Is it an issue in 2012? -- Almost every night I'm at a track, one or two drivers ask me "How come not much is being done this year?"

Seems to be a "Let's not talk about it and hope people don't bring it up" kind of deal this year.

Is it too expensive for promoters to enforce?

Are the testing methods just not proven well enough?


I told myself at the start of the year I wasn't going to get into this subject myself like I did last year. A lot of people appreciated that I did it last year and others not so much... But there was a lot more testing, checking and talking about it after I got things "stirred up" last year...
 
i think it is a wait and see some are probably on it now, while others are waiting to see if they tech for it.it was rumored last year U.M.P didnt have the money for testing and with all of their tracks where would they start?
 
I know one team who is using the hell out of it and I ain't every seen em check in the hornetts lol
 
It's obviously still being used..

Anyone paying any attention at Belle Clair could catch at least ten people on any given night.
 
Disappointed with UMP. Wheres the testing? These guys are asleep at the switch. This just promotes cheating since they are not testing. Have not seen one UMP official at a local track yet.
 
Its bad. I agree Jimmy. Im wondering whats the deal as well. If its money or time or lack of personnel. But id almost guarantee this......the ones who complained to you about this subject either had used it.........currently using it.....or knew people using it and didnt want to ruffle feathers.Its like talking about drinking and driving......youll always get the ones who say its ok or i can drink 3 beers and be ok. Seems to amaze me sometimes.
 
Just asking.... if it's to costly to test and people are using it then why not make it legal? then if everyone has it, it will take the disadvantage away. EPA reasons? Right? if they knew what was in the dirt at any track they would close it down. Too costly for some teams? Right? so is racing. Can't get Bloomquest for cheating any other way? Right? seriously I forgot the reasons why it's not legal. You sure there doping the tires Jimmy? Seems someone on here in another thread thinks some of the drivers are drunk there for driving slow making the others look like superstars :) I just don't get the tire doping thing because you still haft to wheel the car in order for it to get around the track. Some just wheel there car better than others.
 
I bet the street stock guys are using all they can get... I seen one of em at there shop washing down the tires with bleach. It does the same thing and its $1 a gallon.
 
They checked the RR tire on modifieds at tri-city friday night (5/11) with a tire durometer before the feature!
 
I honestly don't see bleach doing anything other than ruining a tire by drying it out. That's my opinion though.

A durometer doesn't tell even 1% of the story. Some guys have so much in their tires you can smell it walking by.
 
I'm glad someone brought this subject up....... Sat night at Highland a B Mod driver had blown a engine and put Oil, antifreeze, heck from what it looked like from the stands there may have even been some rod and pistons down the front straight. (it didn't look good) Officials got out the shovels, oil dry, and spread a ton of dirt on the "carnage". They had all the remaining cars drive through it and sort of work it in so to speak. I would bet a large sum of money that there was some sort of transfer on to their tires. As good of a job as the officials did, there was no way they covered it all.
Now a story.... If the winner of the race would have had a tire sample taken, heck if last place had a tire sample taken and it came back "not the same as the standard" there would have been hundreds of people on here ready to tar and feather that person.
In my opinion, and I'm sure it might not be the same as yours, until they have a test that can be track side that says 100% if a tire is Legal or Illegal, they might as well be looking for a Sasquatch.

I know it there is alot of it at pevely because everytime I get done racing the feature, my tires are all have a blue tint on them
 
So just say you drove through oil water and antifreeze?That is the way to beat the test?If it were up to me and I was going to test tires I would look at the guys whose tires never seem to glaze over even after several cautions and keep picking other top running cars off through the feature if the car in question is on a harder compound tire that is.When there is very little passing and someone is in another time zone that should raise suspicion you cant check everybody but if they would do it on occasion it could go a long way to keep most honest,but there will always be cheaters!
 
Back on the subject that started this...my opinion is UMP doesnt have the manpower or funds to ck tires on a weekly basis. Yes they will here and there but all organizations are hurting. Its an election year. Economy is still in the toilet(but oh the politicians have a different view of this!). Ive read several articles recently and seems to me the EPA is getting more back into fines pertaining to dump sites and current factories to generate easy revenue. Slacked off sports...........hobbyists ect. I wont go to the deal of my feelings and beleifs. Not what this thread is about.
 
That's not what I'm saying at all.......I was throwing out the "what if" factor.
If I was a head honcho at UMP, I would tell Hoosier " Make/ design a tire tester that we can have at all of our ump sanctioned tracks, or else I will be giving Goodyear a call, cause they will".

Adam that was simple enough !!! The way there doing things is way of base and there is a more cost friendly way to work this tire cheating SH-T..
 
well here is some info you dont need it to win I have won close to 40 features in the last 3 years an never used it spend your money on something else like racing another night a week an get something that can really help you seat time this goes for traction control big motors an anything else that people think magicly makes you win just race alot will help more than anything
