We lost the greatest track announcer ever in the St. Louis area today... RIP to our good buddy TTG..

It's just shocking, that guy had more fans in the stands then any racer did, thoughts and prayers to his family.

There have been very few that have been his equal behind a microphone... he was to racing what Jack Buck and Harry Carey were to baseball, what Howard Cosell was to football or what Chick Hearn was to basketball. He is without a doubt a first ballot inductee to the motorsports announcing Hall of Fame if there is one. A true measure of a man is the lives he has touched in his lifetime... He has touched so many R.I.P TTG

Just like everyone else, I find it hard to express how I feel...I am deeply saddend to hear this. Thoughts and prayers to Tina and the entire family, what a shock. Mike was "the voice" of racing in the STL area and will be missed by everyone! Now all those racers in heaven have someone to call the races for them. RIP Talker Guy.

The entire Harris family

I don't know what belleville or pevely is going to do this week but i say no announcer at all a night of silence would be a great tribute.

So, so very sad and numbing really. Mike was so down to earth and always gave back to the race community. When I first started announcing he took the time to answer many questions for me and I will never forget his advice, I still have his responses. He was a big part of my group of racing friends' lives in Highland and Belleville and the times we were able to slip down to I-55 after he left Highland. As a young kid it was just as exciting to meet or see Mike as it was to see any race drivers. I would not want to step up to the mic at either track, but someone must, I believe he would be saddened if things were to go silent at the tracks other than some solemn moments of silence to honor one of the greatest ever.

We at Ray Walsh Racing would like to express our condolences to Mike's famil. Mike was a great friend and to all of the racing community and will surely be missed by all, racing will never be the same...Tom 1W

Sad is not enough to describe my feelings. Tina has had heavy going the last couple of years. My prayers are with her and the family. Wanda Knepper

Mike had a way with words that few others can match. He put smiles on the drivers, crews, and fans faces everynight. I remember him from Highland when I was a kid watching my uncle race. After a 10 or so years away from the sport when I started helping Chad, we went to I-55 for a playday and I heard is unmistakable voice. I turned to Chad and said, isn't that the guy that used to announce at Highland? He nodded and said, He's good isn't he?.........he was the best.

Words cannot begin to describe how deeply saddened we are to hear this news this morning. Mike truly was a class act and was, without a doubt, the best announcer out there. He never met a stranger and was kind to all that he met. We feel greatly honored to have known him. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy go out to Tina and the rest of Mike's family. Rest in peace, Mike.
