fraud.

fraud (frad) n. 1) deceit; a trick. 2) dishonest practice; breach of confidence. 3) a cheat.

To claim someone is cheating is a pretty generic accusation. Maybe it would help if we got into specifics. I sat in at the Highland rules meeting and every question asked about hornets was given the same response- "It has to be stock." Motor, transmission, rear end/transaxles, intake,...stock! stock! stock! The last time I checked "stock" meant unaltered from the factory. In other words, if it's adjusted or TWEAKED(Hi!) in any way, then it's illegal. Period. For example, when your left front wheel is spaced out 3 to 4 inches from your fender guess what? It's not stock. Also see: fuel pressure regulators; larger throttle bodies; ignition coil packs; aluminum power pulleys;...maybe even that magic little bottle with a switch conveniently located within reach of the driver. Sound familiar? Throw in some ASE certified mechanics to tune the car with computerized diagnostic equipment and a top late-model team to set up the chassis. Sounds pretty stock to me, eh?

For those arrogant enough to claim that the rest of the hornet drivers are playing catch-up because they don't work on their cars enough: Why don't you go through the pits Sat. night, walk right up to each hornet driver and say "You aren't winning because you are too lazy and dumb to work on your car." Let me know how that works out for you. In the meantime stop trying to blow smoke up everyones *sses. Noone is buying it. Not the fans and certainly not the other drivers. It doesn't take a genius to see what is going on.

I have read some really ignorant posts about the situation at Highland and the hornet division. People running their mouth about wanting to brawl ("Meet me at the top of the hill..." are you kidding me?) and wreck people intentionally. Why would someone stoop so low as to get in a fistfight over hornet racing? That's only a good idea if you want to get thrown out of the track or worse arrested. Another stupid idea is wrecking people intentionally. The last thing you should want is to see someone hurt in a racecar.

So fightings not a good idea, neither is taking someone out intentionally. Maybe you could complain to the track officials but I wouldn't advise that. Not unless of course you want to recieve incredibly questionable calls against you over and over. Or they might just tell you to pack up your sh*t and go home.

If you are that pissed, then why didn't you show up at the rules meeting to try and vote out dual overhead cam? Tri-City doesn't allow it and neither does Pevely. Too late for that though. So what can you do? Take the only course of action that will ultimately matter- DON'T SHOW UP! Prove that there are other racetracks out there with rules designed to create a level playing field. Hornets are the last class that you should get out-dollared and out-resourced but that's what the average Joe is up against-Fraud. You can take it week in and week out, or you race elsewhere. My decision has been made.

Hey, Aaron very well said. I also was told 100% stock when they came out with this class at highland. I told charley that the hornets need to have there own tech person. He said that i was right and they were looking for someone and it had to be someone from out of town that noone knew of. That way noone could say favoritism on any call that was consirdered cheating. Your still going to race highland though right? See ya at the track Joe

racinredneck what happened to the 8up car got loose and came down on aaron it was the 8up problem we got it on tape not aarons but aaron got blacked flaged again for bs why was the 75 car not blacked flag for what he did in the feature

Racin Redneck: What happened between me and the 8up? First let me say that I don't know the guy in the 8, but I'm sorry that his car got torn up regardless of who's fault it was. To be honest though, I really wasn't driving to the best of my abilities. You see, I was out there daydreaming about the best ways to win a race and not get black-flagged. You know, the little tricks of the trade that seperate the great ones from the also-rans. Things like jumping restarts, brake-checking the field, driving through the infield under green after you have to start shotgun, and flipping Sandiford if necessary.

Good luck Joe!

Aaron I have to agree with everything you said about the hornet class. It does get really frustrating when all we seem to do is play catch up. We came here from a different track where we had problems and so far Highland is not as bad as we have had. And no matter how frustated we might get, I will NOT make my car "illegal" just to win a race. My conscience isn't worth that.

Yea I do get your point Aaron even though I am a fan of Eilers but if we all really wanted to go on here about should, coulda, woulda been black flaged things then we could start a hole catagory.

Hornets were started to be fun. Unfortunately the rules were written to give unfair advantages. It isnt worth the time to complain and complain. My racing team plans to fix our problem. We are moving up to a bomber next year, hopefully, where the rules have been written to give equal competition, whether you are a good driver or a bad driver. I honestly think that eilers should do the same. If that kid can take a car thats been supposedly professionally "tweaked" and race the he77 out of it, and win a lot, then I think its time he got into a "real" racecar, with a V8 and rear wheel drive. God knows he could afford it. Lets not forget, the hornet class was meant to be fun. If drivers are going out there cheatin, then let God or Charlie deal with it. I know for a fact the car I have is low budget, no sponsors, and will not keep up with Eilers, or any of the dohc cars. But we are out there for the sheer fun of it. Next year, I will have a car that I wont have to take to a shop to have it plugged into a computer to fix. Im talking carbeuration baby. Im talking V8s baby. Chevy 350's. Not 2.5L chevys. Not 2.3L Fords. But heh, I am just sick and tired of seeing the same cars win all the time. I got a dang good driver, and I know we can do very well with bombers. So I tip my hat to all the low budget, hard working, big dreamin hornet racers who dont have all the resources as other hornet drivers, and see ya at the track! Lets go racin! by the way, Aaron has made a very good point, see ya at the track Aaron!

The team I am with spent a whoppin $500 so for on the car. Tha includes the car, rollcage, fuel cell, seat and harness. We are running pretty decent with the Eilers and Hemann cars. Also, when we have problems, we don't plug them into a computer, we trouble shoot ourselves and fix the problem.

But, I will agree, Eilers has a little too much into a hornet. I also heard Aaron Hemann (71) has $13,000 alone in his engine. But thats just what I heard. To me, that is unbelieveable when I look at our car competeing with the high $$$$ cars and we only spent $500.

THats why I stated, I heard. I only took it as a rumor because I did not have them tell me. Another thing I heard is that Eilers has spent like $6000 on his car. That is another rumor I heard, but lookin at his car, I have no reason to think different.

You people have to take into consideration that Eilers dad owns ADR and the cars that they are racin used to be wrecked cars that they fixed. I helped them with one of the cars where the whole roof was caved in. There was a problem with every one of those cars before they had it out there racing. Now about Heimanns Engine well last year I did a lil researchin on the net because I saw this sticker on Heimans car that said SPS and had a saturn logo by it so I went and looked this SPS company up and to my surprise I found it is a saturn performance website where you can easily spend $10,000 on saturn upgrades but I would highly doubt someone in there right mind would spend that on a hornet car because the 75 of Warren has the same engine as the 17 &71 car and ive worked on that car also and that engine is bone stock and it runs up front also. Here is the website for all you saturn racers who REALLY wanna cheat http://www.spswebpage.com/

hahaha 6 grand in one car? are you serious? i know for a fact they dont have that much stuck in them cars and yea one car was roled and the other was nearly totaled. Robbie is really serious about moving into a modified next year. Yes he does win a lot but hes just out there to get the feel for racing. You can't expect someone just to move up because they win all the time. But ya like i said he is planning on moving into hornets next year. Yes they do have money but those cars are not what you guys say they are. Yes, they do look good but do you believe that they were spraypainted? it doesnt take much to get your car to look good. I dont want to start an arguement over all this im just stating some facts. And about Hemanns, I heard they had the engines rebuilt, and that there was over 3,000 just in their engines! Those guys also own saturn warhouses. You just have to have the right resources. The right resources can get you far! I checked that site out and yes you could easily blow 10,000 but i dont think anyone would spend that much money on a hornet. thats taking things a little to serious.

hey,
13,000 dollars in a hornet is like impossible really... even if you have naus and everything its pretty much impossible even if you put a massager in your racing seat its impossible, and i think that eilers boy is moving up b/c word is that hes hotlapping KING KONG (randy korte) latemodel. I dont think he is getting a latemodel a modify i think.

Interesting thread, numerous intelligent comments, and hats off to Aaron Wood, who I had previously determined was nothing more than some smack talking kid. You are actually quite well spoken, and have a good grip on the facts of racing in the 4 cylinder class.

I do have one question, though. What makes any of you think that racing in any division is any different than racing hornets? Move up to bombers, and you get bomber sized bills. You get some guys who spend $500 freshening up their motor, running say, 882 heads with no valve jobs, stock cams, no balancing, no zero decking, and then say, another guy who gets a three angled valve job on 441's, zero decks, balances his rotating assembly, gets a 313 intake, dynos his motor til its jetted to the max, and maybe even does some "illegal" trick stuff that isnt readily checkable without tearing the motor down. On top of that he runs turbo blue at $5+ a gallon, burning 5-8 gallons a night. See what I am driving at? In every division, there are haves and have nots, and rule enforcement is no better in the bombers, modifieds, or LM's than it is in the hornets. Ok, maybe there is more tech, but then again, there is a whole lot more stuff to tweak, more ways to spend cash to go faster, not less. So, if anything, the situation gets more complicated and less fair the higher you go, not more equal. Regardless of how many rules there are, there are still haves, and have nots in any division. The hornet class is a great learning curve, in more ways than one. Everything you encounter in that class you will encounter in every division you race in.

I see your point t.nie. Im still not sayin any hornet drivers do cheat but I think that whenever you have a class that is supposed to be stock there are going to be more cheaters, as in your modifieds and late models if everyone sticks to the rules then everyone races about the same. I mean no one ever says hey Korte is cheating or Moyer or Dixon but in the hornet class as soon as Eilers wins then everyone accuses them of cheating.

kloguefan had it right.I wish I could find a ford probe. It is the best way to go in the hornet class if you are spending hornet money. Bad thing is who gets the cars? The guys working the yards!
