Highland pill draw for 2004.

I can see the only thing I have succeeded in doing is inadvertently insulting several people. This was never my intention and I apologize to any persons who feel I have attacked there integrity. Again, this was not my intention at all! However let me be perfectly clear about several things that have unfortunately been misinterpreted. First off I will say that I did not call out any single individual in my previous posts. This includes any track employee, track official, driver, or fan at Highland Speedway. If I had a problem with a specific individual at the track, I would approach them face to face just as I have done in the past (i.e. promoter, official, track employee, driver, or fan). Please read this with an open mind:

Most of us know all too well that when it comes to complaining, a single voice is rarely acknowledged. One of the previous posts challenges me to stand up at a rules or driver meeting and air my complaint? I thought, as I have discussed this issue with several other drivers, that I would offer both my opinion and my suggestion and then see who responded on this board. If the general consensus is that the current system need not be improved upon, then I'm not going to bother opening my mouth at a rules meeting and not have the support of my fellow competitors. My complaint was not a selfish attempt at personal gain, but one that benefits the people who put on the show:the drivers and their crews. I am not throwing out wild, far-fetched conspiracy theories about plotting and scheming in the pit shack. I am simply saying that in my opinion the current system is not acceptable and there is good reason why. I have personally gone to draw my pill (paper matchbook?) with grease on my hands and done so unintentionally I might add. I drew a high number that nobody would want. I can promise you this, I made sure that the matchbook I drew each week after that was free of grease or any other markings. Had I been lucky enough on that night to draw a low number and get grease on that matchbook? Let's just say I would have been on the pole an awful lot after that. I am not trying to personally offend anyone. I will repeat myself and everyone who reads this post can take it for what it's worth and then move on. I simply think that there is too much effort, money, time, and emotion involved in this sport to leave the lineup in the hands of an outdated system. Thank you and good luck to all next season.

So, basically, what your saying is that you figured out a way to cheat at the draw, and since you know how to cheat the draw and did so every week, you assume that all of the racers at the track were as unscrupulous as you and cheated too? Funny that, the guys who didnt cheat arent complaining, got low and high numbers and just went racing, but you, now freely admitting that you were cheating, complain because it didnt work in your favor.

So, exactly what is the problem? The system, or people like you who are trying to figure out ways to cheat?

You can twist perception and manipulate my words all day, I really don't care. The reality of the situation does not budge regardless of how much you try and make me look as the villian. I did not "cheat" last year. You cannot honestly say that if you knew of a greasy matchbook that had a high # in it that you wouldn't try to avoid it each week after that. If you say you wouldn't you are lying. I have brought a flaw in the system to your attention and you have chosen instead to look for flaws in me. Continue as you wish, I am done wasting my time.

Hey t.nie why dont you get off his case what is your problem? He was just trying to see if anyone else would like to change the pill draw because obiviously it is easy to cheat(and no he didnt cheat because he started in the back every week). This wasnt posted for you to attack every word he put on here!

OK, enough is enough from all :)

Thanks to those that gave votes of confidence! We don't cheat, although some people do disagree with calls and decisions that are made from time to time. However, some of the accusations that were made in prior posts indicated "shady deals" etc. which are indeed accusations.

These things need to be addressed when they happen AT THE TRACK instead of on the message board, as things get blown out of proportion and accusations made and then posts like this happen.

One thing I do want to point out is that just because you draw a higher number doesn't necessarily mean you will start in the back of a heat ... please remember that the number of cars in attendance and the number of heats determines where a car will start in the heat event.

If you feel strongly this is an issue (as obviously Intercepter-2W initially did), please feel free to discuss at the rules meeting on December 7th --- most tracks around go through similar complaints with their draw and it's impossible to keep everyone happy.

Are we perfect? No.
Do we cheat? No.
Is there a better solution? Possibly

End of story ... have a good day.

(1) Guaranteed if you complain AT THE TRACK, you will be told to LOAD UP YOUR $HIT (has happened to a lot of drivers this year at BOTH Brownstown and Highland) or amasingly "questionable calls" will be AGAINST you.

(2) How can you say a HIGHER number does not mean you will start in the back (unless you are a LM and qualify)? It is almost a GUARANTEE if you pull 50-75 you WILL start at the back of a heat (Third row or worse).

As I said earlier ... END OF STORY; however if you feel the need to pick apart my post and modify it to suit yourself go ahead!

In reference to your post:

1) There is a difference between discussing and complaining and those that respect that fact go farther than those that don't. It's all in how you present your case.

2) My post indicated that a high number DOES NOT NECESSARILY mean you will start at the rear, I did not say that if you drew the highest number you'd start at the rear ... come on, use a little common sense OK? I was merely pointing out that higher numbers aren't often that bad.

I'm tired of discussing this issue - people will think/say what they want to regardless of what the official stance is.

And, unlike some of the rest that feel the need to complain "anonomously" I post my name when discussing issues related to the track ...
