Is Belleville Great or what??

No its not its a terrible post,

You speak of being in the drivers seat and free to race at tracks where you desire, while you enjoy that benefit now that kind of freedom is a fairly recent thing and what you advocate in your post will in the end rob you of that freedom.

Thanks for your thoughts, and your post holds no accuracy.

How is it that he is trying to be fair to each track, and stating that EVERYONE is sick and tired of hearing about the bs that is being said about the two tracks going to rob him of racing where he wants to race at? That makes no sense. Also, how is racing where he wants to on the weekend a fairly recent thing? He has, and always will race where he wants, along with everyone else out there! You are never bound to one race track.

These posts are dense and if I were the moderator, I would delete them before they started.

It is a shame that someone tried to compliment a race track, and it gets turned into something like this. Nice try Ohsomthin - but apparantely people are not mature enough to handle the thought of a race track getting approval for something that they did right. People are clearly out there to stir the pot. That isnt what this board is for. Try being positive about things once in a while and it might get you somewhere in life.

racefantoo and dirthound are about to get axed if they don't stop the ridiculous posts...

News flash for Tom and Amy:

Your comments about racing wherever you want and not being bound to any race track only shows that you must be fairly new to the sport, because it was not to many years ago that a racer, in this area at least, was indeed bound to a race track.

You only enjoy the freedom to go to other tracks now because of UMP, UMP took the shackels off the racer, before that each track set thier own rules in an effort to ensure thier own weekly car counts, so a racer had to decied where they wanted to race and that was pretty much it.

Lakehill had their rules, Allied had theirs and SARA and Tri-City, ETC.

If you like things the way they are now then you need to support UMP, but if you want to go back in time then support non UMP tracks.

What?

Bound to one track? How was it, then, that drivers (as far back as I can remember, and that's a long, long way,) used to go all over the state every night they could sneak a race in?

We used to go up to little springfiled, macon, jacksonville, kankakee, danville, pevely, belle-clair, tri-city...anywhere there was a show, and sure enough, many, many of the same drivers showed up for those events.

If anything, it's harder now ($$$$, set-up) for a driver to expand out to other tracks in the area than it was before.

Tri-City and Belle-Claire both had great nights this weekend, and that success can continue if people stop trying to make one out to be better than the other!

Sit back and have some fun!

Tom races a sportsman, only the past two years have they been UMP. The rules in this area cause him to be able to run a few different tracks. UMP has done nothing to help that other than put up a national points fund. UMP does not make a track, the promoter, payout, and the track itself does. There are tracks succeeding all throughout the US without a sanction. Both tracks as Friday shown, will be successful this year and for a long time. Tri city will get about 100+(5 classes) and Belleville will get 80+(4 classes). I think both tracks would take that any day.

Tommy has raced for almost 10 years, not too new to the sport, not to mention I have been at the race track since I was a baby. We have always raced where we wanted. Thanks for the news flash though.

We do support UMP tracks. We race them 2 nights per week.

Never have we been bound to one race track though. While running at Belleville & Pevely we have also raced @ Fredricktown, MCS, St. Charles (while they were open), Highland, Brownstown, Tri-City, etc. May not have been competitive at all of them, but we sure went to them.

Sean 2 ,

Do you process a large enough vocabulary to put more than two word together.
I don't think it's that, I think he's sweet on you. He watches for each time you post so he can post right after you. I think it might be a good thing if he were a woman following you that close, but a man thats pretty creepy.

I have raced at both tracks in the pure/street stock class and they both are a blast to race at. The show seems to flow along quicker @ Bellville. Just to bad they both race Fridays and for a guy not out for points I just have to figure out where the car works the best at, by the way Tom has helped alot of drivers out including myself and been around awhile.

THE LATE MODELS AND MODIFIEDS ARE THE ONLY CLASSES AROUND HERE THAT UMP HAS COMMON RULES FOR. THE SPORTSMAN, STREETSTOCKS, PURESTOCKS AND 4 CYLS ARE UNDER INDIVIDUAL TRACK RULES.

This post got me thinking that going back to the way things were might not be such a bad idea. Once a racer could go anywhere and race, it was good for him, but bad for the fans and tracks. Racers became nomads, fans of Joe Racer who were not necessarily race fans quit going to the track when their "hometown hero" started travelling to other places, and spectator counts dropped. That led to promoters adding classes to increase pit pass revenues, shows started dragging on, and more non-hardcore fans quit coming to the races. What we have left is half-full grandstands, and tracks going out of business. So looking at the big picture, is that really a good thing for the sport?

Now I'm not naive enough to think we will ever be able to go back to the old days, but I do have some thoughts on how to best capture what the 2007 racing climate has to offer. Click here if you would like to read on: http://www.dirttrackinsider.com/viewtopic.php?t=1660

Looking back a few years, this thread may be relavent once again too: http://www.stlracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59647

I have been to six different tracks this year, a couple of the multiple times, the only time I saw a half full grandstand was at PIR when it was 30 degrees outside. Other than that night I have seen great crowds & great car counts as well. I think our local racing is actually doing pretty good right now.
