Rules for ministocks at MCS posted

Tires:

Thanks Wheel Man:

I think we may have some tires that read 45 when I checked them.
We run those on the right front when it is really tacky, other then that we are up above 55 on the durometer.
We were looking into the e-mod thing. It seemed to be the logical thing to do until we got our third car competition ready and saw how hard it struggled on e-mods and then we decided to keep running our midget tires. Besides, not only would we have to purchase all new wheels and tires, but change the cars back to 5 lug bolt patterns. Thats allot of cash in it self.

Have you got your new mod yet?
It is a different view from the drivers seat in one of those.
Good luck down there.
Keep us posted down here on this lowly mini stock forum.LOL:D

Uncle Ed.

Yes I got the mod. But now I have to sell the ministock to help get the motor. I'm sure it will be different in the mod. I'm not too worried about driving it, but I need to learn how to set the thing up for sure. There's bars and springs all over the place underneath that thing!:D :D

An Engine for your mod.

Hey Wheel Man,

I have a 355 Chevy that was built to run some spec class
down in Texas.
Never fired.
Customer got arrested by the IRS for tax fraud and never took delivery.
Best of everything went into this.
If you are interested I will get you the info on it.
Real good buy.
Everything from intake to pan is ready including the ignition system, plugs, cap and rotor. The works.

Let me know, I could send you some pics.

Thanks:

Uncle Ed.

Snow Removel Time.

I have to go out and play in the snow now.

The tractor is warmed up and the neighbors are looking at me as if they are waiting for me to come over and hit their driveways.
I hate to disapoint them, so see you all later.

Uncle Ed:) :)

"Any inline four cylinder domestic compact pickup"

If I am reading this correctly the Toyota's and Nissans can not run at MCS this year. I am not sure I understand this move.

We are extremely excited to have the mini stocks back at the Fredericktown Raceway this year. I'm in the process of setting up some special shows for the various classes and of course that includes the mini stocks. Don't forget our payout for the mini stocks are by far the best around and with all the improvements to the track and the facilty I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed. We DO NOT run an open rules format, our rules are basically the same RAMS association rules that we had run for the past few years. Don't miss out on the fun this year. The Fredericktown Raceway is a tremendous track for the mini stocks if you have never raced there. If you would like a little more info on Fredericktown go to: www.fredrock.info or go to the Fredericktown forum here on Stlracing.com.....

Yea guys:

At the meeting Mike Null and I had this discussion about the tires and he said that most of the mini's that run down south run a DOT "STREET TYPE" tire rule. Even this would kill all the work we did last year to get the cars to work at MCS. The only good thing about that is the sidewalls are almost indestructible and the tread will last longer. This would save all the teams loads of cash during the season and would limit the speeds to something realistic. I am not suggesting that we go to that, I like the fact that we run racing rubber. I think it adds to the "real race car" factor of the mini stock class around here.

Uncle Ed.

UNCLE ED ministocks us to run street tires so did my purestreet the problems was they tear the track up more (the deep tread ect.) that is why most class run racing tires

Thanks Smurf:

Thats the most intelligent thing I have heard this year.:)
No one has been able to tell me why we don't have to use DOT street tire.

Smurf, when you see us at the track, come over and have a cold drink and something to eat...
You just won the prize for having the right answer and I owe you one...

Thanks for helping an old drag racer understand this dirt track game better..:)

Jack, if thats the case then the CHEVYS are illegal because they are NOT an overhead cam motor.....

Very true Duck, I am not sure who came up with these rules but they have some major differences from what we did in the past. That makes it tough on us low budget guys.

By the way you have only owned one ministock this winter. You are at leased one behind.

I was told that the single overhead cam was a typo and it should say no dual overhead cams so the Chevys are legal. The Toyotas are made in the US now so they are domestic made and are OK. I don't know about other foreign cars or trucks but if they are manufactured in the US they would be OK.

Uncle Ed you have no idea how excited I am to see you folks at our track in Fredericktown this year. You're the exact kind of person our class was built from and enjoyed so very, very much over the first few years of it's existance. If you get a chance get with Wheelman21 or somebody at the track to show you some of the first videos of the mini stock class at Fredericktown when it first started. There was a comradary, a genuine friendship and caring for each other that was unmatched. I've got a feeling those days are returning. Look out for the #99 and #99x mini stocks this season. We've got two rookies, or at least one complete rookie and one other guy (we wanted Smurf but he's too good for us anymore) racing our two cars.
I don't know if Smurf has ever been accused of being "intelligent" or not, but as far as being a good friend, great father and caring individual for anyone who needs it, then Smurfy is our man.....

millsey

i guess that makes all of us around mcs a bunch of s.o.bs. who don't care about others, who don't help others and could care less about the class or future of mini-stocks. maybe miilsey should have come to a couple races up here and seen how we are cut throat racers. we pit together and help each other, we may point fingers and accuse people of things, but those same people have been seen working on others car together to get them back in the feature. we have first hand experience and will always be thankful. not that we are better then other tracks, but we are far from the worse... kurt, car 42

What????????????? Kurt that's not anywhere near what I was saying. It was just a really different and unique experience that many of us had ever had when associated with racing. It was competitive, but yet the guy you just edged out for either a win or fifth or sixth place was the first one to jump out of their car and come and congratulate you. I had been involved in all other aspects of racing, but it was my first, first-hand experience at owning and putting cars/trucks together and it was the other racers and/or owners that made it all so special... That's what I was saying. I haven't had an opportunity to work with some of the current mini stock racers at MCS, but after reading several of Uncle Ed's comments it seems very obvious to me that he is somebody I would greatly respect.

Thanks Jeff:

Thanks for the good words Jeff:

I know what you were saying and so does Kurt, they are all great folks out at MCS and we all know it.
The rules battle has been some cause for concern, but in the end Mel has the finel say so and if you wish to compete there you will need to build or modify our cars accordingly.
I actuly think it is cool to have a place to "run what you brung" so to speek.
I just thought we would try to run this year at MCS for the points and see if I could get one of our drivers a championship.
As it looks now we will be runing selective races all over the eastern half of the state and where ever else our cars will pass tech.
We may also consider (budget permiting) to compete at the ROCK for the points provided we can't run at MCS.
I just don't know at this time as I have not had the right oppertunity to speek to Mel about the tire rules he put into place.

Again:

Thanks for the compliments and we are looking forward to making our way down to the Rock and meeting you and the others.

IF I JUST HAD A BIGGER HAULER I COULD BRING THE WHOLE MCS GANG DOWN THERE FOR A SAUTRDAY NIGHT.

That would be a real hoot!

Uncle Ed.
