Rusty Griffaw ?

Killing someone to win a race or save a motor ? I own a 15000 race motor and have owned 2 mods. I have been head pitman for a top modified for 10 years. You are saying if you are in the pits you should be aware of being killed by a someone who don't care about there fellow man.

As a person, when you purchase your ticket, enter the pits, and sign a waiver, you take a certain amount of responsibility for your, and your child's, safety at the track. That said, it's also up to the drivers to try to be mindful of the people in the pits. But several times I've seen fans in the pits lollygagging around in the middle of the drive aisle during a caution, and almost get hit by a late model or modified coming in to change a tire.

Rusty Griffaw should've known better though, considering he's always under scrutiny by the officials at Pevely.
perfectly stated, if it was Ray Walsh he would not have been penalized -_-

Had this been any other driver then Rusty this would not have happened. I have seen many drivers drive to fast in the infield. Does I-55 have a speed limit rule? If they so this is the first time I have heard of them enforcing it. Hope Rusty the best of luck where ever he races (hope it's not 55).

must've not been to pizzed he was still there at the end of the evening plus they were told inthe drivers meeting

I could not agree more with this post and most of you who are affraid to post anything on here will agree too. I have seen many of times drivers flying through the pits to change a tire or something else, were they DQ....uhh no!!! Marler always had a bad hemorrhoid called Griffaw and until he gets it popped or lazer he always will. And Griffaw is like a Stewart or a Busch in Nascar. You hate them so bad but they are the drawing crowd and it brings fans. What the heck are people doing standing in the middle of a driving lane through the pits? You should be a hood ornament if your going to do something like that.

To me, there should not be any kids in the pits during the race and if an adult can't pay attention, that is your own fault.

Griffaw will not be back.... Marlar - 0 Griffaw -1

mudface and STLMSR I work for Cory at his shop (not the race track). Tuesday Mr. Marler called Cory to inform him that he was in a financial bind and could not pay him for closing for the WOO show like he has done in the past 8 years that Cory has owned SFCR. Ray tells Cory to go ahead and race that night. You say it was hearsay, Yes it is , I hear him (Ray) say it over the speaker phone tell Cory about the WOO show. Ray also said he was not the one putting on the Woo show this year that he could not afford it and was leasing it out to another party because he is losing money and doesn't even know if he can stay open all season. If you want to know more , just ask. As far as the speeding in the pits, I can say that the pits are for race cars and people walking around need to watch for them. Absolutley never turn your back on a racecar. My best friend was killed in the pits in 1987 for turning his back on a car. Howard was one of them guys that preached about never turning your back on a car. I know my post will be deleated, but I am stating the facts and no cuss words............

I don't see how Ray could have made that call since he was sitting up in the tower when it happened.
Get your facts straight.

Allied made the call and a correct one if it happened.

I'm a Rusty fan but if it happened they made the right call. It's common sense to drive slow through the pits. Should have shut it down and pushed it.

Hope he does come back. He ALWAYS puts on a good show in whatever he is in.

Wow, wether Ray is pimping out the track or not that was pretty low of him todo that to Cory. Where is the "Boss" as he is referred to when he is in town? What does he think of the way Ray is running the show? Thanks for telling it the way it is Kenny. Jon

Ok thanks and I understand, all tracks right now are having problems...Im sure SFCR may be seeing it too but not much to do in Farmington and surrounding area but go to the Races so they may not, havent been there much since the late 80's early 90's. Just Thought this info didnt have to do much with speeding thru pits but it does in a since i guess, I-55 doesnt need lawsuits in a time of need and Racers should respect that.

Most race teams bring water, tires, impacts etc into the pits so they wouldnt have to fly to there outside pits, In my opinion Rusty whom has a lot of friends should talk to drivers that pit inside to help out in a case like this "overheating" and use there waterpack, jacks, tools or whatever they may need...he was most welcome to use our stuff ... and not just saying Rusty but anyone pitted outside should do this as well... Ive seen 3 deaths that all could of been avoided at tracks in my years all were accidents but with a little thinking there family's would have them here today... and 1 was at SFCR back when they pitted in the infield

Its called insurance......thats why you need to whoa it down in the pits. Ive ran my car hot.......never once did i fly through to get it cooled. If you got her that hot.....its your own damned fault. I was hit by a car(and no...i did not turn my back on him!!!) when i was 16! Should have seen what he did to the guy behind me............last i seen they were talking about cutting a leg off. I never did find out what happened..........but after that Godfrey had a no tolerance on speeding through the pits....via insurance company. You wanna cry about it.....call the tracks insurance because it mostly their fault as they are liable if someone gets hurt. Ray has that and about 1000 other things on his shoulders every race night..........go fill his shoes sometime and you wiull quickly see why he does what he does.

Wow... so the rumors are flying...

- track is losing money
- track cannot afford to pay SFCR for shutting down on WoO night (something I didn't even know was an agreement)
- track is being leased out for the WoO show
- may not be able finish the season

I'm not questioning those who have made these statements, but this is HUGE stuff. Can anyone associated with the track give clarity to their financial stability?

So Allied and Ray Marler will throw a driver and two cars out for atleast one night for speeding thru the pits but a camera man who seems to be the joke of many tracks can grab a hold of a person on his four wheeler and everything is good!Great!!!

Uh.......there was no grabbing. Second......joke at many racetracks?? Would you like to clarify that statement as Jimmy is more than welcome at all the tracks he goes to. Third...........Nick has been making his bed on here for along time.......and now its time he lay in it. If he cant handle the heat he has created.......he needs to get out of the kitchen

Im a former driver...........i got no beef with him. Why would any current one have one? If its due to his act on the tire issue..........some of them need to get a grip.

If it wasnt for Jimmy Dearing putting their pics and stats up week in and week out........let alone providing a site for driver's to interact with their fans or sponsors.........they'd have a tougher time getting sponsors and fans. Let alone.........current info and news. I could go on....but some driver will just say its all bull.

Absolutely not true

Have to disagree... We park behind the back grandstands at farminton and when the push buggies are trying to get a sprint started they are going pretty fast... When they come off the track, there not doing 5 miles an hour most times... So how do you get there not going fast?????

WOW! This Rusty thread has taken several truns. Let me see if I get this straight.

#1. Rusty speeding and being tossed out

#2. Jimmy and Nick deal

#3. Ray and Cory's speaker phone call

#4. WoO winged sprint show

#5. And probably an issue to be named later

I personally don't think anyone will win here but I do feel none of this is good for the sport. If you really care about dirt racing you better think long and hard as to how you state your opinions/facts because the outcome may have a very negative and irreversable affect the future of racing in the St. Louis area.

I'm just sayin'.....................
