TCS makes Best of... in the RFT

The sad part is that if he thinks TCS and dirt track racing is bad he should go to a NASCAR race!!!!

oh and dean they can call me hicks all they want. oh i guess thats because thats my last name. :D CAN YOU BELIEVE MY WIFE WOULDNT LET ME NAME MY DAUGHTER DUMB COUNTRY? :D :D :D

I have family in Granite City and they affectionately refer to the track as "Planet Granite" because of all the interesting people that hang out there. I like the sound of it. Anyone else? By the way, I love the place more than any other place on earth. I guess I am a hoosier lover. Heck, I guess I am a hoosier myself. Cool!!! I always just thought I was a redneck. :D :D

so what we are saying in here is we (racers) at granite can call one and other a red neck, hick, or bumbkins. and the non racer cant call use that, i understand now. bunch of dam red necks, see you all at oct. fest, we unfortianatly will not be racing but will be there.

They are half right. I grew up in Mitchell which is just around the corner from the track. We where called Mitchell Hoosiers. And most everyone from there hung out at the track on the weekend and tues. night for the AMA motorcycles. The name "Planet Granite" came about because of the popularity of the nutty people and all the gearheads that came from the area.
At the time I was growing up G.C. was a very happeing place. People came from all over to G.C. So, because of its popular hang outs and street racing it was dubbed "Planet Granite" by the fact you never knew what was going to happen there. It was like exploring another planet. :)

This might be a stupid ?...but I was just wodering:

Why is it called "Tri-City" Speedway???

What are the "tri-cities?"

ummm folks.... does it say the people are hoosiers or they are watching hoosiers.. as in the tires..............:)

I always heard Granite, Mitchell and Pontoon were the tri-cities, but hell, what do I know, I grew up at Lakehill, where the only lake left was really a pond. And i think "Planet Granite" is great!

And just so ya'all know, the writer in question got his car boosted while he was on the road covering the Brittney Spears tour and it was later recovered in Sauget. I sent him an e-mail and told him it wasn't really his they recovered because his got the sh*t crushed out of it in last week's demo.
