lee way as chevy it would seem that i would want as many manufactures as possible. this way we got the ford fans coming to cheer for there cars. has there ever been rule changes that took things away instead of adding the latest shock or motor (improvement) besides taking away the spoilers on the mods boy that really made a difference.

Dave your car is well worth the asking price. Definate top notch car and put a motor in and go to the front piece right there! Im stating more of a beginners class as I feel the street stock class isn't going to be around much longer without filling a full field on a weekly basis. Crates left pretty much for that same reason. Remember what happened to the sportsman class, same deal. I feel there needs to be a revamped beginner class and since frames are going to be one day harder to get might as well prepare a class now and get it going. This is my answer. Right or wrong its what I feel need to be started up. I still feel personally a track could start an independent business buying old chassis and cars for parts and class would explode. But UMP doesn't have rules for such a class and wouldn't allow that at a UMP sanctioned track. Would take an independent track to open up and that's a huge gamble.

I heard Homan paid 25,000 for his car that he just bought. That's what some guys said in the stands. If that's wrong don't beat up the messenger. If that's the case wow! Then again his buddy got chit faced drunk and was falling all over the stands lol!! Had to help him out the gate

Racin90, im not sure who the guy is that you are referring to as being Homans buddy or whatever, but here are facts. Myself, my son and 1 other guy were the only ones with Dusty Friday night, and none of us even drink, as soon as he won we went thru the front gate across the front stretch to get our picture taken. Second, it makes no difference how much money you spend, you still hve to be able to wheel a car to win. Whomever said he gave 25,000 for that car has no clue, if you care enough to look it up, that car was for sale online for $6500 with a quickchange and a bert.

It's still boils down to the guys that have the money or the sponsors will buy bigger better "faster" It's the sanctioning bodies responsibility to keep it affordable for the smaller budget guys at least in the position the tracks have fallen into. Guys run in who may have talent or understand chassis partially but consistently get bit by guys they know have exponentially more money in their ride will give up due to what they believe is an undeniable situation. At the end of the day a guy wants to feel that the playing field is somewhat level. I genuinely believe the bomber cars are so far out of hand it's ridiculous but that being said I thought it was comical to win with very conservative stock equipment while other guys wasted their money.

And racer 90 I don't know you but I've read your posts for years an you seem to have a genuine concern for the budget racer as well. Pls know it hasn't gone unnoticed

Too many classes
Not enough cars for those classes
Too much to field a competitive car
Not enough fan interest anymore
Too many fingers in the pie, i.e. sanctioning bodies, associations, boards, etc.
Same thing week in week out
Not thinking out side the box
Nothing to attract new fans

Not bashing , just my observations. Was at a county fair last night and events like these are taking the fan base during the summer months. Been to several so far this year and they are packed for 3 -4 nights with non stop entertainment, races just can't compete anymore for the entertainment dollar.
