This AERO crap is killing all racing!!!!!!!!! They kept talking about "AERO PUSH" at Charlotte the other night, these words should only be used for NASCAR. Take away all these "cowcatcher" noses B4 it's too late. The late '80s and early '90s body rules should still be in use,JMO.

everyone has there personal opinion but i think these are rediculous. maybe once i see them in person my thoughts will change.

This sort of race car moves so slowly and is so incredibly poor aerodynamically anyway I seriously doubt that there is any advantage to this sort of thing. Now if it covered the front tires as well as installed front and rear windows in the car all at the same time then it would make a difference.

These aren't legal in UMP because the wicker (or lip on each side) is 3" and the UMP rules says only 1" of wicker allowed.

However, Dominator is coming out with one that only has 1" of wicker.

We were told they would be legal this coming year and have one on our new car , the big reason I wanted it was so the nose wouldn't be rolled under on the right front and tore up all the time

Anyone who does not think aero plays a part in modified racing has not ever drove down the road with their hand out the window at 70 miles an hour....imagine the possibilities of getting that air to flow and push where you want it....

Talked to Sam from UMP today, they are NOT legal in the current configuration. They lips are 3" tall UMP will only allow a 1" lip on the sides.

 How much slower would the cars be if they ran without noses and hoods like they did in the '60s and '70s? I liked the look of those old Allied modifieds.

dave mclain, if everybody had a 6 by 6 box square box, but you let one guy put a 1' chamfer around it, and let another guy have a 5 by 6 box, and then let a guy put holes through his 6 by 6 box....................... they still may not be really aerodynamic but some would be more so than others

Jimmy,
If you had a box with a closed end set up with the open end pointed toward the wind you would find that such a box would be worse aerodynamically in that it would produce more drag if it had holes in the bottom to let the air escape through instead of going around the sides vs a closed box. Seems wrong doesn't it?

When your arm hangs out the window it's pretty bad aerodynamically isn't it? A round or similar shaped pipe in the air stream is as bad or worse when it comes to making drag.

I would bet that this nose performs no better than a flat sheet of aluminum when it comes to generating any meaningful downforce on the nose and the reason is simple. What's right in front of the nose? A bunch of round steel pipes and those pipes are terrible in that they spoil the air passing across the top of the nose and thus destroy it's ability to produce an area of higher pressure and thus create down force. This is exactly the same as with a flat piece of metal.

Simple fix. Make the front bumpers out of teardrop tubing.

I am not talking about making a car "slick". I am talking about having the rules where you are manipulating the air to gain an advantage more and more.
Yes the cars with the bumpers tucked into the nose where only one arched tube is sticking out is going to have cleaner air flowing over it compared to a car with the entire bumper out there. This is getting ridiculous. I am sure somewhere someone has had this in a tunnel and have found a way to get a handling advantage from this....just blows my mind

And $omeone found a way to convince the sanctioning bodies to allow the use.

So does that mean Tim Hancock's nose shouldn't have been alowed last year because it was 4or 5 feet long to get more down force ?
