Jacksonville getting new promoter for 2007

It was announced at Spoon River Speedway tonight, that Jacksonville Raceway will have Bill West as the new promoter in 2007.

No weekly sprint cars

He is switching to late models

Got my information from talking to Butch Wood the current promotor friday night.

no kiddin', wow...

the sprint cars had run there for a long time...
Wonder what this means for the sprint cars up that way.

1 good thing is another central Illinois track will not close. I do feel sorry for all the sprint car guys that have raced there for a long time. there is no where in central illinois for a sprint car driver to race on a weekend now. I am not sure how it will work out if Bill West promotes Late models like the rumors have said, due to farmer city running, but then again Jackonsville does have a good draw of Modifieds on friday. All I can say is good luck to the new promoter and hope you have much success.

I heard several months ago that the current promoters were calling it quits after this season. I'm glad another promoter has been found. I'd hate to see another track close.
According to MapQuest J-ville and Farmer City are over 115 miles apart. Thats close enough that Farmer City could be impacted somewhat by J-ville picking up the LM, but not so close that it will make a huge difference.

This is a good thing Bill West raced at Macon I belive,an not sure but doint he own the 3L car? I do know he has the racers intrest at heart. an Pops I hope MACON makes it,Mabe Sarge will take it back an make it what is yoused to be.I miss the rain outs run on Sunday, an staying at the motel with vibrating beds, heck whats a quarter. :)

sprint car racing in illinois and missouri is very limited and to lose another track ****s, but a track must have more then 20 cars a night show up in order to support sprint car racing.....granted you go to indiana non-wing sprints they have 30+ cars show up a night....just depends on where you are at and in illinois and missouri seems like the modifieds and late models have taken over.....person has to do what they have to do in order to support the surroindings....dont take me wrong i love sprints but same time you have to see the other side of the coin  plus the west family is very active in the racing community...if you knew the west family you would agree with me

I would guess that it means that they'll have to think about taking off the wings and heading to Indiana to run.

I just wonder how many LMs J-ville will get with Tri City and Farmer City running on Fridays. And aren't most of the LMs in West Central Illinois and South Eastern Iowa more of the IMCA spec engine rule variety?

I also wonder what they'll run for support classes. Mods would be the obvious choice for one support class. But what about the third class? Jacksonville treated the micros like crap so they could have plausible deniabillity when they dropped them this season. But how many pony stocks (hornets) did they get weekly? I know they barely had a dozen this past Friday.

Sprint thank you for the reply I respect your opion But I gota ask $ for $ is open Wheel racing worth the pay out? With smaller purses? Ive never been a open wheel fan till last years chile bowl.An what a show!!! I think sprint cars are cost heavy. (I think) never been involved,

Didn't J-ville run mods and street stocks?

JMO but I don't think that track will survive without Sprint Cars. The fans of jville have been coming to watch Sprints for years. Whenever they don't have Sprints there (even though the mods put on a good show) the fan count just isn't there. A lot of big name drivers in the world have come through the gates here and I hate to see no Sprints next year
