Stacker2 Xtreme Dirt Car Series merges with U.M.P.!

You must ask yourself WHY??? UMP didnt need a series that has had so many problems or did they I would be willing to say this is the beginning of the end for both.

I hope not.

Seems to me that Xtreme is the one that will be experiencing the biggest changes. Tire rules and a fuller schedule. I'd imagine that the Summer Nationals will be pretty exciting next year. I'm sure that the Xtreme schedule will follow all the events through the SN's. I see this as step in the right direction and I'm looking forward to seeing who comes back to Xtreme for the remainder of the 2004 season and even more so in 2005!

I look at it differnent Jeff. I think this will keep Xtreme from certain death by changing the tire rule. And UMP should benefit from the merge by attracting bigger names to the large UMP sanctioned events. Personally I think that UMP will strengthen Xtreme and vice versa. I hope I'm not wrong.

still confused?

How can this possibly help "local" joe racer? the UMP point system as it is now is convoluted. Will this now help to force people to travel for points? The tire rule they have now, at this point, is fine two manufacturers and select compounds, but what you qualify with you have to stay with for the night. That seems fair, only if they would allow American Racer's to come into the game too... More manufacturers, more money in a point fund...

UMP taking over xtreme will probably only strengthen the WOO "dirty dozen" series where the top name guys will still take the money home. Moyer, Bloomer, Francis, et. al, will not leave WoO to run the UMPX Series.

look at the pay out for the SN shows...6K to win and 300 to start...bad news for LM racing...

Maybe I'm confused then, cause I don't see how this will hurt the weekly racers. As far as weekly UMP sanctioned events go there aren't any changes are there? The only place this might be a problem would be in the big shows with large payouts wouldn't it? And as far as the payouts for the SN's go you'd have to think that the $6000 to win shows would now be $10,000 to match the typical payouts for Xtreme shows. And there aren't many locals that run all of the SN's events anyway. I can't really say how adding American Racer would help or hurt. I'm of an understanding that they're cheaper to purchase though. You might be right that the Dirty Dozen won't leave WoO but I can't see how this merger would strengthen the WoO. Seems to me that the thing that hurt Xtreme has been the tire rule. Since this has changed I see the potential for them to grow. I just don't see where this merger is going to hurt the weekly points racing though. And don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing, I just don't see what you guys are seeing.

Indeed, the main reason that the WoO late models came into being is because drivers were not happy with having to go to Goodyear. Now that both series have opened up their tire rules, let the fireworks begin.

It is to my understanding that the goodyears ore only good for the remainder of this season and next year it will only be the hoosier lm series so the local guys won't have as big of a disadvantage .

I thought I understood it to be the open (or relatively open) tire rule was effective immediately.

Good God Q! I sure hope XDCS doesn't follow all the way through the SN's. If they do that just doubled the price of a SN's race, and so much for me hitting two or three at the local tracks. I hope it doesn't play out that way!

I can't imagine why Xtreme wouldn't follow the SN's schedule. If the two are merging and the SN's are the UMP's premier summer series I would imagine Xtreme following the schedule. And if it does double the price I'm more than willing to pay for the quality of racing that will be seen!

I have a feeling X will be ran like NALMS has been this year. Still under the UMP banner and management but its own seperate series. That woudl be the best way to do it.

It is my understanding that Xtreme will still run their national schedule. Then Xtreme will catch up with UMP and co-sanction the weekend $10,000 to win SN shows with the payout at those races bumped up to the Xtreme payout. The $6,000 to win weekday shows will stay the same.
