MCS News

???? never heard of him,is he a racer, car owner a guy with a lot of money to invest,i have known mel for nearl 40 years, hurts me to see this happen..

yes fireball he' a racer of the modfied variety,is he part of the landscaping business in offallon mo near 40 and N

well i think del and kevin gundaker were at the table ready to sign papers at the end of last year? and he turned him down

I don't know Craig other than from his name in the results. But being a good guy ain't gonna do nothing for him out there. It's gonna take one thing to make that track successful and that's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
He might have it for all I know, but the payouts are gonna have to be gauranteed and he will have to stick with it for a while. He won't have a carcount till he can show the racers that he will not cut pay like Mel did. I hope if he buys it that he will be successful. I really liked that track and it was a blast to race on.

I think that track would make a perfect sunday night track for gundaker though. He's got the money, resources, and good carcounts at his two other tracks. Good luck whoever will take it over. Just keep it a racetrack.

Sorry to hear about MCS. I was always impressed with the sweat equity Mel and the family put into the place.

A few weeks ago I saw that the track was listed with a broker for $1.3 mil and then reduced to $1.1 mil.

Not sure what it's listed at today but that's still a lot of money for a racetrack in this economy.

Good luck to the new owner if and when it happens.

I would like to see the super lates run MCS again. Maybe whoever buys it, they'll bring them back.

I would like to see what the actual price for this place is because at 1.1 mil del would be alot better to sell and collect his money since there is only a 300,000 note on the place 800,000 in dels pocket every one knows he would jump on that he does not care about the racers or the fans just his moey........I do know for a fact a 450,000 was made for the land and track and it was turned down......and keep in mind you will need a million the first month to cover payouts equipment staff and tractors to prepare the track not just a water truck.....

I think everyone knows that Del was just worried about the money. I think the car counts are down is because he took away the Super Late Models. Face it, they are what everyone goes to see. I don't think there needs to be alot of improvement done to the facility itself. They need lights in the pit area, and a sound system with speakers in the pit area so the racers and crews can hear what is going on. The track itself is a cool track. It just needs an owner/promoter that cares and gives it the TLC like Kevin and crew give Tri City and Ray and crew give Pevely. It wouold be a gold mine if they had the right owner/operator. JMO.

The demise of the track was not the leaving of the Super Late Models. I loved them and it did have an impact on car counts to a degree, but the real problem was the that drivers were being told not to come back. Get treated like crap and word travels fast. These were not drivers that were idiots always tearing other guys up either. The other thing is that when you tell someone that the purse is this much, then pay that much. Otherwise if you are going to cut the purse you had at least make it known at the drivers meeting and offer refunds if guys don't want to race for the reduced purse. Don't wait until after the race to let folks know. I know there is not money in racing and even on good nights spent more than I made, but what you do win sure helps to keep you running especially later in the year.

Just to make it clear this is my opinion from what I saw observing because I have not even raced this year due to injury. I really hate to see the track close, but when the management does not see the balance of drivers, cars, and fans in the stands to make the track a success and not just the $$$ that they think they can make by either raising pit passes and doing other things to send the cars elsewhere, this will happen.

This is a great facility, and I know Mel tried. Not everyone agreed with him all the time, but overall when the track was under his control he did his best and the cars and fans were there for the most part. Unfortunately for whatever reason his dad took the power and control and Mel was nothing more than a pawn. He was just doing what he was told the last couple of years and I know that he did not like all of what he had to do at times. I feel for him because he is definately gonna get the short end of the stick due to someones greed.

I talked to Mel today and he said the rumors about someone buying it at the moment isnt true. He was upset about the demise of the track and said it wouldnt be open the rest of the season no matter what, thats just what I was told. I loved going to MCS to watch races and the closing has little to do with super late models. People like to be treated with respect, and that was never the case at MCS. For employees, drivers, or fans.

The only problem I had with that track is their biggest class was B mods. That means lots of cautions and the officials dont reline the cars the quickest. There was a few times I wanted to leave during some of those features because they had 60 caution laps. I-55 and Tri City stop the cars and reline so they can take off again in a timely fashion. Location doesnt help either. Its 2 hours from my house by I-55. Their are alot of drivers in Jefferson co.

Upset at what? doesn't he own it at least in part? Isn't it his dad Del? Isn't he the one who made bad calls, told others not to return for stupid reasons, treated others like crap, Are you saying he couldn't do anything but sit back and watch his dad destroy a great thing?

Seriously? He couldn't do anything?

They got exactly what was coming....

i hate to see it happen but they did have it coming.I have seen alot of stuff happen their in my two years of racing the track.there was alot of respect not shown to poeple that it should have been shown to.I think we can all agree that del is and was 70% of the problem and the only way for mel to take control of that is to buy the place free and clear by hiself and that is not gonna happen.Mell kinnaird is a regular working joe like the rest of us.

I'd be interested in the track, but as long as del is involved that is not going to happen.id even be interested in leasing the track but not as long as del is involved,or until he comes back down to earth cause their is no way it is worth what he is asking and it will rot beffore anyone pays that for it,he must have fell and hit his head! We can only Hope the Rumor of Craig Roden Buying the place is true, cause he'd more then be able to handle the task.I know craig well and you dont get a better guy!

with that said.i loved MCS.Not once did i ever get treated without respect and when i was wronged mel more then made it right, without del knowing of coarse..Honestly as of right now the gundakers more then got their stuff together.been to both tracks this year and dont have a bad word to say about either one.if a few other missouri tracks dont get their chit together, they are gonna see the same demise as MCS has.
