Melvin - Pierce drama continues at highland

I grew up watching Bob Pierce when he first started back in the 70's with my father in Central, IL. he was a class act. Now Bobby on the other hand is a hell of a driver and no one can take that from him, except his dad at any given minute he can pull the rug out from under him and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! From what I have always understood about the rules the driver is responsible for himself AND his Crew. But then again this is U.M.P. so I guess never mind.
All I am saying is if I have a problem with another driver I WILL GO SAY SOMETHING not send my sister or mom. Respect is earned not given.

So kreke13 your saying the slider on babb was dirty Shannon said on dirt on dirt it was a gd move and he was ok with it and he had done it several times in his career just saying I like Shannon one of the best in the business and one of the nicest guys in the sport but just repeating what he said!!!!

Make no mistake about it Shannon was not very happy with that slider yes he understands sometimes that's what you have to do especially on a track that small but, listen to the interview again and he says a couple of times he does not like to get his s--t tore up and does not like to work on it.

00k better go re watch that interview. A lot of sarcasm in his voice and Shannon just not bad mouthing anyone like the class act he is. He also made other comments that got his point across if you listen

You must have listen to the same interview that I listened to

Bob Jr seems to be very good and getting better. Seems to be humble. But the family attack thing is a real turn off. Saw his dad get in somebody's window after a Lincoln crate heat and his sister do the same at FALS. Like desperation. I hope he gets a call from a decent truck team soon and gets out on his own.

So he can go pull slide jobs and put on a show...besides his flip I don't recall any equipment being torn up. I recall a lot of wins though. The incident with Melvin is questionable at best.. He slid babb never made contact. Other than his family sticking up for him what can you say bad about his driving. Other than just hatin on the kid.

Second - anyone who has met and spent say 10 minutes with Rodney Melvin, knows he is not one to just drive around flipping other drivers off. That just isn't his style.
.
Back straight at a Belleville 100 lapper a few years ago when Melvin was running for UMP championships. Dixon is rooting around on the bottom following Rodney, and gives him a few nudges to try and move him up some, loosen him up a little to get by. I was standing next to the barriers looking back toward turn 2 as Rodney came off the corner and got on the gas, hiking the left front up a little with Dixon right behind him.

And then I see the fastest bird in history. A little black gloved left hand pops up out of the drivers side, middle digit sticking straight up, palm about roof height, facing forward. And as quick as it shoots up in the air, it is snatched back in the cockpit, Melvin whips past and hugs the bottom into three. Dixon went to the high side after that, trying to make it work up there.

Don't remember who won, or who was in front of who in the end that night. But I've laughed about that every time I think about it ever since. For all I know, I may have been the only person to really see it. I like Rodney, he's never been anything but polite, civil and respectful whenever I've been around him and talked to him. But in the heat of the moment, I've seen that little black bird he keeps inside his left glove get some air.

And I don't think any less of him, or any other driver who might keep one in the glove for those times when they get a little irritated, for letting it fly.

(And I'll add this, for good measure. I am pretty sure Ed Dixon, if he saw it, and he probably did, got a good chuckle over that, too.)

Even though the last year Rodney ran for points was 2005 (nearly a decade ago), I'm sure you are right. I'm sure he has used the bird many times in the past "in the heat of the moment" (like t.nie said). The keywords really are in the heat of the moment. Rodney has been a little more laid back since running for points in 2005. Yes, I am still sure he has flown the bird since then, but like the Pierce Posse said, they were 8th and 9th on the track....not really what I would qualify as being in the heat of the moment.

Get over it guy's cause a young man has came along and had several controversial Wins...the kid can flat out drive and has a very fierce crew to help him along! Melvin is a has been that prolly won't win another race in his off and on career that's seen his fair share of takin people out and tearing other people's shit up! As for Babb boo who he ain't no angel either! Seen him get in people just as well!

Who have you seen Babb get into?

I don't think anyone is saying that Bobby isn't talented, at least I wasn't. He is extremely talented and it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up surpassing what Bob accomplished in his racing career.

As for the general spraying of hate in other remarks - if you are trying to insult someone, it typically works better if you use correct punctuation, capitalization and spelling. Otherwise, people just end up confused with what you are trying to say and/or laughing at what they are trying to read.

TIP - I know this is a wild and crazy idea but, if you don't want to read about Melvin, then don't enter a thread with the title of "Melvin-Pierce drama continues at Highland".

But in that same interview saltydog didn't babb also say bobby was a young talented driver and that babb himself had done that many of times YES!!!!
