A round or similar shaped pipe in the air stream is as bad or worse when it comes to making drag.
I would bet that this nose performs no better than a flat sheet of aluminum when it comes to generating any meaningful downforce on the nose and the reason is simple. What's right in front of the nose? A bunch of round steel pipes and those pipes are terrible in that they spoil the air passing across the top of the nose and thus destroy it's ability to produce an area of higher pressure and thus create down force. This is exactly the same as with a flat piece of metal.
And $omeone found a way to convince the sanctioning bodies to allow the use. This is getting ridiculous. I am sure somewhere someone has had this in a tunnel and have found a way to get a handling advantage from this....just blows my mind
