I-55 Saturday Night/Troy Medley #62

Top Notch driver? I do have to say I've never seen Medley act a fool like that before, however, the 7 car has only been out on the track a handful of times. He's new and does a decent job. He doesn't spin and I watched that whole heat race and he never got into Medley one time. He did get into Naeger but it didn't look intentional. It looked like the 7 was having a tough time with the car like it was pushing or something. Medley drove up his azz at least 3 times that I saw. Then Medley thought he was going to bump the 7 up in the wall to get him out of his way and being a moron got himself tangled up and took them both out! That was the most dangerous spot you could wreck someone!! Then to top it off Medley (who caused the whole thing) is standing on top of his car with his scrawny self acting like a cave man going nuts....all the while Allied watches. Then he gets in the 7s car with him screaming some more. Then the driver of the 7 car gets out and Medley screams at him some more. Good ole Allied, just standing by not doing a thing! There have been MANY drivers kicked out and suspended for WAY less than that crap, but they let Medley run the feature?! Really? If I were #7 I would be taking my car to MONTGOMERY COUNTY for future races (if they race your class). The payout is way better from what I hear and I55 has already lost several drivers to the track. Show them you don't have to spend your money at their track if they aren't willing to remedy situations like that. Complete BS!
allied is far from consistent in cases like this where was the officials?

I wasnt tryin to stir the pot......just thought it was weird you assumed the poster was a woman. I take my kids......alone to the races.....so be it. We have had people post under different nics(one who started this is their first post on here) Ill admit....i dont agree with what happened and what happened afterwards. Sure made alot of kids hear things they shouldnt have and seen a man do things he shouldnt have either. For the like of me.....i still dont know why he crammed him. 7 car is fairly new and did seem to be driving pretty clean as far as i saw. I have gotten mad at people driving into me........hard to get around but i would never stuff someone. Thats how people get hurt and peoples stuff get torn up. Better to take it up in the pits in a decent non heated conversation. Always worked well with me and heck..when i was new i had comments made to me as well and i learned from them as well too. Not dogging Medley...i just think whatever his issue was should have been handled in a totally different avenue.

I think most of you are missing the point. driving and track conditions are one thing, but the way this guy acted afterwards and for the officials to do NOTHING is what the problem is. Yes every track has their GOLDEN BOY but sometimes management needs to put him in check, it will be hard to discipline someone else next week when you let this slide.

I agree as well. whatever their deal was...didnt need to unfold in that way and sure was sad to see what happened afterwards. Remember....their are kids in the stands learning and watching.

Once I seen this was your 1st post and you started b itchen about a driver I quit reading. You have no credibility with me.

i wasnt at pevely, only been there once all year and it rained out. I didnt "hear" what happened. i DO know that i raced sportmans from 2002 until 2011 and out of everybody i raced at belleville, highland, pevely, granite city, farmington, fayette county, godfrey, etc, TROY MEDLEY is one of about 3 guys in the WHOLE AREA i have respect for and that i trusted to race against. seriously. OUT OF ANYBODY. thats about all i have to say about what happened down there.

This is gonna anger some... and I will probably repeat myself... but I don't care...

Troy Medley is a class act. He is also human. Is he not allowed to get mad? Is he not allowed to make a mistake and over react?

What about baseball when the pitcher hits the batter with a pitch and the benches clear? What about hockey? What about any other human interaction that occurs?

First off... this post was started by a first-time poster and he/she did not sign their name. Second, they have not responded to any of the three pages of replies. Therfore, I believe it is just someone stirring the pot and the rest of you fools are buying into it... most of you anonymously as well.

My beef is not what Troy Medley did... because I understand that it was totally out of character for him. My beef is not what the Officials did or did not do... as far as I am concerned... it never got to the point that the Official's needed to do anything. In fact, once the driver of the 7 car got out of his car... he calmly walked around medley's car... under the tow boom... and continued to discuss things with Medley. I did not see either one of them elevate it to a level in which the official's would have needed to engage. This is not the case with various pit crew members in which the Officials DID keep seperated and had to actually "keep the peace" between at least two.

My beef is with the almighty person that started this post.

First off... it is a race track. It is YOUR job to parent your kids. It is not society's responsibility to teach them right or wrong. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If you are out somewhere, and something occurs that you don't think your kids should see or hear... it is your duty to remove them from the situation... or explain to them what they saw or heard was not appropriate behavior. Teach them what is right or wrong based off what is happening in the world around them. But you did not do that apparently because you didn't want to get off your ***** and miss what was going on either.

Shame on Major League Baseball and the TV networks for not doing something everytime the benches clear when a pitcher nails a batter. Shame on the NHL and the networks for not doing anything to protect your kids from seeing an occasional fight.

Sporting events... and especially auto racing... is sometimes not the best atmosphere for little kids. That is a fact. Kids see all kinds of beer drinking, hollaring and occasional fights or bad behavior in the pits. That is the risk you take when you go to the track. You can't shield the kids from everything, or else they are not going to know how to react when they grow up (I believe Kurt and Kyle Busch must have had over protective parents as well... because them boys sure don't know how to act). Instead... teach them that THAT behavior is wrong and mold them into better adults than what they may have seen.

The race track is not Sesame Street. They are going to see some stuff that in a PERFECT WORLD, they shouldn't see... It is YOUR job to teach them the difference... not the Official's.

I watched the whole event unfold with Medley and Naeger trying to get passed the 7 car and the car that he was racing and the events that unfolded. I have no idea exactly what Medley was so upset about, but he let his emotions get to him and he did something stupid. We are all guilty of this at some point in our lives. Troy has probably kept his temper in-check in alot more obvious situations where one would EXPECT him to come unglued... yet he didn't. For some reason, it got the best of him last Saturday.

Troy Medley has a good reputation and is not known for the behavior he displayed Saturday night. THAT is why the Official's gave him some leeway... because they know he is not a hot head! He also never elevated the situation to a point where anything needed to be done. Sure... he put his head in the other guys car... possibly because the other guy had his helmet on and Medley was making sure the guy could hear him. The 7 guy could have easily whailed off some punches while Troy was in this position. No physical agression was shown... it was verbal at that point as well. The majority of the Official's were trying to control the pit crew guys.

Can you imagine... next time something like this happens... the track announcer turns on the CD player (same one that plays National Anthem)... and just starts blaring the theme song from Barney... or... you are in the middle of watching the Cards vs the Cubs... Berkman gets hit by a pitch... as the benches clear... they immediately switch to an episode of Sesame Street and you have to count numbers with Big Bird!

Rediculous to think that any track or Official is charged with having to raise your kids for you...

Track was junk, total P.O.S.

What track was you at? At I55 they had one of the best Mod features this year. Also Don you didnt drive on the track so how can you say it was junk? Talk to Ed Dixon, Ron McQuerry, ect and ask the drivers if it was junk. They will tell you it had good bite.

Was there any punches thrown? If not then how could you suspend someone? You can't suspend someone for yelling or cussing, if you did that there wouldn't be any cars left. I grew up at the racetracks and saw alot of fights it happens. I have taken my son in the pits at I-55 since he was seven years old and when things got heated I told him to never repeat words he hears. He is. 14 now and a good kid so the races didn't give a bad influence on him. So if cussing and bad behavior happens explain to your kids not to repeat it and walk away from the conflict or if that doesn't work for you then don't go to the races. Remember it is a racetrack not church.

My name is on my posts. I just replied to what i saw. Was it wrong??Could be. I dont know Troy personally so i cannot say if he is a normally standup guy. Maybe the wreck was just that....a wreck. I will say this....guy i work with who doesnt even come here asked me today if i seen what happened and i said yes...what did you see. His play by play was the same as mine. but maybe we are both wrong and if so.......im open minded enough to say that......i could be wrong and just let them deal with it.
