So everyone knows what happened Sunday with the payback Kenseth gave to Logano. Was it intentional?Surely must have been. Should Kenseth get a steep penalty? Most would say, absolutely.
But here's the dilemma. This stuff happens all the time. Maybe not from a car a few laps down taking out a guy who could not only win the race but severely affect his playoff chances.
NASCAR said today about the race where Logano took out Kenseth: ""That was an entirely different situation," he said. "What we're not going to do is take the style of NASCAR and parlay that into something where one driver believes the way to pay back somebody for something that happened is take matters into their own hands."
But wasn't that what Logano was doing? ... paying Kenseth back for blocking and taking matters into his own hands? When Logano took Kenseth out, that pretty much also took out Kenseth's hopes for a championship. Everyone believes Logano taking Kenseth out was intentional as well, but they say ... well Matt was blocking and they were both racing for the win.
Still in both cases, each driver was believing "the way to pay back somebody for something that happened is take matters into their own hands." And by the way, Danica flat out admitted that she purposely took out the David Gilliand car. While Gilliand is not running for win or championship, isn't that the same thing... one driver paying back another driver and taking matter into their own hands?
So what's your take on this? Is NASCAR just in between a rock and hard place or are they being hypocritical?
