Mess Series.

Neither one care about the drivers or teams they just care about their own pockets

If Cory can afford to pay 2000 to win four nights he can afford to pay 2000 every week

Then what would he call his "special shows"?;)

I miss the days of the two day shows where you would drive down the highway and look at the motel parking lots to see which drivers were in town for the BIGGER shows. Oh well, here's to the good ol' days.:(

I just signed up today and this will be my one and only post. I am doing this for one reason and one reason only, to set the record straight. I can assure you that the added money on four races at SFCR was done solely by a sprint FAN and none of the money was added by anyone at SFCR. I repeat "the money was added by a sprint fan." So please, quit trying to make Cory look bad by saying "if he can pay $2000 on four nights, why not every night". So therefore, the extra money and the fact that it was donated by a FAN does make these races "special". Why is it so hard to believe that a true fan would do this? And as far as the top 10 drivers of Mass from 2007 looking like Farmington regulars, well sure they are. Where else in this part of the country are you going to find 410 sprints? To the statement "SFCR trying to cover the whole state," MASS only runs 2 Saturday night shows in Missouri and they are at the same track. I hardly call that trying to cover the whole state. And as far as SFCR going over the top of the MASS schedule, I do believe SFCR had their schedule out first.... Why is that an issue? Is it ok for MASS, but not SFCR? I'm glad to see the SFCR management take the high road and not get involved with the trash talk on this post. With the racing season only a month away, I'm sure they have much better things to do than to defend themselves against their "fanclub", which I'm sure will be throwing poisoned darts all year... Hope everyone takes a chill-pill and has a fun racing year. See you at the track.

We need a non wing show!

I agree... Would be nice to see a change.

Nice post. I have to agree with most of what you posted.

As another true fan, I think it is awesome that you injected a few extra $$$ into the show. What would better show the drivers where they are appreciated than the fans throwing money in too? If I had the extra $$$ to do it, I would do something similiar... I think it would be cool to throw in a bonus awarded to an anonymous finishing position...kind of like a lottery drawing. Might be someone up front that gets it, but could just as easily be the last place driver...

Mass

So this fan in the stands put up all the extra money to match the All Star purse all the way back through the field? Or does it just pay more to win to match the $2000 All Star money? Just curious how much tow money he'll be paying the Top 10 drivers, too. Any idea?
What is the mass payout. It shoulded be a secret. I really wish i could tell you all that i know about Mr. Webb but i don't see how it would help racing. The main reason without a doubt that some drivers are running mass is they feel their name will get out more by traveling to more areas.I would say this is true. But the real facts are drivers can't afford it.You get on here and brag your taking farmington cars and then follow up the ridiculis statement by we are promoting 410 racing. The drivers are going to need more than a few dollars for tow.Mass drivers say their tire bill is huge.and that was last year's schedule.Mass lost a bunch of tracks this year. They will lose more unless Guy leases the track. The crowds were terrible!!!!

non-wing

why dont we have at least a couple non wing shows a year? Jacksonville's going to non wing this year, lets follow the trend that's going on in Indiana, maybe we could get a bigger car count???
Do you know how much most non-wing shows pay to win.I wish the guys would get more.

non-wing shows dont generally pay as much as most big wing sprint car shows. not sure what USAC pays but MSCS is anywhere from like 2,500 at a normal race to 10,000 at a big race. non-wing wouldn't need as good of a motor since you dont need to push that wing around.

If a fan put up the extra money for the $2000.00 to win shows then is it going to cost more to get in on those nights? If a fan put up the money then it should be the same price as a regular show since SFCR doesn't have to put up the extra money. I am not saying it is more to get in those nights...just asking a question. The few mass races that I did go see last year I was pleased. I got to see a couple different winners and a few drivers that were not regulars at SFCR. I think that the Mass is good for drivers who want to get there names out there and get experience at other tracks. I haven't really spoke with Guy personally but I don't think drivers are racing his series because of him, they are running this series because it offers oppurtunities to race more. I will go to some Mass races and some at Farmington. I will not bad mouth either because they are making an effort to keep 410 winged sprint car racing alive. I think that is pretty crappy if Cory put those special shows on the nights that Mass is around because that is not taking the high road that is being petty.

From the latest responses to the "Specials" that are at SFCR, it sounds to me like the promoter is not in charge of his own track, this "Fan" is.

Whether or not Corey picked the dates is irrelevant. He is the one that is in charge. He is the one that can step up and say yes or no to anything that is going on at HIS track. He made the decision to allow this secret "fan" to come in and make these decisions at HIS track on those dates.

Sounds to me as a fan that there are some things going on behind the scenes that if the truth came out many other fans, owners, and drivers may become appalled with. I think there is a bigger picture here that us fans need to question.

I do think though that the season at SFCR can be and will be a great one. There is a wealth of talent here that is chomping at the bit to make their mark. Have we thought for a second that maybe not having these "heavy hitters" such as the Montgomery boys, Jerrod Hull, etc... here every night can help catapult some of the up-start guys?

I personally like seeing a guy get his first ever win. The look and excitement on their face is priceless. I can recall when Eric VanderPloeg won his first ever sprint race at Oskaloosa, Iowa. The fans in the stands booed him when he couldn't let go of the "mock" trophy to give to a kid. I was standing right there and Eric went from elated to sad in the matter of seconds. And, it was only a HEAT race.

The point I am trying to make here is that there are guys like Eric out there fighting every night for that trophy. MASS gives the local up-start guys the opportunity to race more often upfront and gain important track time and take home a few extra bucks so they can go farther with their racing careers. If they want to take a step outside of SFCR and race with the MASS on non-points nights, more power to them, but I am not going to bash them for staying home to try and better themselves for the future. Just as I am not going to bash any driver going for points with MASS for not running SFCR weekly.

Will it be a different year with soem of the heavy hitters not there weekly? You bet! Would I have liked to see SFCR work within the MASS schedule to make sure they don't overlap? NO! If they were to do that, those younger guys would miss opportunities.

I applaud this "fan" if his intent is to pump more money into the pockets of racers. What I don't applaud though is the tactic to ONLY increase the purse on shows against the MASS, that is tacky. And as the promoter, the buck stops at Corey.

Thank you race fan.I have been so encouraged by you giving money out of your pocket for racing.Iguess if you had been a mod fan mr. webb would be more understanding. As far as racers running for points with Mass,I'm afraid your going to be disappointed.Joey ran every race (i think)at farmington last year.Top 10 in points????Drivers being mentioned may run some Mass races but they are not running for points with Mass or farmington.Makes a fan wonder who will show up where each week.SPIN SPIN SPIN mr. webb!!!!i know what you say about Farmington.

If the track is so confident that they are indeed doing the right thing then why isn't there a Second Annual Summer Sprint Car Nationals on the schedule? I was told by the late Jeff Mills that this was Cory's pet project and for all of the right reasons his intensions was to make it "BIGGER" each year. What happened to that???? I'm sorry, I'm not convinced that everyone's head is in the right place on the sprint cars.

What ??
