possible new race track in stl area!!!!!!

if somebody could convince the city council to allow it cause that was what closed it was a small and i mean small group of people complained about noise and as far as alcohol it could have been brought in just not allowed for promoters to advertise that and greenville is no longer dry and the county never was dry so if somebody could get an liquor licesne that could help

I was thinking sportsman with the brownstown street stocks being able to run with them......street stocks with the same rules as TCS, highland, and b-ville.....and hornets......and then maybe rotating classes every week between mods, crates, and maybe occasionally bring in the power-i series.....and running maybe 10-15 nights if the board would aprove it......

and no chewin dirt... cant do that,,,,unless you want to be the sponsor and supply all the beer up front......lol

The biggest obstacle is convincing the greenville city council of doing it and the fairboard to help you fight it

just lost my interest....

im a brownstown street stock....and i dont speak for all of us ofcourse but they wont come race against sportman..........ask mt vernon......you might as well say it out loud....."we are ganna run sportsmans but we'd love it if you come beef up our car count" they wont fall for that.......i really dont think the stl area streets and well all the other streets in the state are that far apart, there can be sanctions made to make it work.......i understand the situation with the location but, you dont want to alienate potential customers and there is alot of streets out there......

Your not going to get what you want from greenville, there will be too many hands in the till, you have the fair board, the city, police, then you have the ole timers that live by the track,, its been tried twice,,, fell though both times,,you want a good track you will need to truck in some clay, not the baseball dimond dirt that is there,, Ken Johnson I think he got the track for a race or two, might give him a call,,,,,

Medics33.... Please don't lose interest....I was under the impression they the rules for b-town SD were comparable to sportsman....I'm not sure what your rules are.....I would have to look at your rules to be sure.....and nothing is set in stone....the battle is going to be with greenville city council and fair board....and finding equipment and sponsors......I am just trying to get info and ideas can't say for sure that it will happen.....

pay them and they will come.....your best hope is to pay good and never cut it......things are hard on the racers wallet.......so the first thing they will look at is the payout...........and the first time you cut it........your shooting yourself in the foot............thats the bottom line......i dont know how to tell you to do that........but.......there ya go.......
Im all for a fair purse....i was just meaning no 1000 to win weeks. Just a good decent payout even for the b mods....which would be there in great force. To this day.......i donot understand why noone around here runs a b mod class. Like was said too...need new dirt!! Stuff there needs tilled and new stuff brought in. Last year of racing there the track was pretty bad(go find posts on the last races.....ruts.....ruts.......ruts). Tore up some cars and 1 reason the classes trimmed down. If you bring in dirt......get beer..........and run a decent set of classes........i think it would fly. And a big..........thank you at the end of each night doesnt hurt.

And...if you run b mods any night........bonus would be wont have to worry about them going anywhere else as thats the only place to go.

greenville

i'm still interested,,,,,my dad won his first modified feature there.....ive already talked to a few of our guys and they are excited....just tyin to help....the whole sportsman\streetstock thing never works and i'd be crused if it opened and didnt have a class for me to race..............

as for bmods i agree they need to be started in this area.....but,,,this guy is ganna have a hard time getting up and running....he doesn't need to pile it on by trying to build a class by himself.......a bmodd isn't something a guy is goin to throw togther it is still a car that will have to be purpose built to run at 1 track........and it will cost as much to build as any other mod minus the motor.........just isnt ganna be easy to get up and running at least not right away.......and why deal with thatKris blankenship3bmotorsports

Good luck with your plan... I was born and raised there but it is a backwards azz town because of the "College"and various other reasons. Like someone said earlier,it would make a good kart track.Cooperation would be a big issue,Sunday nights didn't go well the last time and I doubt if anything has changed.... I'm just saying.

ok how about running sprints / midget's / micros oh and karts on the infield since there is a QMA track right behind the track anyway? Give those guys a home to race at without traveling all over the place. To many stock car tracks around here and hardly a full field on any given weekend. Don't take the stock cars away from the tracks running right now give the little guys and low budget racers a place to run cheap. Don't pay out much so they don't expect much. What ever happened to racing for the love of the sport? Oh ya greed. Just a thought. Biker6403 is right.

One suggestion: Don't require people to pay an entry fee to be part of your points program, then the night they pay it, you announce at the drivers meeting that you are closing down. It leaves a bitter feeling towards a place and the people involved! ON a more positive note, always like going there, my husband liked racing there. Good luck with the city!

ok....new update.......just got off the phone with a member of the fair board.......they are aloud ten (10) nights, plus one or two nights during fair week.....so that would mean a total of 11-12 nights of racing......a temporary liquor license can be obtained for beer sales at the facility.....there is two diferent facilities to be used as concession stands......there is a water truck and access to water.....but there is no equipment to work the track......i have been invited to speak to the fair board at the next meeting and maybe get more information on what it will take to make something happen......i will continue to get info and keep those of you informed .....please continue to help find sponsors and any help that can be found and maybe we can have a third night of racing in the area for next year......I have also been invited to come tour the facility .........that is a good sign when they invite you to come see the facility and attend a meeting .........right?

might want to go talk to lumpy

he always raced there.....and has a business that stands to benefit from a racetrack opening up a few blocks from his speed shop...........magine he could take care of fuel and parts at the track........

what about midgets, run them when the poweri isnt racing that weekend, nowhere weekly to run and there are quite a few cars in this area

as far as bmods i think if you got the word out soon enough you would be pleasently suprised on the car count steel headed 355 2 barrel carb or 602

Couldnt agree more about the midgets...and if you ran micros sprints on sunday you could probably get the cars for like $300 to win or so based on car count. Midgets need a weekly track around here....I would like to see weekly midget at Belleville on POWRi off saturdays.....I can only wish i guess lol
