Curtis Boyer

Ever think the sprint cars are not as safe as they should be??

I understnd that Mr.Boyer got hit hard, but these Sprint cars are being made so lite that i think it is not as safe as it should be. Drivers should not get hurt that bad. :)

dunno who u are (my last name) but i dont think even a couple thousands thicker tube walls would hold up against a wide open sprint car at knoxville. he probably got hit at 120mph +. this is a dangerous sport, stuff happens that even the safest car isnt going to hold up to. lets just hope for the best possible recovery for C.Boyer.

guys it doesn't matter how safe they try and make racecars and how much safty stuff we wear.it is racing and i dont' like saying this but it is the risk we take everytime we get into the racecar.

recovery fund

According to the Knoxville raceway webpage as of 11:30PM CDT on Aug. 18:
Curtis is in stable but critical condition. A recovery fund has been established for:
Curtis Boyer
c/o Union Savings Bank,

Sedalia, MO 65301

My thoughts and prayers are still with him and his family members

Does anyone know what happened to Boyer's car after they threw the tarp over it? Maybe it could lend some clues as to what exactly happened with the cage failure. But I agree with racerdb22 that likely no amount of tubes of any thickness could have survived that kind of impact.

some people that were at kville said they took the car to a barn and then about an hour later a trailer picked the car up and who knows where it went from there.i really don't think it was a cage failure when you get hit in the cage at 120 there is nothing you can do.i am not for sure but from the way it sounds boyer would have been ok if something wouldn't have hit him in the head they said his helmet was cracked on the left side so i think he got hit by the front bumber of the mock car.they said on hoseheads message board that he opened his eyes a couple times yesterday so if that is true that is good news to hear.

opened his eyes

on pitgate.com it said that Curtis opened his eyes today. thats definately a good sign. keep the cards, prayers, and money coming. from what i hear his family is having problems paying for the medical costs. please help in any way.
