Old White City Pics

Pics from both versions of Godfrey would be cool. The Sprints were great on the old configuration.

Are you sure it wasn't former Nascar Weekly Racing Series champion Tom Hearst in the #75? I recall Hearst running that car at an open comp show at White City. Actually, I recall him nearly lapping the field that day.

The # is c75 with Petroff as one sponsor and a truck equip co in High Ridge, Mo. as another.
My money is on Tim having it right with that being Bert Cheatem.

THANX RICH

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people!!!

Ray Guss Jr

The white 75 is Ray Guss JR. of Milan Ill. i believe that was 1986. Go to dirt fans and look up Ray Guss Jr. Tom Hearst bought the car i believe in 88.

The white 75 was owened by S&K chevrolet the chevy store in peoria il. I know guss jr, hearst, & ed baughman all drove it between 85 and 89 and guss sr and jr were both sponsored by them forever. one night at white city i saw hearst in that car win a feature over billy moyer with both right side tires flat, i think he ran the last 3 or 4 laps that way.

Sorry

Sorry, your right, i just looked at over 20 pictures of Ray Guss Jr., and he never had a red helmet. Ray always had a white helmet. Sorry.

Mike Wallace White City

i was hoping somebody had some of the street stocks when they had the specials i think they were 50 laper mike Harris in the 43 56 Plymouth batmoble won a few I have some of the winner circle but none of the car at speed mike said he always like that track it gave the big block dodge a work out the one i remember the most was that it was so dusty that a official got run over that was sad , mike said all he did was follow the chrome bumper on the car in front of him he said if he would have went to st Louis I would have followed him that one i remember. we had a borrowed motor home . I was on top but could not see all the way around it . it was dusty

i was there in darwin roaches nova,i was real proud of my qualifing time as i went out 150th or so and qualified around 60th or so,not to bad for going out that late, some where there is a pict of me on my qualifing lasp, you can see a roostertail of dust shooting high in the air out the back of the car...i was ready to race but after the deal with the cornor worker i kinda lost heart and 3 hrs later i said it just aint worth it and went home

The guy from Arkansas was Jerry Buck and The driver from Wisconsin that also won a feature there was Jeff Hoagland

mike Harris won some $1000 to win races up their and always race good their. with his big block Dodge. his Dodge was painted like Richard Petty's Dodge and the same number yes we always tried to make the spring and fall specials up their for the street stocks in the mid to late 80''s that is when we found out about. ran maybe 6 to 8 time s with dodge would be nice to see a pic of it on one of those special a guy came down and told us that on his radar gun , he got mike at a 127 mph and the end of the straight going into turn one he said nobody was going in faster then he was. we could not believe it and on 8' tire that we had to borrower from the guy park next to us we would still like to thank him again I don't remember his name or # after all these years but thanks again.
and I remember seeing a nova up their with out any floor pan in his car , we ask how he kept his feet from the ground . he replied I just hang them on the pedals . I don't remember if it was the same guy but on the one day race up their a nova was qualifying and his car looked like a bird going down the straightaways with the sides of the car raising out and up on straights and go back down in the corners man I still get laugh and fond memory of that.
