Klein and Basler
When they both had their coupes both ran 427 Ford sideoilers
with a 3 speed non synchronized trans out of a 39 Ford truck

When Gervase Basler retired his coupe he still ran a 427 side oiler
but with a 3 speed out of a 70's model truck

Donnie Klein ran 427 fords for a long time then went to the 460 based
engine after which he went to an engine combo based on the
351 series small block Ford

Man was it ever fun to be a kid in racing back in the 70's
These two guys kept a bunch of kids out of trouble back in the 70's
and 80's

the photo of balsers blue coupe is one on don kleins old ones that was the first coupe that he built with a homemade frame
 
Man, these pics bring back some great memories of my father and I going to Belle-Clair every Friday night when I was growing up.

Does anyone have any pics of Ray Eby's coupes they could post?

i have the pic of rays car being towed into the pits at belleville in the early 70s.the pipes coming out of the hood
