From a fans point of view, what changes would you like to see at I-55 raceway next year?

Ok now that is is a year down the road since the switch to coors how were the beer sales vs before the bad move? Did the move pay off for the track? Not just in money made but in the amount of cans sold? So an off brand (wanta be BUD) is a bright side in BUD Town? Man people will drink anything. :) Seems to be a lot more votes on here for sprints rather than the show we have now. Bringing in another class is not going to help just make the night longer

POWRi Midget show, last time SMOKE was there. Do something in conjunction with the Gold Crown or something, BRING MORE OPEN WHEEL BACK TO I-55

More delicious ice cream drumsticks in the ice cream & snow cone stand. Never run out of this delectable item! Somehow word has spread that this is a delicious novelty...I don't know how that happened?

I'll touch on several topics here.

The track - They usually get it right. Don't change a thing.

The Program - They tend to run a smooth, quick moving show. I-55 Raceway is probably among the top 10 in the country for weekly racing. To the guy who wanted changes here, you're nuts!

The food - It's track food. It is what it is. They're not pretending to be gourmet. If you don't like it, come to town early and try out the BBQ joint just as you enter town. I hear they are really good. I'm definately going to try them once in 2012.

The Beer - I don't drink alcohol so I have no opinion here.

The soda - I would definately like to be able to by 20 oz bottles at the consession stand.

the schedule - It's basicly the same every year. Remember, this is a weekly racing track that does a few special shows. TCS is a special events track that also does weekly racing. The mentality is definately different. I'm not saying one is better than the other either. Just different. I-55 is not going to run all the different kinds of specials that TCS does. That's just not who they are.

Thoughts?

The BBQ is ok....:)The weather and the river make it hard enough to run a full season, but I would definitely enjoy seeing an open wheel show at I-55! ( NO WINGS):)

Jason:
I understand the difference between I55 & Tri about the special events versus regular. & your right the weekly programs do run smooth. I just think with the transponder system maybe they could get some bigger events, which should mean more income. It's a great track, especially those of us who like to sit close, turn 4 seating for my money is the best seat of all the local tracks.Anybody know what the transponder system cost? As far as the food you are right track food is track food, the only upgrade I would like is the brats & the bottled soda. in fact I wish Tri would get Bel-Clairs brats. But the dice thing they do at Bel-clair & I55 doesn't seem right, if you ran the heats to get a spot up front, why have a chance roll of the dice screw the driver.

I-55 uses transponders when WoO Sprints, WoO LMS and UMP Summer Nationals are there.

MORE OPEN WHEEL RACES!!! I love the Outlaws there! Bring them back like usual but work with either USAC for a sprint/midget weekend or POWRi for a couple shows of midgets. They could also get with MOWA and run a POWRi midget/ MOWA sprint show!

I love this track! Its just a shame they only have open wheel cars twice a year :(

Jim:
Searching my memory, you are right they did on the WoO night I was there, didn't make the
summer natiional, I just got to get out of my mind that one bad night they had whereIi had to
leave before the features so could be at church early in morning. So then the main thing is herky to keep from flooding.

I don't think the flooding issue can be addressed without spending millions of dollars. It is a lot more than just the road in.

I'd be all for another one of those wednesday night summer races. USAC sprints or midgets would be great! Or why not USMTS?!?!? lets see how some of the baddest modifieds in the country do against our local STL talent..

Lighting... on the track?

From a photographers point of view, it is the best lit track in the STL area and that includes Tri-City...

When you sit in the bleachers the lights in the infield are right at eye height, Tri City doesn't have that problem.

I-55 could right now get any big show they wanted. That's not who they are. I don't think it's who they want to be. If they wanted to be that, they'd be that already.

refill the mustard & ketchup bottles occasionaly....theyre empty within an hour of start time....if they ever were ?...they almost never work or have anything in them

how to change I-55

1. Dont use the Water truck to make it WFO every night.
2. make it 40'S only for the late models like Quincy, il did.
3. Bigger weekly pay outs.

I-55 1995 2012
pit pass member $12 $22
non-member $15 $25
good late model motor $15,000 $40,000
late model tire $80 $160
payout $1,000 $1,200
Every thing doubles but the payout why is that ?
