I-55 Raceway 2009 Preliminary Special Events Schedule

You guys that are blasting the track for having a $20,000 two day sprint car show must be new to the area. This is nothing new to the guys at I-55, they used to do two day WoO shows...doesn't anyone remember the U.S. Dirt Nationals?? It is only one more day of WoO sprints than it has been anyway, it isn't like they are wiping out the entire year just for this one extra day. I guess you guys also don't realize how deep sprint car blood is embedded into Kenny and Ray.;) Happy whining!:)

people were begging for a multi day show and then cried about prices for everything. now we're going to have at least two. can't wait to see all the tears flowing this year. i can't understand why some people think this is "latemodel country." there are lots of tracks within a couple hours drive that feature sprints. and as someone posted in another thread awahile back, i-55 packs in the stands for woo sprints. why wouldn't they have a big two day show for us? thanks i-55 for the a+ effort. :)

It's ok guys With all the "Big Shows" coming to the track this is sure to be a great season. Like someone posted last year start saving your pennys and you will not need to miss some of the best racing around. We thank you 2 I55 Great job

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

With all due respect the excuse to not have transponders because of money is an utter and complete copout . We are talking about the self proclaimed best dirt track in the Midwest .With consistent car counts and attendance I55 owes it the teams investing tons of time and money compared to the possible return to give them the most fare and unbiased results possible . Mistakes are made on the outcome of almost every feature race intentional or not it should not happen

i think with 1/3 of the season rained out that the races that did get run i-55 may have broke even. i can see them not having $ for transponders. it will happen eventually though. and people will complain then also.:)

Belle-Clair runs a 100 laps Late Model race each year WITHOUT transponders
Hats off to those gals who keep track of that race

Amen to that! I remember a 100 lap Fair Race at Belleville a few years back that saw something like 15 or 16 starters finish the race. Just imagine trying to keep track of which drivers are on which lap in that scenario.

Ya' know there was a day when there was no such thing hardly as a special show around here. Just local racing every week. Which for me is just fine. But geez, have we become that spoiled that what a track does is never good enough? Some of these traveling series shows take large sums of money just to get a date(sanction), so its easy to spend the tracks money and stick their neck out for them. Just relax, its their dime they can do what they want. If they do it and you like it, great, if not, go to the track that has what you want! I don't think its required that any track has some big late model or sprint show.

Just a fact that no matter what any track does, it won't be enough for some!

But, I do agree, if any class deserves more specials, its the modifieds.

I am so tired of this. Every year and every post about sprints and late models this happens. We are all dirt track fans first. Let us not forget this. We all like to go to Pevely, Bellville, Tri-city and highland to watch our favorite drivers and the occasional touring series drop by too race our local heroes. This is not sprint or late model country. This is DIRT TRACK country. No one is getting screwed here. We are getting great shows at our tracks for fans of both divisions. If anyone is getting screwed here it is people like Ray and Sue Marler. They see what is said on here, and when they see you people complaining, they wonder what they can do right. Can we all please stop this. Sprint car and Late model racing are the best forms of racing this world has. Let's not ruin it for each other.

Because of all the rain I-55 had received this year the rain water worked its way into the conduit and shorted out the loop for the transponders.Once this was repaired the transponders worked

I personally love to see the WoO and other sprints come to I-55. They flat out fly at this place ! Farmington push trucks ROCK when they come to town to help! Not sure why the poor bashing of the Sprints my God have you seen how many people pack those stands for these guys ? I for one am glad to see a 2 day show for these guys! Great opp to see some Great Sprint Racing! Why are we complaining whenever there is a special announced?

I think this is great! I went to I-55 for the april WoO show, the season finale points race, and the round up....and I have to say I cannot wait to come back and watch some more great racing in 09'.....the only thing this track doesn't have is USAC non-wing sprints.....in fact no track around has them:confused: I wonder why this is?? I know that I-55 did have a POWRi show with the midgets and Tri-City had the Gold Crown Nationals...but there have been no USAC sprint races around here....there is the Midwest Sprint Series around southern indiana....just thinking outloud I guess....looks like this next year at I-55 will be awesome!!! When I have the money to get into dirt cars....this WILL be my Sat. night venue of choice!

:D She live's :D Hay Dirtgril long time no see, nice to hear from you again, hope you had a great Christmas and new year. see ya soon. Take care :D

I have said it many times, I-55 needs the WoO sprints. It's a huge night for them. No seats are empty for those shows. No other night has even come close except the M&M's show. I could do without them, but I don't gripe anymore, I just go elsewhere. Now if they took off the wings for $20,000 I would be there. I like em nonwinged.
