Multiple sources say Tony Stewart ran over another driver tonight

Stewart will not face criminal charges right now after a Saturday night incident in which Stewart's car struck and killed 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. during a sprint car race at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park. In a press conference shortly after 3 p.m. ET Sunday, Ontario County (N.Y.) Sheriff Phillip C. Povero said, "At this moment there are no facts or evidence that would support a criminal charge or criminal intent." The sheriff's office is examining videos from fans who were in attendance and also is awaiting formal autopsy results.

Tony gassed the motor when approaching Kevin! Ya cant blame a driver for getting out. It happens all the time.
They were both in some way at fault. Racing gives people the right to fight one another by means of car on car contact. Even if death follows an accident. It could just be considered a racing accident rather than an anger management problem that got out of control and killed someone. Who cared if Kevin should of stayed in the car. A NASCAR driver should have more self respect than that. Even if Kevin pushed Tony around on the track. Racing is full of hoodlums these days.

Rucket have you ever driven a racecar? Here is why i am asking. First in a racecar your vision is limitd especially with the new seats and hans devices. Not to mention your head bounces quite a bit under yellows as you feel every bump. Second look how dim lit the track was. In a racecar you will actually see shadows bad and things blend in especially dark objects. Third did you see the guy who passed him in front of tony? He almost ran over him with his whole car! Fourth you steer sprint cars with throttle. If he jammed the brakes car would have slid over him. They spin out on braking. Ive heard people wonder why the speed under yellow was fast. They have too due to the motor and fuel systems! It was an accident. People need to drop the kill word and use accident and learn to not walk kn racetracks under yellow conditons. I feel bad for the kid and bad judgement on his part cost him. Ive often wondered where the line will be drawn on retaliations and they rule tri city just implimented which i thought already was a rule is a step in the right direction. Its racing. Supposed to be for fun and we need to put it back that way

Thank you. Im not a smoke fan personally. Trust me if i had any feeling he did that on purpose id say so. Tragic event. I feel for the family and friends of everyone involved. I think its only the beginning of several " changes " set to come on how things are ran during a race. Forgot to mention as well they were probably using ear pieces. Tracks talk to you under yellows and they tell you where to restart and sometimes what cars to reline behind. Drivers get pretty busy and he probably never even knew the young man was even mad at him. If anyone seen the vid smoke used the whole track and kid ran out of room going into turn 1. I dont think they even touched actually but it was close. But when you run behind someones rr going into a corner on thr high side you kind of are asking for it if your not ready for him to move up if he does. Smoke probably didnt even know the kid was up there

The question is irrelevant. Fans can see some of this childish behavior without being in a race car. But anyway, for 6 years my friend. Common sense would have been brakes not gas if Kevin was actually fully in Tony's path. The car in front of Tony also had to steer away from Kevin. Tony isn't blind. Some of this logic on here seems like the same type of logic people use voting for Obama... Its very sad.

And actually turning steering wheels on a sprint car to the left for example also puts more weight on the right rear. so when on the throttle it helps steer left. Right rear gets more grip than left rear. along with all the stagger. it helps turn the car.........or is this too high over your head. caster and camber. obviously its the opposite for steering right

Rucket why do you have to get all butt hurt over it. Racin90 made some very good points and then you have to take it personal. You can have a debate and disagree with one another but, no need to get all butt hurt over it.

Points that maybe had a very slight chance of happening. While still green. Right, pulling slide jobs or getting loose happens. Shit happens. But stomping on the gas does not just happen. Specially by a professional. They learn to see very slight details. They have to hit their marks on the track..... going slow.... not being able to see him. BS!

Never really had anything against Smoke until this. I dont have the best of attitude either. Im no rocket scientist. What i have is common sense and respect for people that believe in fighting for whats right. America may be under war here pretty soon. We all need to unite and start waking the **** up.
These are the first posts i've made on a social network in a long time. I know theres some of you out there cheering and saying amen about some of this stuff. And with that i'm out! Have a good night!

You need to go talk to actual sprint car drivers and they will all tell you you turn a sprint car fast by throttle. You cannot turn one fast while idling around a track. Its a known fact thats been out there for years before this happened. Just making a point thats well documented. You can keep thinking it was intentional but the facts tell me different.

For those of you who think that Tony had so much time and vision, have a look at the response from a crew member from the number 45 sprint... who went by right before Tony. Also, racin90, you made excellent points in your post.

I told my son Sunday that video is of only one view of what happened. So you should not speculate as to what happened until there is more info or other videos at a different angel of what happened. It is a very sad event for all parties involved. When I use to official I was almost hit by a driver when I was lining the cars up on the track. It is very easy for it to happen. To put it simple to many people form an opinion off of to little info.

Next time i'm rolling thru the pits and mad. I'll stomp on the gas with 700+ horsepower and run the next person over that gets in front me then! Blame it on lighting and saying i had to stomp on the gas to make it turn! How would you like it then ya stupid ignorant sissy. My roof line hangs down too low! I had a spec of dirt on my visor! I didnt see ya in time so i had to stomp on the gas! How would you like it then *****?! His line of vision would of seen Kevin. Kevin wasnt on right side where the wing hangs down. He was almost right in front of them.

This is just one of the worst comments I have ever read on here. If I was a competitor I would not want to be at any track you are at period. And you are right you can't fix stupid.
