MCS Bountys!!!

I really have to agree with Brandon Paul on this thread. Simply offering up your opinion of somebody else's opinion doesnt really move the discussion forward. I happen to agree that trying to persuade the IMCA spec motor racers to run for a night at MCS does sound like an idea worth considering. I have no clue where else or how else they might get the count up, really. the bounty is great, but it wont pull guys away from their regular sat night points venue this early in the season when there are track championships at stake. Maybe come July, when some of the top tens realise the track title is out of their reach it might change, but not until then I dont think.

I also think he is right on when he says that beating a field of 7 for the maximum feature points awarded by UMP is not really fair to drivers at other tracks who have to beat fields of 18-24 to get the same reward. That has been an issue with the UMP sanction for some time now, yet UMP shows little interest in addressing the issue. I wonder why?

*And sean? This is all your fault. When I saw your name on this thread, I just HAD to jump in! lol ;) :D *

Well Brandon, Mcs Ought To Be The Place For You. They Don't Have To Run Any Of Those Useless Semis With That Kinda Car Count.

As Far As Beating A Field Of 7 And Getting The Same Points As Beating 18-24??? Everyone Has The Option Of Going And Racing There Also. Trust Me, There Are A Lot Of Guys High Up In The Ump Points, Simply Because Of Where They Choose To Race!!!!

IMCA SPEC CARS? THEY COULD PROBABLY SWITCH THE LATE MODELS TO THEM RULES COMPLETELY AND GET 7 CARS. COULDN'T IMAGINE IT BEING ANY LESS????

Here's another possible idea for MCS, and this one sort of comes from the "real" world: The "No Track Left Behind" plan--dubya, eat your heart out :) When a public school district has abysmal test scores, attendence, etc. the government puts them on probation and perhaps steps in with funding. UMP could place their two or three worst tracks in terms of car count on "probation" the next season and provide a certain amount of money to try to improve car count the next season--if counts do not improve, bye bye sanction. That's my "stratiegery" :) Maybe if we keep throwing ideas at the wall, something will stick....

One more thought concerning MCS: Their website says that if they have fewer than 10 cars, the winner only gets $600--I understand cutting the purse if the count is small, but I always thought UMP had a minimum of $700 to win--and that was the number several years ago. SO if they have fewer than 10 cars tonight, they would be paying the minimum ONLY if somebody other than Collins wins. HMMM...
