Outlaw Rules for Bedrock???

:rolleyes: Done a little looking around at other outlaw rules, the one that made the most sense to me was UAS rules to the most extent. The rules are based on displacement vs wieght, the more displacement the more wieght. There rules read as follows;
Flat head 4 stroke cycle engine, 190 lbs plus for 1 for every 3cc or fraction of a cc. Mutiple engines or cylinders are allowed. 466cc maximum total displacement. heres an example say you have 16.686 cu/in *16.39 = 273.48 cc's /3=add 91 lbs to 190= 281 lbs .miniumum wieght.
I agree with the theory but not the starting wieght think it should be more like 280. Why you ask???? Heres why!!! say you have a WKA Briggs Open limit 14.5 Cu/in (any thing much less in my opinion you wont be competitive)
14.5 Cu/in* 16.39=238 cc's /3=79.3+280=359.3lbs the current MINIMUM wieght.
Next example Big Star!!! say 28.43 Cu/in the max displacment allowed. 28.43* 16.39=456.98 or 466cc/3 =155.33 or 156+ 280=436 lbs total weight. The rest would fall out some where in the middle. Don't know if this will acutally level the playing field totally .but it would be a good compromess to run 5 hp & 10 hp in the same class to get the kart count up in the class & stop the division.Would have to do some more arethmetic for the 2/smokers. Competietors would have to declare CC's & weight at sign in. Tech would be done by pulling a head & doing some simple measuring calulating. If you think someone is in violation, put your money up & lets see what happens. It mite need very little tweeking but would be a very good starting point.I think it should Make it much more competitve. If U would like to read the UAS rules Check out www.flallstars.com. I would like to hear what participants think & or contemplanting participnats think like Larry , Irefin, Mizzry Dirt, & Lenny What the hold up its only $$$MONEY. OVER & OUT!!

Scott, These #'s seam very reasonable. The 5hp racers deserve to race @ min.weight/around 360.And also the BIG Stars have to give weight to make it fair/around 425.If we can reach an agreement similar to these #'s,I believe we can all race together competitively. It sure would beaf up the # of karts that can race together as 1 class. It looks like you're on to something, run with it!! As for other tracks rules, lets just work on Bedrock now, maybe JYI will agree.JMO :D

Rookie 36 it would be based on displacement! To figure it out (Bore* Bore*Stroke *.7854= Cu/in*16.39 conversion to CC's ) then /3 to see how much wieght you would have to add to the 280Lbs starting point. some examples 3"*+194 briggs would have to wiegh 394lbs, a stock star 3.3125* 2.532 would have to weigh 400 lbs. It solely depends on displacement.

sounds like this could work.lets put it on paper for rules meeting.i think we are going to all end up running togeather any way.not enough karts for each class would be my guess.would be more fun with 6 or 8 in one class.whats every one think? riche as you can see i dont have a desk job by my puter skillzs.

Hay Carl maybe you could get Esten (Scott Willie) to teach you how to use that there computer & Olive Oil to work with you on the spelling. :D

Over & Out!!!

scott

i am not sure my calculator just caught on fire . i will have to get back to you. :D scott my problem with that is if kurt races again in the outlaw class with a big star i will have to add 170 lbs of lead to the kart.but then again it might be fun to run a small cu/in motor with a weight break. just might work?

I really dont think addidng weight is going to even things out. The more power you have the more weight you are going to need to get it to hook up especially with Frank running the track drier than he used to. Just my two cents.

Learn how to make adjustments and set up a kart and there is no problem.

Dirt racer 88 Carl run about 5 races won1 Was leading another when run out of fuel with a 14.8 cu/in stock block and he & cart wieght in at 380!! track was dry he only needed to weight 362 by this rules. Its not all cu/in If we have enough to split classes great but dont think we will,& have fun! wieght is the only other way I can come up with but am open to suggestion Frank. If you have another Idea lets here it.This is what other Outlaws are doing to even things out in the the U.S. Are you & your dad going to come out to play this year? This may not totaly level out the playing field but it would make thing much more interesting than a 14.5 cu/in & a 27 cu/in having both to wiegh 360 lbs hell the guy with the 27 cu/in would have to add about 70 lbs give or take 5lbs thats got too to slow him down some.If you have another Idea lets here it.

Over & Out!!:D

Scott,
I dont have a better idea, I was just giving my opinion. Like you said we probably arent going to have enough karts to split the class. So its better than nothing. We will be there to race no matter what happens with the rules.

propsed rules

Proposed rules for Bedrock Raceway

Outlaw Class

1. Engines

A. Any type 4-cycle single cylinder engine, no limit to modification (Max CU/IN 27.5 or 450cc)

B. Any type 2 cycle single cylinder engine, no limit to modification (Max CC 150)

C. NO forced induction allowed or nitrous oxide.

D. Fuel restrictions, methanol or gasoline only. No fuel oxidizers (nitro or propylethyne) allowed.

E. NO transmissions or torque converters.

2. Minimum Weight / Max Displacement

A. 4 cycle engines, 280 lbs plus 1 lbs for every 3 cc’s or fraction of a cc. (Maximum displacement 27.5 cu/in or 450 cc) Minimum weight is 430 lbs for a 450 cc engine.

B. 2 cycle engines, 280 lbs plus 1lbs for every cc, or fraction of a cc. (Maximum 150 cc). ) Minimum weight is 430 lbs for a 150 cc engine.

C. Minimum weight is 360 lbs for all Karts

3. Calculating Displacement/ Declaring weight.

A. The following will be used for calculating displacement.

BORE X BORE X STROKE X .7854 = CU / IN.

To convert CU / IN. to CC’s (CU/IN X 16.39 = CC’s)

This assumes the Bore & Stroke were measured in inches 16.39 is the conversion factor from cubic inches to cubic centimeters. Always round up to the nearest whole CC when calculating minimum weight.

B. Competitors must declare their Minimum Weight on their Kart in such a way that the scale person can easily read it. (Such as the top left side of the body.)

4. Tech Inspection/ Protest

A. Tech will be performed by simply pulling off head & measuring bore & stroke using dial calipers to determine CC’s versus weight at scales.

B. Protest will be made by using current rules & fees.

C. Engines/weight may be changed 1 time during the course of the nights racing. But must be approved by race director.

Well what do you think about somthing like this???

Over & out

scott

are you going to bring this copy to the meeting on sunday, or do you want me to make copies to hand out to everyone. if everyone agrees on this we can make a supplement for the rules. let me know b4 sunday thanks.

Larry plan on bringing about 20 copys to meeting, it turned out bad when i copied it to the forum, I will make it look a little better for the metting. I'am working out of town but should make it , if I can't I'll email a better copy to you. Please send me your email address on a private message.

Over & Out!!!

This will not total even thing out but its better than nothing.I will most likely have a 5 horse and 20 more #s on a ten would close the gap some i think.no other ideas have been posted so if majority of people who are going to run outlaws agree we run with it.any better ideas please post them.

Outlaw Racing at Bedrock

I cannot believe all the commotion on the rules about outlaw racing. I though we were racing for fun. I have NEVER brought home a $ in all of the years that I have raced at Bedrock. I would just love to get hit by a 450 pound kart at speed. That would be fun. If everyone wants to run in a class with a bunch of rules go back to the stock classes. I am not against keeping racing fun and fair but I went to the outlaw class for more competion and more speed. I only won a couple of races last year but I had a lot of fun, except for when someone had a BIG brainfade and put me throught the fence when I was cleanly passing them. Why cant we just get out there and race and have fun? I do not understandwhy every year racers complain complain complain. I am just out there for the fun. RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG! I dont care if a racer shows up with a 454 on his kart. I just want to race.

For someone that doesn't like complaining you sure complain alot.I agree run what ya bring, but more karts equals more fun.So some type of comprimise is in order. If you don't have an answer, don't critique somebody that has an idea to help things.PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!!
