Pics of Will Krup's aftermath of crash @ Terre Haute. I've never seen this airflow going to carb

First, glad Will was OK after a very violent and high flyin flip at Terre Haute..

But what is the air flow stuff going to the carb here in these pics? You don't have to run a standard air cleaner setup on UMP Mods?

Looks like a ram air type intake. I don't see a rule that says you HAVE to run a conventional filter.

You have to be very careful with carburetor hats and the like because it's VERY easy to screw up the bowl venting and send the fuel curve out to lunch.

now all us wan-a-bee fast racers will HAVE to have one of those deals on our hot rods....am glad the dude is ok

Not gonna happen...they aren't for sale. I will tell u that it made BIG horsepower difference on the dyno. Anytime u pull cool air from in front of the radiator it's a good thing. Just to let you know how off limits it is...Billy Moyer called wanting several of them and he was told they aren't for sale!

Wow, I'm glad Will is ok!

Purely speculating here, but it would not surprise me if Will's intake setup has more to do with downforce and less to do with getting extra air into the engine. "In theory" sucking air from under the nose could create a higher pressure differential which would translate into increased downforce on the nose. This is the same theory that Latemodel guys were using a while back to increase downforce on the nose by cutting out extra large left-front wheel-wells/fenders.

I am a little more curious about those carburetor bowls.

Kenwoodjeff, go on you tube, Race Day Vlogs, Will's New Superbowl Demo.. Im pretty sure thats what your seeing there with the fuel bowls.. i would post it, but dont know how..

Geez people street/drag/hotroddsers/mud trucks/road coarse guys have been doing this for many years. Its nothing new. I made my very own 20 years ago using plexiglass and dryer tubing and big funnel on a daily driver and picked up MPG and .2 or a second on the 1320.

back in the day I had a 10 inch valosity stack and a filter on top of that...on my allied hobby car--I will post a picture if I can find it...and that's just what some of my fellow mod racers need MORE HORSEPOWER...........will it work on my 500 holly

It is not a ram air set up. The filters are conical and hang in front of the radiator to get cold air. I will agree that having a flat hood with nothing sticking up probably has better airflow. There were a lot of pictures of this at PRI.
