Here is a close up of the actual impact shot. I think there's only one guy in the background that is even reacting to it, and they are only the width of the wall away from it. Needless to say, all of those people were removed from that area afterward, and it goes without saying no one will be allowed to watch from there in the future.

Why make such a stupid comment? It is auto racing at a fast track and accidents happen.

No chit! A simple comment like "Why not just add a DO NOT STAND HERE sign?" would have been suficient... heartless d... nevermind! just my .02 on that crap!!!
On a side note, we had a driver here do that tonight (friday). Throttle stuck, stuffed the gaurdrail on front stretch, then walloped the wall HARD!!! Got out as soon as the yellow came on. THEN a mod hooked a rut, turned right into the wall (looked like Dale Earnhardt's hit) but was A ok. He went straight into it to... dam ugly to see. But everyone walked away without any sort of injury... But that looked horrible!!! Glad he is ok as well!!!!!

what makes my comment stupid? please explain yourself. two cars in a weeks time had identical wrecks in a weeks time. lots of cars have been torn up in the same manner. is it going to take a fan or crew member to get hurt or worse to get something done?

Common since would tell you that if your child is in the pits or in the stands for that fact do not let them play by the fence or near the fence. The kids for $10 is a great deal and I for one would not pay $25 for my child to be in the pits. It is the parents responsiblity to watch the kids and just because they have a play ground doesn't mean ok go to the play ground so you don't have to watch them. I see parents that let the children at Tri City stand at the fence in turn 1 and turn 4 when the cars are at full speed and not say any thing to them.

Those guys on the wall are just adrenaline junkies. They go to their local track and dodge flying cars. I don't ever go in the pits but when you sign that paper doesn't that pretty much cover tri city from being sued. I went to Bluegrass Speedway and cars were flying off the track into the pits where people were standing and pitted. People were standing on the wall and when a car came they just ducked and popped back up.
