Congratulations to the 2005 STLRACING.COM Award Winners!

as a former board member of the fan club, and a former member, i am truly disappointed in the fan club's decision to not allow these awards to be presented at their banquet. it is short-viewpointed decisions such as these that put the fan club in the predicament that it is in. while other fan clubs in the midwest are thriving..(the kc area fan club has approx.900-1000 members),this fan club is doing extremely poor by comparison. i think the fan club needs to invite more people in to their activities,do more, and get a better name out for itself than make poor decisions like this. for a long time there, the fan club couldn't even put out a newsletter on a timely basis. i am not anti-fan club; i just think that the current board is doing a poor job of p.r. thanks, art knepper.

The St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club has declined my request to present these awards at their banquet. Which is OK, if they allowed me to do it, they were worried they would start getting other requests from different organizations to present their awards at the fan club banquet.

So, I won't have a specific place to hand these awards out this year. I can get these awards to the winners via several ways.

Rodney Melvin - Most likely will give him his award at the UMP Banquet on Jan 21.
Trista Stevenson - If she will be at Tri-City Speedway's banquet, I will give hers at that time. If not, we can arrange mailing it.
Al Kreke - Let me know the best method of getting it to you. I will be at the Fan Club Banquet on Jan 14, UMP Banquet on Jan 21 and Tri-City Banquet on Jan 28.
Jimmy, I saw the plaques you had made for your award winners. Wow. I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed. Congratulations to all the award winners and kudos to you Jimmy for your continued support of the racers in this region...

The plaques turned out awesome. I couldn't be more pleased with them. Thanks to the great work of Cody Enterprises.

Although it pains me to ever agree with Art, I feel he is completely right here. I've tried very hard to help out whenever I can with the fan club, but it has become ever so obvious to me that they need a shake-up or I fear they will be disappearing off the face of the Earth. I completely understand that there is a lack of numbers in the club right now and that has hurt them in a number of areas, but now I'm also starting to see why there is a lack of numbers. I use to see Jesse and Carol drive all over the Midwest going to the different tracks, setting up the fan club booth at the various events and being a big part of the activities. Nobody could expect them to continue that, especially with Jesse's health problems and I totally commend them for all they've done. Plus Eileen goes above and beyond the call of duty to get things together information wise and so forth for the banquet and other items. Once again, just like Art, I am not anti-fan club, I just think somehow there needs to be a HUGE change in the way this club thinks and operates.

By the way, my opinion on this was not altered in the slightest because of the screw-up with the plaques (and program listing) of the racers I sponsored. Although to say I was not happy with that was a massive understatement.

Now is the chance, Their are I think six Board positions open. VP, Membership Sec. Treas. 2 Board Positions and Sargent of Arms, I also think if someone wants it the newsletter editor could be theirs.

Cody does do GREAT Work I know we have never been disapointed.

Congradulations to the winners! I sure would like to get ahold of Trista. I would like to see if she and her car are available for the car show in Alton, IL the first weekend in March. Rodney Melvin and his car will be at the show. If any one can help me get ahold of her let me know.

Doug would make an excellent president. That would be a great start.

Pinky: "What are we going to do tonight, Brain?"
Brain: "Same thing we do every night Pinky. Try to take over the world!"

Seriously, though, thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll have to ponder that for a bit.

Give it some serious thought, Doug. You are incredibly knowledgeable and I also believe you would be great for the job. It's been a loooonnnngg time since I've seen you, but I've always had great respect for you. Another thing - whether people are agreeing or disagreeing with you - they ARE listening to you.

Racin Rocks, you can get hold of Trista at 618-960-1394 I should have her car done by then, although she may have softball practice or a game. Kenny
