Restarts?

This is a good discussion. Yea you seem to have at least on person who has a dislike on everyone who is for the double file but lots of opinions here and pretty good talk. Look Nascar has figured they are in deep trouble. They are going to revamp for next year but they have no real clue as to what brings a current fan to the stands anymore. None. Our goverment has no clue as to what to do about the budget crisis. Local tracks have a pretty good idea as to what brings a fan to the stands and they do a good job mixing ideas around to attract more people. In this day and age that itself deems a thumbs up. They could just all fold up and save their money doing so as this year especially has put them all to the test dealing with Mother Nature.

Im a low budget racer and I say yes. Same thing with dashes. Sure both could result in my car get torn up but I'm there to race not try to squeak by and convince myself I'm making money racing..lol
Good point. If racers are worried about costs the dashes add to their costs too. Tires fuel more wear on their motors and the possibility of getting into a crash with a race that doesnt mean much actually. Just its a race of just the top 6 cars all by theirselves. Yes it helps set up the feature lineup but heat races could just do that too.

Thanks, but please don't misunderstand my posts. I'm ALL FOR dashes and double file restarts...and AB products:)

Racing is suppose to be entertainment... I can't count how many times a great 2 and 3 wide race was interrupted by a caution only to become a single file glorified hot lap session.

Yep, so true! We'll see if the powers to be have enough gumption to make a change that will actually HELP what they're all crying abt, which is low attendence.

Oh im for the dashes too. But if concern for money and cost are talked about those do ad too that as well. Great post.

I do think that having double file restarts will be so entertaining that it will put more people in the stands so management should take a long look at this Idea!

Lets set up some roll over ramps on the strait aways an if you get a lap down you have to go over the roll over ramp to stay on the track kinda down low where no body really runs an then if it is one lane on the bottom an you can't pass conventionally you can just leap frog over guys in the way man this has just got me brainstorming thinking outside the box we need to get an engineer working on this ASAP an a formal proposal to take to track officials

Trust me I am all about entertainment have you ever seen me race?ps that ramp we had at belville won't cut it it needs to have more angle

People have to sometimes remember when they where up and coming and going through the learning curve let alone also remember it take 17 other cars to make a feature. Without that you have an over gloryfied 15-20 lap heat race. Its not all about the so called "front runners" but its also about everyone else. Bob Wente was a good promoter. 1 time he was so mad about all the cautions(and yes.....it was single file break checkin bull!) that he took everyone together and said this quote. "We or you are not here to race. You are here to put on a show! Stinking up the show is no good and making it better for the fans is!"

I've only seen double file restarts at 3 tracks. Fairbury, a track in TN, and Grundy County (asphalt). I saw a lot of cars get torn up at Fairbury but I can't say the double file restarts were to blame. The double file restarts sure help make the show to be more entertaining at Grundy.

Some say a pill draw format leads to tore up cars too. They blame the slow cars that "shouldn't" be up front. Funny thing is when Kankakee used a pill draw for LM it was a few FAST cars that were tearing up everyone's equipment. Seems those guys learned how to be fast but they never learned how to race.

I'm all for anything that makes racing more entertaining. That might be double file restarts at one track, pill draw at another, or redraw at another track. Or how about this.....do like they used to do and start the fast cars in back! What works at one track may not work at every track. I do know this....someone better step up and do something SOON.

Diameter x the circumference divide by PI + 26..... yep Rusty, I think it can be done!!!

I think as a fan there great for watching and as a driver I hate them. its good way to get your equipment tore up and cost a lot of money. I enjoy my equipment too much to go get tore up every week, how can some one tune a car in when there to busy replacing parts every week from someone else tearing you up every week. I think this is a bad idea, and you will see less cars every week if this happens.

Lets run one way for half race then turn around for second half and see who can make that bar car work that's a brainstorm or brainf-rt mods only rusty lol! Minimum tire psi 35 might help rules and tire wear until u crash

Superdave is right there's is no question there would be a lot more tore up stuff and why would you want to sit thru so many yellows? Drivers getting tore up =less cars=not good for the future of racing.

maybe thats whats wrong here the guys who are so worried about being tore up are the idiots that dont realize you CAN LIFT and YOU DO HAVE A BRAKE PEDAL its up to you to use them correctly

Car count has continously declined for years now. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT makes sense to what seems like a majority. Except a few :'-( Putting fast cars in back would be the best options for the fans and entertainment value but obviously all the big hitters with the money would throw a temper tantrum so lets meet in the middle for the sports sake. Stay in line and 9/10 times you'll be fine. Idk maybe its just me but starting the fastest cars up front every week and not doing anything to MAKE it racey just sounds real f*ckin dumb. No wonder no one shows up, you know who wins BEFORE THE RACE STARTS!

Ok all kidding aside here is my solution to get people back in the stands mods get late model pay b mods or sportsman get mod pay an bombers get the sportsman pay hornet guys have to move up to bombers late models race for 2 thousand to win two hundred to start an rotate between all local tracks on a set schedule this would require a lot of cooperation between tracks but it could work only 3 classes fill those classes up I have nothing against crates hornets or any of the classes I just think there are to many options heck get rid of mods if you want but we need to get to 3 classes pay them well so they can keep coming back or just do double file restarts that might fix it who knows just for the record I liked double file restarts when I raced with Usmts those couple times but its totally different than local racing an that's a fact hope the promoters figure it out cause I'm not to good at fishing or putting sentences together obviously

Well less fans in the stands=no place for drivers to race. Its a 2 way street. Im all for drivers having an input but really its about puttin butts in the bleachers. Im all for not gettin cars tore apart. But ive seen many "front runner" cars cause their fair share of cautions by running over people for no reason. And thats both single and double file. That argument is pointless in my opinion. If you let drivers's dictate what they want or dont want that is the worst thing a track can let happen. Trust me........i seen it one year at one track and it became a complete circus. Worst racing. Track was horrible due to the driver kept griping about the amount of water being used. Had so much water on it one night it was like boat racing in the hot laps...........literally.
