The Rock Opening????????????????

Before you run your mouth, get your facts straight

I know for a fact that Denny paid his lease up to closing, Because if he
didn't don't ya think VFW would have shut him down 2 yrs ago. I do. It
doesn't take a genious to figure that one out. And as far as the lawsuit goes, VFW didn't pay s***, Denny did. As a matter of fact he is still trying to pay off his lawyer. The reason there was a lawsuit in the first place was because of Lashley. He wanted so badly for that racetrack to shut down from day 1 and still does and Denny fought him with is all, not for himself but for the dedicated fans and racers. He wasn't making enough money there to fight for himself. He saw potential in that track just like you all do and personally I think everyone needs to get off his back. If Denny was holding a grudge(which I would because that is normal when FRIENDS STAB YOU IN THE BACK) don't ya think he would have taken EVERYTHING THAT WAS HIS. Basically everything down there, except for the buildings, was his and LEGALLY it wasn't a permanent fixture. Instead he chose to donate everything except equipment to the VFW so he could just walk away. But for some reason, most of you people won't let him. So here's the tip of the day: Denny's gone so everyone really need's to start talking about the new promoters about not giving the dedicated fans and racers the info that they need and quit dangling us off of the wire here. What are they going to NOT tell us when the actual racing does get started!!

Gee, I wonder who scuffer could be??? Ha ha ha....

NOTE: BT, comments are fine, just don't get personal.

I didn't know I was getting "personal" ..........

As far as downing "Denny" I have NOT done that in fact whenever he sees me he always comes up and talks to me.

Truly if I held "grudges" I could hold that one till the day I died with the amount he stuck me holding.

NOOOOOOOOOOO I am NOT giving up on the "Opening of the Rock".........

"kat"

 Hey girlfriend after "All" these years you never change!! Always up front and tells it like it is. I know you lost big time but to help out with track you kept up more than anyone else did! (Think they should had to scrub a few)! I don't like anyone trying to put words in Kat's mouth or belittle her!! She has done more than anyone else knows about!! She should have to take a loss on her taxes for what she lost at "The Rock"! Did any of you stop and think how much it cost her in dollars and time? Did any of you donate like Kat did? I know for a fact what she lost. Sorry Kat but had to say my piece on this-I know you can hold your own girlfriend but a little help never hurts. LD- you need to get back on here and help Kat out,I'm going to be gone for awhile and know between the both of you that you will keep things going forward. Later:p

I For One Hope The Rock Can Re-open. I Have Only Been There A Couple Of Times. I Liked It When We Were There. But From What I Hear The History Is Great. As We All Know, Tracks Are A Heck Of A Lot Easier To Lose Than To Gain. I Never Want To Lose An Area Track Rather Its One I Attend Or Not. With That Said, I Can Understand Some Peoples Frustration Of Not Knowing For Sure. From What I've Read, I Can Understand There Are Hurldes To Be Cleared Yet Also.
I Can See The Delay Maybe Causing The Crate Late Model Class To Suffer And Possibly The New Hornet Class. I Can Understand These Guys Holding Off Making A Decision, Until Things Are More Certain. All I Can Say Is Be Patient And Stand By. Hopefully For All Those Involved, Everything Works Out And Racing Can Resume. Even If It Is Not At The Beginning Of Racing Season. Even If Its Late To Open, Its Better Than Not At All. Once It Is Re- Opened, The Future Of The Rock Will Be Much More Secure.

Good Luck To All. Hope Eveything Falls Into Place!

what th hell

i think that its great that they are trying to open up the rock. its a nice little track to see some good competitive racing in all classes and bringing the cars sanction in is great to. you cant beat that if you want to run a latemodel that there is the ticket. its just that in my opinon they should have made sure that they could open the place back up before getting everyones hopes up. say you have someone who wants to run the latemodel class but they are waiting to here something. everyone knows you cant build one of these thing in a couple of days. say they dont want to run anywhere else but the rock and they want to run for points well there not going to be finished before the first night so therefore they are already behind in the points especialy for the national point deal. so please someone let the people know something thats the least theat you all could do for fans and racers both

Well they are right the track is going to be for sale, but National Lead has the right to buy it back for the sum, of $1. The same price it was sold to the VFW back in the 50's. Its in the deed that they have the right to first shot at buying it back. National Lead no longer exists, as itself, but is now more of a conglomerate of several companies. They have sold nearly all their land in this area to The Doe Run Co. So they have no vested interest in +or- 3 acres, in an area that they cant sink a shaft. If they decide to opt out of buying it back, (which they should), then the track can legally be sold. This is commomn knowledge to some in Fredericktown. I for one have talked to the VFW post commander since the no vote to lease the track. He told me what there intentions were at that point. It was to sell if possible, and get out from under the responsibility of the track.
To giddyup69 and everyone else, this explaination by Little302 is about as good as you can make it for the most part about the current situation. As to why we started our plans for the track when we did was simple. The VFW has a committee to oversee the track and a post commander. We had the approval of both, but it had just not gone to the full vote yet. We believe as anyone would when you had both of them approving you, that there would be absolutely no problem. From what I understand when it came to a vote it failed by ONE vote. That was when they evidently decided to go ahead and sell it back to National Lead because of all the past problems and costs. We have plans laid out to handle things from this point on, but right now (as I've said over and over and over again) we are still waiting on paperwork.. I hope this clears up things a little. Nobody is more aggravated with this waiting than we are... We're so sorry for the delays and the uncertainty, but as you can see anytime you have to go through these kinds of channels you just never know....

You hang in there Jeff, Terry and Curley!!! It will happen!!! Those of us who have kept up with this and offered our help DEEPLY appreciate EVERYTHING you've done and though it's hard for some of us to be patient, please know that your efforts ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED and that we stand behind you whatever happens.

Like someone already said - even if we don't get the call that it's open until the day of - WE'LL BE THERE!!

I will go along with two thirds of your statement, Racewidow. Terry and Curley went quietly about business and are trying to get the job done, of this I am sure. But we did not need all the other BS put on here if it wasn't even close to happening!!!! That is what has alot of people ticked and that all got generated by the other third of the equation you have just mentioned. i would say more but it will just get deleted!

I understand you and Jeff have your differences and I have no control over that. It's probably widely known that I am friends with Jeff. Unfortunately I don't know you, Tom, so I can't say I'm friends with you - maybe someday we'll meet and that will change - better to have friends than enemies.

I guess the way I see it as - Jeff is supposed to be the PR person for the track - has been for years from what I understand and even though I may be biased, I think he does a good job. I'm pretty sure he is basically the middle man here and IS the person who should be keeping us posted on what's going on - Terry and Curley are the ones getting things done and the PR person is the one to keep the public notified. It's kind of one of those "don't shoot the messenger" things.

Would we all rather have stayed in the dark and then all of a sudden found out that - Oh yeah, the Rock is opening this weekend? I, personally would rather have known what's been happening all along as we have been.

I'm not trying at all to argue with you, just trying to give you my viewpoint on the subject. God Bless!

I'm going to jump in and agree with racewidow - again. But only cause she's so darn smart!. Great minds - think alike - yada, yada, yada.

Jeff is sorta in a darned if he does - darned if he doesn't position. We all beg, insist and demand information; even when there isn't really any. If he says anything he doesn't have signed, sealed and delivered he's taking a chance. But, he knows we all want info so he tries to tell us what is happening. On the other hand, if he keeps silent, he gets reamed for that too.

Jeff really doesn't need me to defend him - he can do that well enough for himself when he has to. Just wanted to say, I agree with racewidow, AND I don't really envy Jeff's position in this.

Thank you.... I think most people who really want to see the track open understand my situation completely. It's only those people who don't want the track to reopen that continually create problems just to create problems. And also believe me when I say that when the track does actually open, no matter when, those that created problems will be addressed.

You see there's even more to the story that has not and WILL NOT be announced until it's proper time. And I promise you it's something very, very positive.

Thanks for the compliment, axeman, but I'm not that smart - I just observe things differently than most people AND am open to checking out both sides because I've learned that usually, there's a lot of sense in both.

There you go with the threats again. But I am the one that is the s**t disturber! You don't intimidate me, Jeff, but you would think that somebody in a business such as yours, a type of newspaper, would not print things that aren't factual. That is my major beef about the whole thing. For all those who want to run there, I hope you get what you want. But to ALL of us that have an opinion, don't voice it on here, because someone might not allow it. I too, would like to meet many people with whom I speak to and with on these boards. You don't have to agree with me and I don't have to agree with you, but I will respect most everyones opinion on here. Especially their right to have an opinoin!

You would also think that somebody who is suppose to be working would have better things to do than shoot his mouth off all day long on the INTERNET, but that doesn't seem to stop you. Do they give you time and a half there at the Chevy dealer for internet time?

I'm not trying to intimidate anyone Tom, but your words have been noticed by other people and they are the ones who have taken note. You've hung yourself you didn't need any help from me. I already knew what kind of person you were and that's not particularly bad.

 I thought this thread was about the rock not a pushing match between 2 guys acting like they just got out of the 2nd grade. Best I can tell you 2 need to go some where and have your little slap match. I myself would just like to know what going on with the track and not who is ticked at some one else.

 stuff like that is what i get on here for. here it goes again just cant let personal beefs go can u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Millsey-Curley-Terry"

 I'm just wanting for things to get settled down and do some home town racing. I know it's got to be a pain in the bottom! I think at present time they've done all they can do and have went that extra mile. It's not one certain persons fault that this has happened. No one could foresee what the VFW was going to change in the middle of the stream. Think that we're all so anxious and excited about it re-opening that we all speculated that it was a locked in deal. Maybe we didn't listen close enough or speculated to much on other things. I do now one thing and that is I wouldn't want to walk any where in their shoes! Someone has to take the brunt of this and looks like Millsey is the one (he's got wide shoulders for the heavy load he carries). Being the PR Man he's doing his job,he's the go between us Terry and Curly. I know I appreciate what all their trying to do I know that all the slams are getting us nowhere at all. This is just my own opinion on subject matter. Now I can't wait for the flag to drop and feel the grit in my teeth.
