Races canceled at Doe Run for Friday

Why would someone be negative about this? The man is more concerned about the safety of the fans and drivers than his pocket book... And he's the first promoter/owner to call me up to let me know why he's doing it... I'm behind him 100%..I work in this heat all day and as much as I like to race I'll be enjoying tonight in the AC!!

So let me get this right, if it stays this hot for a couple of more weeks we aren't going to race for a long time? If that is the case then I guess the promoter is looking out for the drivers, but my guess is if it stays like this for say 3 more weeks I'll bet we start racing in the heat! My vote, for what it is worth, is now and forever will be RACE RACE and RACE!!!.

Good call Bobby !! Some people just aren't as tough or ..... ,well, you know, as others. :D

I guess we'll have to tie kerosene soaked rags around our ankles to keep the pissants from eating our candy @sses. I got my car ready last night(it'll actually run now....) but I am going to enjoy some A/C this evening. It was over 100 degrees inside of our "climate controlled" shop today. I've sweat enough for the day. Good call, Bob.

I work in the Molding area at S-R automotive. My department is split by a cinderblock wall, half of the department is around 80 degrees(in the main plant), the other half(warehouse side) is outside temp + 10 degrees typically. I happen to be lucky enough to work on the "warm" side. Both have "C.C." units, but you can obviously tell which one works best......

Hey dirtsurfer, I like the way you think. I really like the part about the candyasses! I was watching channel 5 news at 10:00. They had a womens softball team on there. They were asked if they wanted to cancell the games due to the heat. They unanimously said no. I guess we need some women in this class. Can you beleive how all the RAMS people all joined in on thinking this was a good thing. There must be something in the koolaid they are serving at those meetings.

All the RAMS?...Man lighten up a little...I could have raced last night but i'm used to it like a lot of others. But some are not. So we'll probably be racing next week..that's great hot or not..but maybe everyone else will be a little more accustomed to the heat by then.

I just appreciated the call more than the decision.

Not everyone can be as studly as a big time parts manager! I know all about that gravy job...hehe

HUH????????????? ALL the RAMS people???? Only a few posted on here about Bobby's decision. I, for one, I had never heard of a race track cancelling due to heat. However, in the end, it was Bobby's final decision, so why get upset about it. Obviously, we all know that racing is in the summer months and the temperature is going to get HOT.......and right now it's REAL HOT!!!!! I would have been at the track if they raced (later than normal, but I would have been there). Instead, we enjoyed the evening at the pool!!!!! :D

I know the "RAMS" people who posted would have been there racing...HOT or not!!!! But, this wasn't their decision, and there was nothing they could do about it. So why get worked up over it??????

The decision to cancel was made after several phone calls to see what the racers, fans, and officials thought about the heat. The only reason some are mad is because Bob didn't call them.Hats off to you Bob............And YES I wish MCS would think about the heat and cancell also.........

Well, maybe it will be cool enough for everybody this friday so we can see if our stuff will stay together. And as for my air conditioned job, I guess you don't know as much as you think you do. What did you do all weekend Mr. Wheel21? My guess is you sat in your air and enjoyed your gravy little existence! But then again I could be as wrong as you! But there I go again, and I was going to try to get along well with others.

Yep..i sat in the ac except when i mosied over to SCFR...And today I worked outside in this wonderful weather...

I hope you get some relief from this brutal weather the next couple of days. That is if the weather man ain't messing with us. No matter what I said about the races, Hate to see anybody work out in this crap. Except for working at the track or at home of an evening, I haven't had to make a living out in the elements in a long time. And when I was out there it was Uncle Sam calling the shots. Before that a little hodcarrying and I don't have to tell anybody what that is like, it ****ed.

Pwracing first I want to make it clear that I do not mean this in a rude or defensive way. And I consider Brian to be a good friend and has helped me more than I can say throughout the season and I can't say how much I appreciate it. But as everyone knows that knows me I spent a year in Iraq in temperatures exceeding 150 degrees and we had no choice but to work. It was our job. I'm not saying this to get people to pity me or the troops still there my point of this post is that I completly agree with what bobbie has done. I know with out any doubt that I can take any heat good Ol Missouri wants to give me (with the exception of the humidity) but there is no reason to drag young kids that race and are fans, or the elderly fans out to the track. I have personally seen multiple heat injuries and have treated a couple its not something to toy with. As far as the racers go yes we are used to it and can handle it but I personally don't want to race if there are no fans in the stands to cheer us on. I hope that this doesn't piss you off like I'e seen other posts have but just a little self critism from me. As far as knowing who people are to confront them my name is Chris Pettus I drive the # 92 and you can ask brian how to find me. Hope you don't take it like that.

Hey, first of all I got nothing but respect for anybody who serves in the military, past and present. What the people of the military have to endure is more than most people will ever realize. People who know me know that a lot of the stuff I say is half serious and half bull****. I have a lot of fun with most situations that I encounter on these boards. I even give myself crap for some of the things I say. I don't want to show up if anybody else doesn't either. I just don't want somebody to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside thinking they are really concerned about me when they should be worried about their bottom line. Which is what I suspect is what motivates most track owners decisions, and it should. Who knows, maybe Bobby is that great of a guy. I don't know him so I can't say for sure. We worked our asses off to get ready and didn't get to race! Its over and now we can look forward to this coming friday. Hope to see you there. Sounds like the weather will be great. Doe Run has a pretty good thing going on there and I hope it continues for them. You do have to concern yourself with the fact that if a place like Fredrock should reopen and you have some disgruntled participants and fans, it could lead to some of them going elsewhere. That is a concern of mine because we are thinking about adding another car to the class in 2006. If you get people going there for whatever reason it could be bad for the track and the class. Not to blow smoke up your *****, but with racing aside, thank you to you and everybody else out there for everything you all did and continue to do in the military. I don't have very many heros, and none of them are racers. My dad is my biggest one. He was a volunteer in WWII and went back again as a volunteer for the Korean war. There were many like him and all of them heros, not much unlike our volunteer services of today. But, there I go again, I think I'll just shut up and leave it at that.
